    New adventures fan here!

Hey there, huge "The new adventures of he-man" fan here. Really liked that kind of Sci-fi twist to the series with the late 80's action/comedy kids show THEME. BUT as well as having removed a bunch of characters from the original series they didn't include my favourite he-man character of all time "Mer man"! Anyone with me??

    Mer man is the best.

Hiya! "The New Adventures of He-Man" was my introduction to all things He-Man, I loved Flipshot and Crita but yeah, when there was no Evil-Lyn something was up

Wonderful to meet an NA fan. From the guy that created the series, Welcome to he-man.org.

You might enjoy Olesker's Thread in the Vintage forum as it deals directly with NA. It's got over 140,000 views so I guess someone like it.

Here's also a link to a podcast I did some year ago that will give you additional background on the series:

    http://masterscast.com/?p=46

As for Mer-man and many other characters from the original series not going to Primus, as I said in the podcast, Mattel's thinking was that the original toy line had reached a saturation level -- how many of the same Skeletor, He-man. etc. action figures can you expect kids/people to buy/collect? So Mattel wanted to roll out all new figures/characters with the new series and, thus, only He-man and Skeletor were brought along, with the exception of a single episode written by the brilliant Misty Taggart in which She-ra appeared. This was a business decision on Mattel's part. From my side the one I regretted not bringing along was Battle Cat. Having BC there, I feel, could have added a lot of great action.

And just for fun, if you really wanna take a walk down memory lane, here's a link to my website: http://jackolesker.com

Thanks for the wonderful insight to the series Jack!

You repeat yourself often about how blessed you are to have such a dedicated fan base to talk to, but we are the ones who are blessed to have a creator of a show we love to indeed have such close contact with fans. It's amazing! Even though It's been 25 years since the first episode of NA was released and whats done is done, there's still room to discuss what could have been better and there's plenty of room to kind of continue discussing a show like this, connecting it 2016s modern world and view of cartoons.

That podcast was amazing! Many things fell into place for me and it was nice to hear you talk about the show. Regarding the scientists! You're not alone, if it's something I kind of felt I had to share with NA fans was exactly that... Their voices were sharp and annoying. It's a shame but hey, they weren't present in every episode.

    Thanks once again!

The story you posted Jack was touching indeed. I think many people who are involved in childrens cartoons live through their careers knowing little about the actual impact of the stories told on children. Only later will they find out that it has meant so much for people who either made it into their morning routine or people who have had unfortunate backgrounds. I saw a quick little panel with Alan Oppenheimer who talked about a similar story where these two adults approached him talking about how the original He-man series had literally saved their lives as kids. He teared up while talking about it.

I guess its natural to be sceptic, being from a middle class family where cartoons were just entertainment like any other but most importantly I had the choice to watch whatever I wanted. More and more stories like the one above need to be heard.

Knowing that you as a writer can't be helped but be affected by these things brings warmth to the community (:

    Thanks for sharing.
