    Born in 1973

    I was born in 1973.

I remember seeing the MOTU line at Toys R Us and buying He-man, reading the mini-comic on the car ride home, and beginning to find out about the MOTU mythos.

I was super excited when the cartoon came on TV (which I remember followed a week of the first GI Joe mini-series).

And I collected a number of figures and vehicles.

However, while it seemed like a lot of my peers were playing with GI Joe and Transformers, they seemed to think that He-Man was for younger kids. (I enjoyed all those toy lines, and obviously still do!).

Just curious if anyone else had that experience.

Fortunately, I have a brother several years younger than me. I was able to vicariously continue with the He-man line through him

Hey bud, I can definantly relate to you. I was born in '72. I did however have 1 friend in school who loved he-man's world also, and we would compete collecting the newest figures that came out. But most of the kids in our grade made fun of us because we were too old for this type of toy. But we stuck together till the 8th grade. By then we were 14 or 15 and the line was dying and She-ra was the only thing on TV by that time (which I also loved). That was the time Kenny and I went separate ways in school, we were getting older, getting our minds set on driving and other things. Lost interst in things till I saw a show about action figures a year or so ago. Got my figures out, cleaned em up, fell in love all over again. Was mesmorized to find there was a current classics line in production. Now I'm up to about 40 figures on the classic line. Its been fun .

With 40 figures, you're beating me!

I've been collecting action figures since the Star Wars line relaunched in the mid-90's. I've picked up some GI Joe, Transformers, and some other vintage lines along the way. However, I have to say that MOTUC is the best line. A good blend of play and display.

Unfortunately, I don't have any of my toys from my childhood (probably why I have this strange toy collection addiction!!!). Glad you have yours. Enjoy!

You are not alone. I was born in '74. I was never into GI Joe. I was very late getting into Transformers. However, I was always into MOTU from the very beginning and it was always my #1 fave. It seemed as though no one else really shared my enthusiasm for MOTU and the very small number of friends who liked them at all always liked something else better. I strongly believe there were a lot of closet MOTU fans that never came forward though. lol

I was born in 1973 too. First it was D&D, then He-man, then Transformers, GI Joe, and finally Voltron before getting into heavy metal. I must say, I really remember all the GREAT comic books from that time. Marvel/DC 70's to mid 80's was a golden time for me.
