Hello everyone!

I am one lucky 80s kid who had the chance to enjoy playing with the original incarnation oh He-Man & friends. I also loved the Filmation series. Actually, my most precious Xmas gift was a VHS tape with two MOTU episodes, which I played over and over for years.

I have been following MOTU news for years, but it was never a good moment to resume my collection. The fact that my mom gave away all my toys didn’t help. All I did was buy the deluxe DVD sets when they came out.

Recently, I had to give a medical talk and decided to use MOTU as the background story. That, together with Netflix’s documentary, have sparked a flame, and I’ve gone in a shopping spree in order to regain my memories. I have started with the commemorative series and some original figures.

MOTU classics has always appalled me. However, the fact that it is such a large collection now, takes me back. I’m thinking of buying the recent ultimates, in spite of their reseller prices, and stick to hypothetical future ultimates...

Out of curiosity, how did you use MOTU as the backdrop for your medical talk?

*LOL* It’s about following standards in research reports and publications, so I told them that the fact Mattel reused molds in most figures was a win-win for makers and buyers. They were cheaper to make and, at the same time, provided a consistent experience to kids, allowing them to exchange some parts, vehicles and other elements. Also, the fact that most figures were similar made easier for buyers to distinguish genuine MOTU from bootlegs. That’s easy to extrapolate to research: using standards is easier to write, to read, critize, build upon...

I have my talk ready now, but I will be giving it in a couple of weeks for he first time. Most of the attendants are millennials, so I guess most are unfamiliar with MOTU. I can’t wait to see their reaction.
