Question: what’s the scale of this line?

Mattel: The dolls are not scaled.

    --------------------

Kidscreen updated the article that I posted yesterday with the following information.

The full range will launch at Target in the US in August, with dolls available for US$14.99 and US$29.99.

Fingers crossed for the 14.99 dolls! They could be the better scale for me

I’m disappointed we’re not getting Leech! And does that rule out Scorpia as well? Does a scorpion have scales?

The 14.99 will also be 12 inch. Normally the cheaper hve sculpted clothes or very little accessories. I collect dolls so I know this lol.

I'd be surprised if there is even a Hordak in the line. He's more of a borrowed character from MOTU. I'd guess just Bow for males. Maybe, a Sea Hawk down the road if the line does well. It is too bad there won't be any action figures, but you don't see many of those in the girls' toy isles.

It's about ding dong time we got an announcement for figures! I was starting to think Mattel forgot how all of this works.

Hi everyone long time no post here. Hope you all are doing well. Just like to say I like that She-Ra in the two pack. I think Mattel and Stevenson has settled on a compromise with the design that both parties agree on. Love the result and hopefully these are in Australian stores in the future.

    Annalise (the_ageofa):
    Hey Adora ❤️ : @Mattel
SHE’S HERE and it’s a partial face reveal!!! Out of all the characters in the line, I have been the most excited for Mattel to unveil Catra, not only because she’s my favorite (snarky, badass, looks great in a tux and a dress, morally grey) but also because I know she’s so many of your faves too! I can’t wait for y’all to see how many details we packed into her full doll but for now here’s a fun little tidbit about her. When you work with a collaborative partner on a line (in this case the Dreamworks licensing and the animation studio), it takes a lot of effort and back and forth tweaking as both sides make sure that it truly represents the animation and works as a toy. When it came to Catra, we painted the head for the first time for our test model way back when and EVERYONE loved it, straight out of the gate. For those of you in the business, y’all know how rare that is! So if that’s not a good omen for the future, I don’t know what is!

Dig Catra's eye - her ear is a tad too small, would have been cool if they could have made them out of felt - then perhaps they could've been bigger.
A fabulous new wardrobe was revealed to me the day I held aloft my sword and said...

So, these are the same scale and design as the SDCC She-Ra & Shadow Weaver?

That's a good question. They're not giving us a good sense of how big these toys are going to be, only how much each of the two sizes is going to cost. Maybe the SDCC toys are a preview of the $29.99 toys, which will have rooted hair and removable clothing, and the $14.99 toys are going to be 5-6" and more like traditional action figures, with molded hair and clothing and whatnot.

I wonder what Bow could have that none of the female dolls have.

That's what I was assuming too, for the $30 dolls. I wonder though if the $15 price could be for "basic" versions, with reduced articulation, more plastic-molded clothes, smaller package--just cheaper all around. I think all those lines like DC SHGs, Monster High, Ever After High all had those kind of basic dolls. I want to say that the DC Super Hero Girl 6" figures were only $10. I got a few, they were pretty bad quality, hopefully any She-Ra ones will at least be able to stand up.

If this line does well, I'd love to see Mattel throw older fans a bone with perhaps a sub line of classic-designed dolls in this style/build.

The new show--and really, I guess the new universe of She-Ra--is a mixed bag for me. I certainly don't hate it, but I don't know if I can say I like it. There are simply too many aspects that don't sit right with me, and some of my favorite elements of classic She-Ra--with all it's quirks and flaws--are absent from the latest iteration.

And BTW, I just saw the "Light Hope" episode last night, and wow--I hated it. Loathed it. I couldn't watch it in one go, I had to stop half way through. Some episodes are decent, some are not so good. "Light Hope" completely sucked.

I have several of the DC Super Hero Girls dolls (Supergirl, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, Bumblebee, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn), so I would love to add the New POP ones to my collection as well.

The DC Super Hero Girls are fantastic!

I wouldn't mind a new She-Ra line done in the same style, but maybe at the smaller (Bratz/Monster High) scale...

Yeah, and image how big Swifty will have to be in the 12" scale. And we need Swift Wind right?

Then again, isn't She-Ra supposed to be like 7' tall in the show? Maybe the other characters will be scaled down to 10" after all. Not counting on it, but maybe.

    Glimmer teaser from Mattel!

    --------------------

    Annalise (the_ageofa):ARGHH mommmmm! ✨ : @mattel
Pt 4 and y’all guessed it, it’s our favorite spunky teen glitter princess w mom issues, the third part of the Best Friends Squad...it’s GLIMMER!!! ✨✨ I mean, how could we launch SPOP toys without including everyone in the Best Friends Squad? (Catra’s a honorary member, I have my for a eventual redemption Zuko style pls). This teaser is all about her seeing the front of her shoes but I actually can’t wait for the whole 360 of the shoes to be revealed at #SDCC!!! You are all going to freak! Only 7 days until all will be revealed!!!

I'm sure that most, if not all, of the Princesses will share the same body mold.

It doesn't really go with what the showrunners are trying to push about different body types, though.
