A little more progress on some stuff. I wasn't able to sculpt every detail that was once a sticker, so I had to create some sticker art for some areas. This is just a test print I did at work, hopefully I can get these printed out on vinyl and cut to shape.

Those pictures of the all but complete Classics Attak-Trak are just PHENOMENAL..! If I could wish for just ONE Christmas present, this year...

Seriously, though, take your time, finish it the way you want it, and then you can lean back and see your creation make waves throughout the entire MOTU-loving Universe..!

Testing, testing, testing. These are some extra parts I needed to test casting. Some of the silicone rubber used for casting may not work when exposed to things containing sulfur and other materials. The mold worked, and I cast a few pieces with different metallic powders. Some turned out better than other.

Those were just test parts. Basically, I've used so many different types of equipment to make the 3D parts, I ended up with parts made with a lot of different materials. That could cause problems when making molds from them. In this case, I used some raw unpainted pieces and 1 painted. The material I used to make the mold was a platinum cure silicone. Platinum cure silicones can react to materials like sulfur and other chemicals, preventing them from curing and hardening. In this case, it cured properly. I also tested Tin cure silicone, which also worked.
The finished pieces are much more refined and have a smoother finish. I just have to take my time making the molds to ensure I capture all the details, and make the final pieces easy to assemble. That's my next step.
I've recently been doing a lot of research into materials. Each material has different properties, and different parts of the Attak Trak need different properties. For instance, the teeth need to be flexible because they're so small. If they were made of a plastic that was hard, they could be brittle and snap off. By making them out of a flexible plastic, if something were to hit them, they could take the impact and be less likely to break. The seat belt needs to be a rubbery material that is a little stiffer than a rubber band. The tread covers and other pieces need to be clear, while others need to be impact resistant. I can group all the parts into about 4 categories of specific materials. Now I just have to determine the best option for each specific material, its properties, and the best options for the kit.
