"On Top Of Grayskull - A Vintage Skeletor Portrait", SiMo Sol's latest oil painting

    My new painting is finished.
It's my recreaton of page 2 of "King Of Castle Grayskull", one issue of the very first edition of MOTU mini-comics.
    Here is the original page:
    >> ALCALA'S PAGE

Of course done in oldschool classic style, oil on canvas, 70 x 100 cm (approx. 27.6 x 39.5 inches).

    Enjoy!

This is fantastic. Really epic and classic feel to it!

I'd also like to see some of the Bruce Timm mini-comic covers. I think you'd do I good job with the "The Terror Claws Strike" if you made it a painting.

Beautiful lighting and atmosphere. I like that subtle shadow of Zoar behind Skeletor. Looks like our boys in for a surprise.

I think this is one amazing piece. Speaks volumes to me about what MOTU means to me. Vintage classic feel that warms my soul. Wonderful job.
Forgot to mention I like the shadow of Zoar behind Skeletor. Very nice touch.

    Thank you all a lot.

    Vclan:
Same here. I didn't know how to realize it precisely when I began to paint this, because the motive is less complex than the ones I made before, but this pureness was a chance, too. I think one point is that this scene seems very familiar to us in a very special way, not only because we know it from the Mini comics, but it is a simple, typical scene we reenacted as children with our MOTU figures in some way - even the ones who only had a He-Man and a Skeletor figure. And I realized that in this painting this is the key what makes that "vintage classic feel that warms my soul", as you described it so well.

I am so glad that this painting obviously translates it quite well. Thanks!

That was the first thing I noticed, after being wowed by the quality of artwork. That subtle shadow is a great touch.
