So, like most of you, I grew up spending countless afternoons perpetuating the battle of good vs. evil with the original MOTU figures. I can't even express how much fun I had. Then I had a nephew who was about the right age when the 200x line came out so I would occasionally catch a glimpse of those figures when I would go to visit. I wasn't impressed with the figures from that line, honestly, but I've since warmed up to the cartoon and I really dig all the history and backstory that came out as a result of it.
Fast forward to the present day where I have two boys, aged 5 and 2 and I've retrieved all of my old figures from my parents' basement and bought the entire original cartoon series, which they (we) watch constantly. And so it is that, at this late date, I have discovered the MOTU Classics line. So expensive, but I'm about to jump in headfirst and I plan to turn the basement into a gigantic diorama so that my boys can experience the same magic that I did as a child. Grayskull, Snake Mountain, the Evergreen Forest, the Sands Of Time... I plan to incorporate everything from the show and create an immersive MOTU environment that I could have only dreamed of as a child. The plan is to have around 40 feet or so, along three walls. I want to do Castle Grayskull, the Palace, Snake Mountain, etc. each about 4 feet high with an additional 3 or 4 feet descending down where I can make all of the cool rooms and hidden chambers that you see on the show but are simply not feasible for an officially produced playset.
So I just wanted to say hello and thank you for this amazing community that you all have built here. I've only seen the tip of the iceberg so far but the thread with pictures of your collections has really inspired me and is nothing short of mind blowing. Such a creative bunch here! I hope to share my progress on my diorama when I get going with it and get some of these new classics figures to populate it.
