MOTU isn't GI Joe. MOTU aren't superheroes that have a real identity they keep secret. So there was no need to continue with alternate names for the characters.
That's too bad. I actually really enjoyed those. Oh well.

In other cases, the "real name" section was used to give us their full names.
Hawke, Vultak or Lodar don't need any "real names" because that can easily be their names. But Lord Masque already has an official "real name", it's Rakka. And it makes sense that he has one, he wasn't born with that mask.
Similarly, I find it hard to believe that Quakke was always called that, even before he got the meteor hammer.
Concur. I wasn't thinking of it like a secret identity (like G.I. Joe or superheroes) just that many/most names are based on a gimmick of the character that they wouldn't have acquired until later in life, so it was obviously not the name they were born with. It's not a huge deal, just disappointed to see them go, as I felt it added a bit of realism to some of these characters.

Loved the Vultak bio! I only wish they would have tied him in with Hunga the Harpy. He's kinda like a male harpy... He totally could have been the Ptolemy to Hunga's Cleopatra. Hunga maintained the Harpy's independence from the Horde, and Vultak ended up allying with the Horde.

It would have been cool to have a more POP tie than MOTU tie, but all's well. It's still cool.

I guess I always thought that this was an artistic choice not to reveal Vultak as opposed to it being him turning into an actual shadow. Either way I like it.

Vultak's bio is great, by the way.
Agreed. I loved the bios. I thought real names were great. For many characters. But you they did not need to reinvent the wheel. They definately had their place.

I am 100% certain that is what this is. The old "in the shadows to hide their real identity until the reveal" kind of thing.

However using that to create something new is kinda neat.

I'm glad to see that part go. I mean, it did make sense with characters like the Sorceress or Man At Arms where their real names were mentioned in the cartoon.

I believe it was just a timing issue. The bios were done but they only got around to putting them on the Roton there at the end.
    Thanks for the info Val!

Hey Penny, when you and Eric worked on Fang-Or's bio did the two of you talk a lot with Axel to get more of a feel of who the character is?? Just curious.

Credit for Fang-Or's bio goes to Eric. I think I only suggested Rattle Trap's inclusion for that one. Eric wrote it and did an amazing job with it!

I don't think we talked to Axel about it at the time, since it was a secret that we were writing the bios. Initially, we were under a strict NDA with Mattel in 2016. When we shifted to Super7, things lightened up a little bit and I think Axel found out it was us when Val asked the three of us to proof the final cardbacks for Super7 Wave 1 around September of 2017.

That said, I'm sure Eric was at least partly inspired by the design queues in Axel's artwork in terms of the mechanic tools, and probably q&a replies from Scott re: Fang-Or's role as a mechanic for the Snake Men. I think my favorite thing (which Axel loved too) was Fang-Or mobilizing Lady Slither's Snake Lair. That was ALL Eric, and I think it's such a cool idea!

If memory serves me correctly I believe the Rattle Trap was shown once being driven by Vipra in the Bravestarr series.

Edit: Yep, I believe it does in "Bravestarr - The Legend" roughly about the 15 minutes 26 seconds mark. And again at the 1 hour, 10 minute, and 51 second mark.

Cool! We were thinking of the Rattle Trap Snake Men vehicle idea from the MOTU Magazine: http://www.he-man.org/publishing/ite...741&image=5968

It does bear some similarity to Vipra’s version though!

Indeed it does. It would be cool if Super 7 could do both her character and the vehicle to add to the Snakemen. I'm sure you and Eric would have a blast writing bios for both.

By the same token, would i be wrong in assuming that the single-carded Horde Trooper will be getting the same treatment? I wasn't kidding when I asked this earlier..!

I like this new info for Serpentine Hssss. Especially the bit regarding He-Ra. It would've been great if we had gotten a figure of her. *sigh*

If only each evocation of some new characters could guarantee their breakthrough in the collection ...

I really like the inclusion of He-Ra here. It would be great to get her in figure from some day. I would love to get a bio for the staff of Ka.
Coming straight out of Preternia, tribal chieftess and the original WARRIOR GODDESS, SHARELLA!!!

Sharella needs her day in Classics. She is the only remaining vintage POG character that needs a figure.

My top 5 wants for MOTUC: Sharella, Hunga the Harpy, Sagitar, Snake Goddess & Red Beast

From the character guide (awesome book, by the way): "The daughter of He-Ro's son and King Grayskull's daughter, and ancestor to the twins of power..."
