Born and raised in Sri Lanka, I'm a 28 year old guy who's been a lifelong fan of the He-Man and She-Ra sagas. SO glad to FINALLY join these incredible forums.
Los Angeles is my adopted home, and just a few weeks ago, I was able to speak to some of the key people associated with the Filmation shows at a special Egyptian Theatre event - namely Erika Scheimer, Larry di Tillio, Tom Sito, and Melendy Britt. I'm sure many of you have spoken to them at greater length than I did, of course!! I've also taken a few classes with Marc Zicree, who wrote some of the earlier He-Man episodes (including one of my favourites, "Curse of the Spellstone"). It's the animated shows that I'm most acquainted with, since I've got all the DVDs, and while I sadly no longer own any of the toys, I do have quite a few of the vintage She-Ra story books and annuals.
Some of my favourite He-Man and She-Ra things
Favourite He-Man characters - The Sorceress, He-Man, Evil-Lyn, Tri-Klops, Queen Elmora, Kareen
Favourite She-Ra characters - Entrapta, Catra, Perfuma, Mermista, Sweet Bee, Arielle the anxious apprentice
I do believe that THE SORCERESS was the heart and soul of the Filmation versions of He-Man and She-Ra though, particularly due to the incomparable voice work of Linda Gary. When they screened 'The Secret of the Sword' at the Egyptian Theatre here in Hollywood last month, I felt sadder than ever that Linda Gary is no longer with us - I daresay there's nothing in all of cinema history that has the same epic emotional impact as her mid-story monologue to Adora as the Sorceress. They may as WELL have called the Sorceress the "Goddess" in the Filmation cartoons, because Linda certainly sounded like one.
I look forward to making new He-Man and She-Ra friends here, and sharing the riches of the worlds of Eternia and Etheria for years and years to come!! Peace and Love. ^_^

Erika Scheimer, Tom Sito and Larry DiTillio were hands down three of the most genuine and down-to-earth people I've ever met, and SO GENEROUS with their time and thoughts. Melendy Britt was recovering from an operation she'd had a couple of weeks prior to the Egyptian Theatre event, I believe, but she still managed to be gracious and share some of her personal insights.
