    Hi from Aussieland :)

    Hi from Australia!
I had an account here a few years back, but couldn't remember the logins or any of that, and the admins couldn't locate it with the little information I could remember, so here I am starting again.
I never really said much in the forums back then, so it's not like anyone will have missed me! Although there was a guy elsewhere in Australia on here who I managed to get a 200X Evil-lyn for!!! LOL I doubt he forgot me.
I was a big 200X fan, but after it finished, my visits to the ORG diminished somewhat, until I stumbled across MOTUC a little over 2 years ago.

I had been unemployed for some time, and living in a place that collecting and displaying MOTU would have been madness. As a result I did not collect anything new for a while, and I'm rather glad I didn't as the ceiling in the room I lived in collapsed one night (I was not home fortunately) because the insulation was full of water from a burst pipe. We had also had a possum problem, and the water that fell out of that ceiling and flooded half the rooms in the house, was not the cleanest of water.
But shortly after that incident, my fortune changed and I found a nice place to live without idiots, or an idiot landlord, and plenty of room to display any collectibles I did have. Which for a while meant the 200X guys were all out.
Within six weeks of moving to a better pad, I found myself employed again, and as a single bloke with fairly low overheads, I sought out new collectibles to get.

I had always wanted to get the NECA statues that finish off the 200X line, but as awesome as they are, something else had somehow found its way into the world without me fully realising it. MOTUC.

In my first pay week at my new job, I had gone collectible hunting. At this stage I had become rather Dr. Who obsessed again. But I'd bought all I could find of that within a few months, and in one shop I visited, there was a lot of MOTUC.
The first few times I saw Classics I really had no idea what to make of them!

It had been a while since I'd seen vintage figures, but I was certain these were an improvement on them and not some crazy reissues. I remember telling myself vintage figures were not this tall. Now at the same time, I could see 200X characters, PoP characters, characters I'd never heard of before. TO be honest the visual information from just looking at these things was overwhelming, and it was at least 3 months of trying my hardest to ignore their presence, and "researching" them before I finally starting buying. When I finally felt I had got my head around what this line was and what was going on with it, and what it represented, or at least what it represented to me (and the now hyperactive inner-child in me), and most to the point, HOW FREAKING AWESOME IT IS, and then brought my first few figures home, THEN my visits to the ORG began to grow more frequent again.

At the point of joining back up, I counted my MOTUC acquisitions (I got into collecting Classics around May/June 2012 and I've been playing a huge game of catchup ever since) it was somewhere between 100-110. And what pushed me that extra inch to finally want to post on the site and be involved again, was all the chatter about the Classics PoP mini-sub. I am excited by the possibility (as I always am) of there being more female characters in the classics line.
Two things I found extremely frustrating as a child, were (1): Lack of compatibility between MOTU, PoP, and N/A toy lines (Optikk almost convinced me, but ultimately failed because the difference in scale and aesthetic was too great), and (2) the distinct lack of girls in the MOTU vintage line.
Seriously???!!!!!!!!! Teela, Evil-Lyn and Sorceress (right at the end there!). That was it???? Not even a Queen Marlena????
And of course I hated the doll-like PoP figures. (I wonder if little girls with PoP figures got equally frustrated because their only dude figure was Bow?).

So thanks to MOTU Classics, my interest is fully revived! But sadly like others who got into the Classics collecting game late, I am missing some figures I consider essential. Now I have a friend who has hunted many a hard to find release for me, and so the search continues. And at least now I don't miss any new releases. But yes, my Classics life will not be complete without the likes of Shadow Weaver, Fisto, Teela and Zodak. These four he hasn't sourced for a decent price yet... and also, as maligned with some collectors as the are, I do not have the Star Sisters, and 3 more Great Rebellion ladies is always a good idea in my opinion.

So in case you haven't guessed, I'm a complete-ist. I know some people out there have preferences for certain media, while others are quite purist, and struggle to accept anything outside what existed in the 80s.
Although I sometimes regret selling all my vintage MOTU when I was about 21 (I had most figures, including some 1987 releases and Eternia), I really don't care now at all. Classics has allowed me to have far more figures than existed back then, and of higher quality.

Now!!!!, I can have my PoP girls without feeling like I own "girls' things" (I'm still excited about how good Glimmer looks!). I can have the awesome eyeball for a head guy.. and he's in the same scale as everything else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I can have my unmade 200x characters that I love and think look amazing, like Faceless One, Carnivus and Dactus.
I can have a dude I'd never heard of who looks like he's part of Zodac's crew with a blue cape and a mirror in his chest! I can have my Italy only released giants!
I can have He-Ro, and Queen Marlena, Adora, Octavia and Sea Hawk. I can have characters I barely remember (for not seeing the Filmation He-Man in many years til recently), like Plundor and Icer. I can have things that make me lose my shiz like Draego-Man, Palace Guards (are you kidding me??? didn't everyone want some as a kid??!!! I sure did!) and I can have characters that I never quite got to own in the 80s, like Randor (we saw him in a toy shop and Dad wouldn't buy him, despite my pleas of how rare I thought he was! *cough* I was right about that Dad LOL), Scareglow, and Clamp Champ, AND HORDE TROOPERS!
I can have nice updates of favourites that I did own like Rattlor, Two Bad, Modulok, Roboto and Mosquitor. And I can also have better updates of characters that I disliked because they were a bit lame in toy form back then, like Mantenna (seriously I hated the fused legs!).
And I can have all these figures WITHOUT (in most cases) what I personally thought to be annoying marketing gimmicks. Yeah I get that in the context of the story and plot, these were kind of their "powers". On the toys themselves, I found WHOPPING GREAT LEVERS and stuff sticking out of figures' backs and such to be aesthetically displeasing! (I suppose this is why in the past I didn't like variants either. The idea of a new Skeletor and He-Man each year seemed unnecessary (As a kid I didn't give the economics of manufacturing toys much thought then )).
Suffice it to say I'm quite pleased with the lack of "moving" action feature on the classics figures. Meh, so you have to swap in a neck piece for Rattlor and Mekaneck?? Negative things I remember from the vintage line far outweigh any posing inconvenience for this line. Perfect example, Battle Cat and Panthor were static and in one pose. Now look at them!?? They are amazing!

Anyway, I think I've rambled about my love for Classics enough for this intro blog post thingy!!!

Before I finish up, I just want to make a quick mention of being a bit of an artistic fellow.
I recently made a deviantart account and there are some really talented artists there, doing some AMAZING Motu stuff! I made myself a rotating screensaver (using some borrowed images from there and other stuff). I'm also glad to see people posting artwork here on the ORG
I am considering doing a range of character portraits.
I've clearly got enough Classics characters to not be short of material to inspire me
So keep your eyes peeled as images may be going up soon.

    Anyway,

If you've read all this I salute you, (I do ramble a bit especially about all things MOTU).
I look forward to participating in forum discussions soon!

And also, I hope the PoP mini-sub makes it, cos everything I've seen so far looks awesome.
Oh and I don't know if it's been said yet (cos I haven't read all the posts in that long long thread), but I do wonder if the $30 item could be a Filmation Hordak with interchangeable arm bits and Imp!

Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes
And LOL Drakken, I can't help myself, I'm a tiny bit obsessed with MOTU as I suppose we all are!
It appeared when I was about 5 or 6.
My slightly older brother got a bunch of stuff for his birthday in September that year, then more for Christmas the same year. I got Power Lords! The idea I suppose being that my brother and I would not fight. But sadly for Power Lords, they disappeared rather quickly, and I only vaguely remembered them until I saw they were redoing them and it all came back.
As it turned out, the early demise of Power Lords, and my brother losing interest in Masters within a year or two worked to my favour.
As the vintage MOTU line found its early success, I suppose designers thought they could get away with just about anything. (And they most certainly did!)
Each wave of figures and vehicles became more fantastic (literally) and bizarre. For kids like me this was a good thing.
For my old brother it was not.
So by 1984, there were enough new figures my brother hated, to allow me to get some of my own, (as I was always playing with his anyway) to avoid the fighting issue coming up again, and by 1985 there were NO new figures he was interested in (by this stage he was 10) and so everything defaulted to me as the youngest.
I kept collecting any new releases I could get my hands on (except variants), and would even buy cheap second hand characters we had missed from earlier waves to fill in the gaps.
MOTU was just one of the those things that had such an impact on me in my childhood and was such a big part of it, that I must confess I kept collecting it until it was gone.
Australia sometimes does not always get all the toy releases the US does, and we often miss out on stuff, or waves are skipped.
However when it comes to vintage MOTU almost everything at least passed through my vision at some point, and the later releases were showing up here as late as 1991 from what I saw.
And so I was still collecting til about age 15, when another obsession bug bit me, and that obsession was TMNT.
I was one of those lucky enough to have the Eternia playset, and most of the figures. The one thing I had very little of was vehicles.
So MOTU was a big part of my life for a good 10 years at least.
I love vintage MOTU and the He-Man and She-Ra cartoons.
I confess I love the Movie for some reason that I've never been able to explain.
I never saw N/A on TV, I only saw some of the toys. I passed on them as mentioned earlier cos of scale and design issues.
Sadly 200X got a rough deal (toywise) in Australia. The first wave figures appeared in late 2003, with the next wave being 4 or 5 or something. Most red carded figures did not have local releases, and yet I found a place I could buy them. (The same place I get my MOTUC).
I have many of the 200x comics, in fact possibly all of them.
I finally found a local place that sold the MYP series on DVD. Which I watch every so often when I have a craving.
As for the future of MOTU, I often wonder if a TV series wouldn't be better than a movie, because fans who love the rich mythos of this property, I'm sure would like to see all their favourite characters on screen. I don't know if anything short of a trilogy (at the bare minimum) would adequately cover that in movie format.
At least not in my mind.
But a 5 to 7 season TV show done in a similar style to Dr. Who or Smallville, or any other visually impressive sci-fi show would be nice.
    I can see it now.
Each season introduces a new faction or major story arc (or both). You could have your one-shot villain stories, Your flashback 3 parter with Pre-Ternia, (with He-Man later going back in time), the Snake Men, the Horde, N/A, Dare, He-Ro, The Great Rebellion, even cool little flashback one shots, like Kronis and Cychor hanging out as bounty hunters together, and how one betrayed the other!
Imagine seeing Hordak collecting his posse, where he found them all, and the things he did to brainwash the good ones to being bad.
It would be like... MYP meets MOTUC bios (naturally you'd want to ditch some of the dorky "real names"!)
Anyway perhaps some upcoming paintings or artworks could reflect these ideas.
I suppose the intro is now over and I should think about contributing to, or starting some interesting discussion threads!!!!!!!!!!
(I'm sure my rants will be better placed there)

    To summarise:
    Good to be involved again.

MOTUforever, like you, I never got to watch NA when I was young. I only watched the show recently as I found the two boxed sets for $5 at a store and just had to have them. Though different in style, I really enjoyed it. I'd also love to see a new TV series. I was quite unhappy when the 200x series was cancelled as I was looking forward to seeing Hordak come back full time as well as She-Ra!
For the Honor, for the Glory, for the Power of GRAYSKULL!!!
