    Then why does the card art show MAA's plate armor on his back too?

    It's a weird choice. It's the Filmation designs in MOTU vintage scale. I don't think anyone was like "yeaaaaah! They left his back open!"

    Yeah, weird right? Well that's one if it's appeal, mismatching art to actual toys.

    It was always supposed to be Filmation meets vintage. A more Filmation look done in vintage toy style.

    I just saw an Alcala image from back in the day where his armor was closed in the back. It may have saved Mattel money but I think they should have closed the back, and Super7 definitely should have closed the back.

    Well mini comics has a lot of inconsistencies. Not only Man-At-Arms but mostly Teela, Sorceress, Goddess, King Randor, etc. I wouldn't really hinge a look to mini-comics for 5.5 scale figures. Classics line do that faithful variation more than the vintage line.
