Display Case for Snake Mountain Research

    Hi Everyone!

I've been looking around for what that best display case options are for when my Snake Mountain arrives. I live in the desert so absurd amounts of dust collect on a weekly basis and I'd rather not have to clean everything regularly.

Since Snake Mountain will be the center piece to my toy collection, I've been planning on displaying a mashup of pop culture icons from my collection (RGB, Neca Batman/Terminator/Predator/Alien/TMNT, SOTA Street Fighter) alongside my MOTUC figures. So the display case I've been seeking will need to be spacious enough to allow for figures surrounding the base of the mountain or other diorama pieces I add.

The closest example can be seen in 2018's Super7 Hordak's Lair pop-up.

That acrylic case looks massive! And it looks like the perfect size for my plans since I'll probably need a 4x1.5x5 ft. 5-sided case (my base will probably be a table I create or repurpose).

I've looked at the following sites so far:

Another option would be to DIY with cut pieces of acrylic.

Anyone else on the same quest or have anything similar for your collection? I'll update with new examples posted below.

I believe Super7 got their case made via Tap Plastics, if that helps:

I'm building one. I won't be displaying it open though. To big and my case will have to be the same size as my castle case so they can be stacked. The inside will be a dioramma setting. I have yet to build the castle one yet lol. Haven't thought out plans or took measurements. I'm limited on space so I have to custom build cases to fit in places and diorammas is the reason I got caught up in this mess of toy collecting as an adult bs and i ain't dusting ish. That thing you showed up there that s7 had is no more than a fishtank. Something to keep in mind, glass is cheaper than plexi, not sure about acrylic. Having a glass shop whip up a custom tank might not be to expensive compared to a plastic.

For my displays, I use shelving units with acrylic sheets on the front.

The short version is: Buy a Stäckūbe (available at Menards) or a different box to use for the display. Attach mirror clips at the bottom and movable storm door clips at the top to hold the acrylic sheets. You can get mirror clips and storm door clips at hardware stores. Acrylic sheets can be purchased at hardware stores and cut down, or you can order specific sizes at places like TapPlastics.com.

Spent my life owning reptiles, and bringing their tanks to life making them look like real environments. That's what got me into diorammas. This wouldn't work for the snake mountain, but something I was always fond of but I can build myself, but reptile tanks are the way to go for the uncrafty, but they have set ups for lights and are enclosed. Some even have rock back drops. Makes great for a dioramma setting in a dust less case. Building something ain't always cheaper than buying something manufactured. So if one has the space and not crafty or handy, buying a reptile tank would be the way to go. I suggest this to many. If you've never seen one go to a site like dr. Foster and smiths. Unsure of the name, keep in mind these ain't cheap but no case will be cheap unless you get them ikea things that only seem to look good with figures like mondos. Lots of wasted space you can't use with motuc. The website I'm unsure of just Google dr foster and smith and the site should pop up and then search reptile enclosures.

You should see some of the stuff I made as a kid.

Here's my latest case I haven't really showed off yet . One day I'll make a post and show it off. But this was designed to sit and hug the top of my dresser. So it won't slide, the bottom sits around the top of the dresser. Can't tell from the pic but this thing is pretty big. It's almost 3 ft across and almost 2 ft deep and almost 2 ft high. Wasted space at the bottom but that's so granamyr can sit in the hole. The left side houses all the wires for the fire lights in the hole. Then at the top I have 3 lights and then a light inside that orb I made. They all have their own batteries and switches and are actually connected to the case unlike all diorammas you see made with leds. They all have battery packs that hang and stuff. Mine works like a rc car or toy. I wasn't having no battery pack that hangs or you have to stuff somewhere.

This is in the dark with just lights on inside. Pay no mind to how it's set up in there. I have to add more things and move stuff around. Like that chair lol. It was in there to see how much room it took up. I just snapped a pic real quick. The chair is from the cartoon, closest that I could make it to their image. I was working off a small image on my phone. So the chair won't be like that in the final lol. Have a treasure chest that's close to the one in the cartoon that the chair sits on. Their is all gold. I wanted to make it gold and wood so I did that as a gold chest made no sense. Oh, this also has foot pegs and magnets to keep the door closed. Then opens like a drawbridge with chains keeping it from dropping down all the way when open.
