Yep, I'm invested in those 2. the Movie is a urban legend of sorts at this point

A MOTU movie that caters to old-school fans will not be enough - while a movie that disregards these fans would be a mistake.

Masters of the Universe will have to compete with the likes of comic-book movies, GOT type streaming series, and expectations created by the new series' on Netflix. It could very well bomb in the theater which would be disastrous for the brand.

IMO, the most important move that Sony can make is to look for a team that understands what makes MOTU so special and unique, and why it can still be relevant after all these years.
Use the two shows as a bench mark of interest. Check the viewership and go from there with the live action.

Or just do what Scorsese did on The Irishman. Big Big movie but proceed on getting viewership without sacrificing budget on Netflix.

Personally, I think the Netflix thing will happen. Wouldn't surprise me if a deal has already been done, or is close to being done, hence Adam Nee pleading with fans to just be patient a bit longer (which people in this thread seem to have ignored over the course of the last page and a half). Some fans may not like it, because they were expecting a big cinema release (as was I). However, I actually care more about the film, first and foremost. We still get our big-budget MOTU movie, and if its actually a good movie, ultimately, who cares (apart from possibly Sony and Tom Rothman, of course)? Netflix offers many opportunities to filmmakers that big Hollywood studios don't, especially up and comers (like the Nee bros). Creative freedom being one of them. I guarantee that a Netflix-backed MOTU movie will have a lot less studio tempering than a solo Hollywood movie would, and would probably end up being a lot more faithful to the source material as a result.

Fyi, Magic Eight Ball is in development at Mattel. I've been told that the film with be dark. They are also developing a Thomas the Tank Engine big screen film.

I suppose that it would have to be along the lines of horror/ suspense...

After all, the Magic Eight Ball did make a guest appearance during a pretty dark scene in Shazam.

Is it the same Thomas movie that was planned to be directed by Shane Acker (creator of the movie 9)? That one's been in limbo for a long while. Not sure if that parallel bodes the same with MotU or not.

Hello! I am new to the forum and have a question. When do you think they will start shooting the movie?

From what I've heard, Thomas will be a bit more traditional. Remember, it targets a younger demographic.
