    Hello All

    Greetings!
Long time MOTU fan from back in the day here! I have lurked here and there on this site and wanted to sign up. This year I am FINALLY going as Skeletor for Halloween and am making my own costume...the BATTLE ARMOR version.

Chose that because 1) I don't have to be so exposed ha and 2) its a COOL design that nobody seems to do. Here are some progress pics. I am using glow in the dark pink and green paint for the bat symbol on the chest. I need to get a good pic of it glowing after i've applied another coat or two.

Thanks! I'm pretty stoked about it.

Still debating on painting the mask I have or not more yellow (it has some yellow already from the factory). Don't want anything to mess up the mouth motion it has because I've been hard working on my Skeletor impression (and driving my wife and daughter crazy haha)

Wow, love the boots. Very bold of you to share a picture of yourself in costume too!!

    Haha thanks!

Yeah and it was while I had been growing out my beard and stuck wearing glasses. Both of which are gone finally. I can only take a beard for so long ha

But yeah wanted to show the compression shirt I'm using for the "skin"

I know exactly what you mean about only being able to take a grown out beard for so long. I've had to grow mine out a couple of times in the past, for stage productions. And I was stuck wearing glasses too for a long time, until I finally had Lasik surgery (which I would highly recommend, by the way, if you can find a reliable doctor!! )

I think you pull off the compression shirt astonishingly well!! You may be driving your wife and daughter crazy with your vocal impressions of Skeletor, but I'm sure they're secretly very proud to have a husband/father who can "design" and wear clothes & accessories with elan! Not many guys can, you know.

    Well thanks!
Yeah we all get pretty crazy at Halloween so am sure you're right! Haha

Thought about LASIK maybe one day. But that wouldn't solve this issue. It's auto-immune. Every now and then I will get inflammation in my left eye. Can't wear my contact because it irritates and makes it last longer. Drives me crazy. Luckily it is only once a year or so.

But yeah this is my first full on costume creation. I like knowing nobody else will be dressed the same as me when my wife and I go out on the town. Also can't wait to see the trick-or-treaters faces when open the door in costume.

Last year I was Darth Vader with a pretty impressive custom suit I bought off eBay. I modified it with a working chest box that breathed and said quotes from the movie. It was awesome.

Also proposed to my wife last Halloween in same costume haha was great. Put her ring in a Death Star box and everything. She is a HUGE Star Wars geek...OG since '77

Oh yeah, auto-immune problems are complicated, but I'm glad that at LEAST you only have to deal with this issue once a year or so. That's something, right? I was never able to wear contacts myself, by the way, before I had Lasik surgery - as they would irritate my eyes as soon as I even ATTEMPTED to put them in, and so I had to wear glasses all the time.

What is your wife going to dress up as, next to your Skeletor? lol. The trick or treaters will DEFINITELY be in for something when you open the door in costume - - and yes, it's always better to have your very own, custom-made costume, versus a generic costume purchased from some store.

I'm not really a Star Wars fan, although I know it greatly influenced both He-Man and She-Ra (some of the Filmation writers forget to even HIDE the fact that they 'stole' from Star Wars - among other sources, of course!! lol). But that is hilarious (in a good way) that you proposed to your wife AS Darth Vader, replete with an accompanying box for the ring and everything - Talk about an unforgettable proposal.

Well after much discussion she is going as a cyborg that is making from various elements herself.

She was back and forth on a lot of options....initially she wanted to be Velma Dinkley then when she saw the progress of my suit she wanted to match. Which led her to almost going as She-Ra then Evil Lyn, Orko, even He-Man at one point....she then ALMOST dressed in a purple catsuit with green backpack as Panthor. Haha it's been an event just getting her costume nailed down.

I think the pieces she is putting together though are going to look great. This weekend we are finishing up her costume and mine. I will post more pic of Skeletor when all is said and done.

And yes the proposal worked out well....for me at least! haha
