I think they have to mostly play it safe to cast as wide a net as possible. This film will be a popcorn film, but hopefully a good popcorn film. This film isn't winning any Academy Awards unless it is in the technical categories. Let's just hope they don't have a trailer where nobody looks remotely like the original characters or Gangsta's Paradise is playing in the background. If Skeletor and the special effects look cool, it will go a long way.

Somebody will hopefully blink first. It might occur naturally if either of them has production delays or re-shoots. Bumblebee was definitely hurt going against Aquaman. Despite generally good reviews for Bumblebee, Last Knight made significantly more money. If they hadn't had huge hit movies before those two, Transformers would probably be sitting on the movie shelf for awhile. I think Mortal Kombat has just as high a hill to climb as Masters of the Universe. It is hard to make a good film about a video game that will be well received. Most video game films tend to bomb or underachieve.

Comparing Last Knight to Bumblebee movie on gross rev alone is a bit disengeuous. TLK made 600m, but cost 217m to make, and had to pay out huge % to bay and wahlberg. Bumblee made 460m on a $135m budget. But Hasbro/Paramount publicly stated TLK was a disappointment, and that Bumblee was a success.

Tilda Swinton is great! The Sorceress or Evil-Lyn I wonder?

Typecasting a bit, but she would be a great Evil-Lyn. Can't see her in a heroic role.

Have you seen Doctor Strange? I think she would make a great Sorceress.

Evil-Lyn? One word, one name, one towering actress -- Uma.

Yeah, yeah, I know she's forty-nine. To quote Tony Horton -- my P90X god -- "Aging is for those who don't know any better." Trust me, Uma knows better than to age. Forever sizzling.

Having Uma and her amazing talent and hotness in the film would elevate it to a much higher and broader level imo.

I see the Sorceress as a maternal character. I have see Dr. Strange. Tilda is an excellent Ancient One. She's also a fine White Witch (Narnia), Gabriel in Constantine and creepy boss in Snowpiercer. But she's exactly maternal in any of these roles.

I wouldn't read too much into Adam Nee's Instagram stories. He's quite a peculiar fellow and he posts some very random things. The other day he posted a random picture of a lobster with music playing. I don't know, maybe he was teasing Mer-Man?

This made me laugh harder than it probably should have.

You should have a cameo like Stan Lee!

I think she would make a better Evil Lynn than Sorceress.

Tilda Swinton would be into her 60's in 2021. Unless they're planning to re-envision the characters pretty significantly, I think you can scratch her off the list as Evil-Lyn. In case you're wondering, like I was, Meg Foster was 38 when MOTU '87 was filming. Now if Tilda played a detached, above-it-all take on Sorceress? Sure, sign me up.

By comparison, 49 is not out of the question at all. The bigger question is can she camp it up - without going full Poison Ivy?

If we're doing fantasy-casting though, I'm nominating Eva Green as Evil-Lyn.
It's a big rock. I can't wait to tell my friends. They don't have a rock this big.

I suggested this a few weeks back - glad we're on the same page! The two of us should start a petition!

Does Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 mean anything to you? Or a little film called Pulp Fiction?

Oh god, how did I get that wrong. Yes, him too. Point being, Adam Nee's humour is odd. A bit like me, actually. He posted the Sy-Klone toy commercial recently, too, with a hashtag "sneak peak", and videos from the MOTU Power Tour. He's a funny one.

I think Adam Nee likes to throw out false items to throw people off. Even though there are directors, writers, an actor for the main character, and a release date, I am still not 100% sure this is happening. Not until I hear that cameras are rolling on set.

We don't even have any production art yet, something!

Well this is the closest we have ever been, we've had the actor confirmed (he announced it on TV too), filming date and location confirmation, release date, directors, costume designers, casting calls for Skeletor, Randor, Teela etc.

Yes I suppose it can all be pulled at the last minute, but I it's hard not to get excited by all that's happening.

btw would we even see production art at this point?

Even with all those things you still don't think its happening? I don't think Adam Nee is a mere dreamer, hoping to get the job. Even though he's young, he's been doing this stuff for 10 years. Yes, it could all go south, and yes, you are right to wait for the cameras to start rolling, but all the indicators we have so far is that this is it, its happening this time. We've never had any of this sort of stuff before. Its clearly in pre-production, as even a costume designer has been hired (you forgot that one ).

Also, MOTU was listed in the latest issue of Production Weekly. So there's that, too.

The more MOTU movie news, the better! I would also love to hear news of a POP or New Adventures movie.
