View Master Virtual Reality Masters of the Universe set from Mattel

When SDCC had just began Pixel Dan posted a picture of a View Master set from Masters of the Universe. He stated it was on the Mattel Booth.

Does anybody know more about this set. It looks cool, i loved this in my childhood!

Yes. Now it's virtual reality. It's pretty cool. We bought it for my son for Christmas last year.

Didn't know anything about this vr view master until I saw this topic. Checked it out online a little. Turns out Target's website has the starter packs on sale for like $12.59 (regularly $30) and the other experience sets for like $7.79 (no MOTU, though). Just thought I'd let everyone know in case you want to get one cheap for if and when the MOTU set does come out. Oh, and I guess Target is price matching their own internet prices now. At the store near me, they still rang up full price. But when I mentioned the online price, they just made me go to guest services. A bit of a hassle, but they still did it--first for me.

Here's a YouTube link of Mark Morse talking about the updated View Master:

I guess this is where Mattel re-assigned him.

I got this set like a year ago and I like it. I still have the original masters and I can't wait for this new one.

So it looks like this has been released. I stumbled across it on Amazon just this morning! I even got it as an add-on item for only $6.50 and it should even be here in time for Christmas. This was the only thread I ever saw about this, so I apologize if this is old news.

I'm curious if any of you have played it yet, and what you think about it.
Hope to see you at Power-Con 2020!

I read the reviews on Amazon since I was wanting to justify buying the unit for my kids and picking up the MOTU release. They made it sound like it didn't turn out very good. I'll probably buy one anyway.

I played the free preview. I enjoyed it, but my boys loved it.

We definitely need more feedback if we can get it. The MOTU pack only has 2 reviews on Amazon so far. One person got tired of it quickly, and the other person said their grandson loved it. Not a lot to go on, unfortunately.

It can be a little disorienting though, but neat. I will probably buy the whole thing after Christmas.

I just ordered it from Amazon (less than $7!) yesterday for the kids (aren't kids a great excuse to have more MOTU stuff in the house?). They are going to freak!

I ordered the View-Master VR and the MotU Experience Pack a few days ago.
Luckily the app and the View-Master are suitable for my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy S5).
After a bit of trying I could start the game.
Totally weird to look through the View-Master. My eyes needed several trials to get used to the 3D-experience.
The game isn't quite difficult. Managed to play through it in the 3rd attempt.
There are 7 levels which took me about half an hour to play through.
Sometimes it seems to be quite easy, then there are situations, which were a bit harder. Sometimes it isn't 100% clear, what you are supposed to do, especially when fighting the bosses.
The graphics is quite ok, I'm not playing that much games with my smartphone, so I haven't much of a reference.
Reminds me a bit of the 200X PS2-game.

After playing through the normal levels, you get access to the hardcore mode, which I haven't tried yet.

Conclusion/Result: It's nice to have. A few easter eggs, but I wish there would have been more MotU characters inside.
I wonder, if Mattel is continuing with the View-Master VR. The total amount of experience packs is rather small. And the View-Master seems not to work with newer smartphones, such as iPhone7 or Samsung Galaxy S7, because the list of phones suitable for the View-Master is not updated on the View-Master-Homepage.
And in the App-store all View-Master-apps have a limited run.
Maybe the View-Master VR wasn't such a big success?

Masters Of The Universe Virtual Reality View Master

    Hey MOTU Fans

Now, I'm not actually sure what this is, but it's described as a Virtual Reality View Master, kind of like the old reel and camera set up, but this time more "digital", and I'm not sure if something like this has already been posted. Still, it's MOTU, it features Evil-Lyn, and it looks like a lot of fun.

I've found similar items for other franchises, which I'll post about in the Other Forum where they are more appropriate.

    Cheers, Mikey

Very cool! I still have my old viewmaster and a set of MOTU reels.

I wonder what device uses these. Is there a new View Master out?
