    RIP Earl Norem

Legendary painter and illustrator, Earl Norem, passed away yesterday. Mr. Norem was renown for his He-Man & She-Ra paintings, defining the look for many fans across the globe. Unstoppable to the very end, he was still painting during his last days with us. He will be deeply missed.

Speaking personally for a moment, he was one of my biggest inspirations through childhood and as an adult. Over the years, I became very close with Mr. Norem and regarded him as family. Amazingly kind and strong willed, he was very active all the way to the end. I've rarely met such a kind, generous individual.
Hope to see you at Power-Con 2023, America's Mightiest Toy Convention!

Condolences to his family and friends, his extraordinary paintings inspired me to keep doing my own art. His Master's of the Universe images were awesome to the point, I wanted my figures to look like his paintings. His art made the actions figures appear more actual.

Very sad news . He was really able to bring the world of Masters of the Universe to life through his artwork. I'm glad to hear he was still able to enjoy using his talents right up to the end, though.

    So sad to hear this!

His announced appearence for Power-Con 2014 was the tipping point for me to buy my tickets. Unfortunately it wasn't to be, but that just says how much I thought about him.

He seemed like a fantastic guy, and in my opinion, the most talented artist I've ever seen. I've been amazed since seeing these at Caldor when I was very little.

Thank you, Mr. Norem, for making our childhoods wondrous. Masters of the Universe wouldn't have been as great without you.

Mr. Norem helped to lay the seed for our imagination.
I'm thankful for the worlds he managed to create.

Rest in peace! I never knew the guy, nevertheless, he molded my childhood and made the MotU magazine something to marvel at. Every single picture was a visceral image, and they served to give life to the franchise or totally creep me out (like with Buzz-Off being slimed). Creeped out in a good way, though!

Guy was friggin' amazing, man. Hope life was good to him.

So sad to hear. So much of his work was pinned up in my work area when I was at Mattel. Getting to meet him at Power Con a few years back was a huge thrill. His rock men cover is my absolute favorite piece of MOTU art ever. His contributions to this brand we all love can never be under stated.

A fantastic talent who clearly had a profound effect on many. His passion was his work, his art stands out as some of the most definitive depictions of MoTU, and I recall fondly enjoying his art as a child and up to this very day. To be able to do the work that gives you pleasure, and to give pleasure to so many over the course of a life . . . I can only say, "Congratulations on a life well lived, Mr. Norem."
