The surrealism sets in with Issue #13 of the fortnightly MOTU comic, the review of which is now live on the website!

This is a breakthrough edition for the MOTU comic in many ways. Renewed from the initial 12-issue contract with Mattel, Brian Clarke was free to be as experimental and weird as he liked with the comics, and it was with Issue #13 that the MOTU UK Comic really took off, kickstarting its heyday. Most notably, Issue #13 features the story debut of new writer James Hill, with one of the UK Comics' most legendary and infamously weird stories - the stunning and breathtaking "The Reality Shaper"!

The comic contains the following three stories:

    MY SWORD, MY ENEMY
He-Man is attacked out of the blue by a mysterious and seemingly formless opponent, which causes strange apparitions to appear out of empty air and attack our hero, and even turns He-Man's own sword against him!

    ORKO AND THE GENIE
Orko finds a magic lamp in his junk cupboard, and unwittingly sets free an evil genie that joins forces with Skeletor.

    THE REALITY SHAPER
Things have changed on Eternia... very much changed. All the members of the Heroic Warriors, the Evil Horde and Skeletor's Evil Warriors - He-Man included - are willingly serving Hordak, who sits securely on the throne of Eternia's Royal Palace as he prepares the entire three armies for a conquest of the entire universe in his name. The one person on Eternia who senses that something is wrong is The Sorceress - but can she trace the source of this altered reality on Eternia - and more importantly can she defeat it?

The MOTU UK Comics Fan Site is happy to present our second interview with one of the comics' writers... James Hill!

James Hill wrote for both the Masters of the Universe and She-Ra UK Comics and his stories were notable for their dark, sombre and frequently experimental tone, which took the comics into new territories and delved deeper into the emotional edge of the MOTU/She-Ra saga.

James is also notable for having written the whole of the 1989 MOTU Annual published by World, and later became editor of the UK MOTU Comics published in the mid-00s by Newsstand to accompany the 200x relaunch of the brand.

James was kind enough to spare some time to conduct an in-depth interview over email, and here is the first part, in which he talks about his background in comics and the inspiration behind the fan favourite stories "The Reality Shaper" and "Taming The Dragons".

Click below to read the interview, and part 2 will be posted soon!

VERY EXCITING NEWS for all fans of the UK MOTU and She-Ra Comics!

Our friend in Spain, Dani Ramón Abril, has been working very hard for some time now on Yo tengo el Poder: la historia de los Masters del Universo en España., a book about the history of the MOTU franchise in Spain. As many of you know by now, the artwork for the UK London Editions Comics was done by a team of artists based in Spain, who worked for Selecciones Illustradas (SI).

Well thanks to Dani's hard efforts, he has managed to locate and interview the artists who provided the artwork for the UK MOTU and She-Ra comics, and we can finally unite the fans with the names and faces behind the artwork!

So without further ado, these are Amador García and Jose María Ortiz Tafalla, who together with Joan Boix, drew the artwork for nearly all the pages of the UK comics. Along with them, Aurelio Bevia and Francisco González Vilanova also lent their pencils (always uncredited). Joan Escandell and Esteban Maroto also participated in the later issues, but indirectly, with material imported from Germany through Comicon.

Dani has provided the UK Comics Fan Site with the art credits for every single cover and story in every issue of the UK MOTU/She-Ra comics - so from now on our reviews will be crediting the artists by name, and the reviews already on the site will be updated with these credits!

More details on these artists will follow soon - in the meantime, head on over to the UK Comics Fan Site's Facebook page, and enjoy these pictures of the artists behind the artwork, and a selection of their works!:

    She-Ra Issue #4 Review

The UK Comics Fan Site's Review of Issue #4 of the She-Ra comic is live!

This issue (released October 1986) contains the following stories:

    HORDAK'S EVIL BREW
While Princess Adora sleeps, Hordak drugs her into a prolonged deep sleep with an evil potion of his own making. He then kidnaps her and sets her adrift at sea in a tiny boat, intending to wreak havoc throughout Etheria while the Rebels search for the missing princess.

    OPERATION WHIRLPOOL
Continuing from "Hordak's Evil Brew", Adora, upon awakening to find herself adrift at sea in the small boat, has transformed into She-Ra and must contend with the fearsome sea demon Krack-Nar and enlist the help of Mermista in getting back to dry land.

    THE NULL-STONE OF NABOB
Hordak has uncovered the Null-Stone of Nabob, an extremely powerful stone hidden away by the First Ones due to its power to completely cancel out any magic force it comes into contact with. He intends to fly over all Etheria until all the magic on the planet has been drained, and as She-Ra's powers could be drained purely by being in its presence, She-Ra has no choice but to counter this threat as Adora.

I recently bought one of the UK MOTU comics on E-Bay, I'm still waiting for it to arrive in the mail, and I can't wait to find and get more, along with any POP or NA comics.
"Tell me I am beautiful - it means nothing to me. Tell me I am intellectual - well, I know it already. Tell me I am funny however, and that is the greatest compliment in the world that anyone can give me".

    She-Ra Issue #5 Review

The MOTU/POP UK Comics Fan Site's review of Issue #5 of She-Ra is now live!

The first story in this comic is infamous among London Editions staff for a sexually suggestive panel featuring Frosta, which had to be heavily edited before the comic went to the presses, to prevent complaints!

This issue features the following stories:

    THE WUGLIES, PART 1
While enjoying a fun break in the icy polar regions of Etheria, Adora and Madame Razz accidentally stumble down a hole and are taken prisoner by an underground race of creatures called Wuglies, whose usually hidden kingdom seems to be under some kind of threat.

    THE WUGLIES, PART 2
Adora transforms into She-Ra and sets about investigating the Wuglies' kingdom, finding out it is under threat from a Horde mining operation which will destroy the entire kingdom unless it is stopped. She-Ra seeks the help of Frosta to put an end to the Horde's evil.

    CLOUD OVER ETHERIA
Shadow Weaver uses her dark magic to conjure up the Cloud of Evil, which causes Adora's friends to turn against her when they are soaked by its rain. As She-Ra, Adora sets out to foil Shadow Weaver's scheme.

    Twins of Power Special Review

    ***BIG NEW REVIEW ALERT***

The MOTU/POP UK Comics Fan Site's review of the legendary Twins of Power special starring both He-Man and She-Ra, published in November 1986, is now live!

This special, the only one of its kind, unites He-Man and She-Ra and their respective comrades in an epic 4-part adventure titled "The Third Sword", which also introduces the character of Horde Prime, the big evil mastermind behind the scenes, who even Hordak and Skeletor are compelled to obey!

When Horde Prime discovers the existence of a Third Sword created eons ago by the powers that created He-Man and She-Ra's swords - a Sword of Evil - he knows that if he can gain possession of this sword, he will gain power exceeding that of He-Man and She-Ra put together and will have all the power he needs to become Master of the Universe. He sends Hordak and Skeletor out across Eternia and Etheria to retrieve both halves of the Sword of Evil and bring them to him. As He-Man and She-Ra face their biggest threat yet, with the fate of the entire universe at stake, can their combined powers stop Horde Prime before all is lost?

The Twins of Power special was a huge bestseller at the time of its release and has since become a much-sought-after collectors' item by MOTU and POP fans worldwide, as well as coining the term 'Twins of Power' which was used prominently in the bios for the MOTU Classics toy line in the last decade and also became the name of a UK-based convention for MOTU and POP fans.

    MOTU Issue #18 Review

Our review of Issue #18 of the MOTU comic is now live!

Released November 1986, this was the first issue of the UK Comics not to feature either Skeletor or Hordak, and was also the issue that debuted the legendary 'Secret Files of Scrollos' strip which ran to the very end of the fortnightly comic's run. This issue features the following stories:

    ORKO'S MISTAKE
Orko is sent to a coastal village which was recently devastated by a tidal wave, to cheer up the children with a magic show. But he unwittingly causes further trouble for the villagers when one of his spells works much better than expected.

    RETURN OF THE FAKER
Faker, the evil clone of He-Man, still full of rage over his previous defeat at the hands of the real He-Man, finally returns for a rematch with his hated enemy - and this time he is stronger and more cunning.

    THE SECRET FILES OF SCROLLOS
The first in an ongoing series of strips detailing the origins of the MOTU characters and the background to the saga on Eternia, this strip profiles the members of the Heroic Warriors.

Our review of Issue #7 of the UK She-Ra comic is now live!

Released November 1986, this issue features the following stories:

    FREEDOM CASTLE
Adora, Madame Razz and Broom pay a visit to Freedom Castle, a ruined old fortress once home to the Guardians of Etheria, who protected Etheria centuries ago. Legend has it that the castle is now haunted by the spirits of the Guardians, and exploring its interior, Madame Razz finds that there may be some truth to this legend...

    A THORNY PROBLEM
Shadow Weaver wreaks havoc with The Book of Living Spells, casting a spell that causes thorns and briars to grow rapidly throughout the Whispering Woods, threatening its residents. It is up to She-Ra and her friends to save the woods and stop the spell.

    CATRA'S SWORD OF HONOUR
Determined to become as powerful as She-Ra, Catra kidnaps Madame Razz, Broom and the Twiggets and forces them to make her a sword of her own that will be just as powerful as She-Ra's.
