So what’s the consensus on that? Hasbro?

Honestly, with the way Wal-Mart treats Mattel product, I’m half convinced Hasbro will end up buying Mattel before Origins launches. In that case, maybe we should just jump ahead to imagining Marvel and Transformers MOTU mashups.

I won’t lie: after seeing Hasbro’s Ghostbusters Transformers, I did suggest to a bunch of TF fans that I wish Mattel could team up with Hasbro on some similar MOTU/TF releases. Ten years ago that’d be unthinkable but these guys have a lot of aligned interests in generating buzz post-TRU.

How great would a wind raider or roton transformer be?

Hasbro buying Mattel would be horrible for everyone...

While I don't see MOTUxTF, I could see MOTUxTMNT. Playmates and Mattel seem to have a working relationship, if going by TMNT WWE and Ghostbuster lines is any indication. Also part of me would love to see Playmates tackle the Street Sharks.

It would probably go the other way if they did that, right?

    TMNT as MOTU characters?

The reverse doesn't make a lot of sense to me.

Although maybe you could have something like:

    Don-at-Arms
    Mike-a-Nek
    Raph Man
    Leorko

    and

    Battle Rat

    Teamed up against:

    Shredator
    Kraangak
    Beastbop
    Trapsteady

Here's the thing, though. That's if Playmates did it.

I'm thinking it's far more likely that Mattel would get a one-off to something that somebody else has the regular license for than for Mattel to license MOTU out to anyone else.

And what would Mattel TMNT be? I don't think they'd do a Playmates style mashup. They'd make MOTU the main thing getting mashed up with something else.

Ghostbusters He-Man or something makes sense to me as a Mattel product because it's a He-Man that has a proton pack and a logo slapped on. TMNT He-Man doesn't make sense to me unless it's He-Man as a Ninja Turtle who isn't one of the main four.

It's like if you had Stranger Things He-Man. That would be a McFarlane thing if it's a Stranger Things character done up as He-Man. For it to make sense as a Mattel thing, it would have to be He-Man done up as someone else.

Maybe something like the DC Collectibles TMNT/Batman would work where you just have the Four Turtles and Shredder as "guest characters" in a MOTU-based line and then... uhm... He-Man and Battle Cat mutated together and Skeletor and Panthor combined with some sort of thing where the Dimension X mutagen gets used on MOTU characters?

It's gotta be something where MOTU isn't the tacked on part and gets a lot of the focus for Mattel to want to do it.

Here's some new news and images from this line: https://toynewsi.com/news.php?itemid=34420

The Rock, Braun Strowman/ Beast-Man, and Scareglow Undertaker are all new to me. Based on parts and accessories shown, I think we're sure to be getting Spikor, Battle Armor Variants, Stratos, Fisto, Man-E-Faces, Terror Claws Skeletor, and Scareglow in Origins. Honestly, Mattel is probably making an insanely smart move by releasing this line. They're building up the MOTU parts library with the WWE line's budget, getting MOTU fans to buy WWE figures, setting up WWE fans to buy some MOTU figures, test running the Origins bodies, and getting the MOTU brand out there a little more than it's been.

I hope they get some WWE females like Asuka, Becky, Charlotte, Nia and Sasha.

A Bret Hat as Rio-Blast would be cool.

Brock Lesnar as Hordak with a Paul Heyman as Imp.

I agree! I hope that we see some Teela, Evil-Lyn, Sorceress, Green Goddess, She-Ra, Catra, etc mashups!

Those would be awesome. They definitely need some females in the line.
As much as I like the WWE Retro figures I was really disappointed with the lack of any female figures. Some Hasbro style female wrestlers of current, vintage and attitude era characters would have been awesome like Trish, Lita, Chyna, Alundra Blaze, Asuka, Charlotte etc.

So the ring by itself has leaked and is selling on eBay.

Walmart’s computer inventory has listings for:

Grayskull Arena with 2 figures for under $30. (Likely to still be Cena and Triple H.)

Individual figures at under $15 with unique product codes for Finn Balor, Macho Man, and Jake the Snake.

Looks likely to be part of Walmart’s Christmas assortment.

    It's a shame these are Wal-Mart exclusives.

I would like a thing if it was a completely different thing.
Please check out my custom figures. The first few stink but I get better.

I’m hoping for an Iron Shiek figure since it looks like classic characters are on the table. That way I can make a nice Crimson Fury figure that I never got in Classics.

Honky Tonk Man might be cool too. Get parts to make a Origins Songster.
Gaping holes in my collection: Origins SDCC 2019 2 Pack, Weapons pack 1, Power & Honour book 1, SDCC artbook (maybe)

They're not completely different at all. Just need to be on a different buck.

Hopefully they do that with some of them. Maybe as exclusives or special releases to get them out there. People would eat these up if they did a SDCC Box Set on a classics buck. But alas...wishful thinking.

For what it is, I love the idea. Blends my loves of the 80s into a gestalt.

I’m just ribbin ya. I think the retro style really suits these guys though. Makes them kinda reminiscent of the Hasbros, but better because they’re He-Mans.

For my own personal collection? I would have bought a few MOTUC-ized guys for sure. I made a custom Undertaker and Kane for a death-themed faction of warriors. I wouldn’t go for modern wrestlers because zzzzzzz but Ultimate Warrior and Sting would be perfect.

I remember having a coupel of the old Hasbro WWF and Galoob WCEW figures and the ring but I wasn't too keen on them as they could barely move. I had far more fun with the several MOTU styled knock off wrestlers.

Yes a lot of the current wrestlers are very boring looking and all look the same. Some guy with long hair and a beard describes over half the roster. They need some gimmicks some looks to make them more unique and exciting like the 80's and early 90's wrestlers. Sheiks, Scotsmen, face paint, spiked shoulder pads, policemen, army men, Indians, sailors, jungle warriors etc.

Anyone seen anything new about these? I've seen a few of the rings pop up on Ebay but no figures yet. Very curious to get these in hand.

Zack Ryder just reviewed the Grayskull Mania Bundle on his YT channel, which he got from Mattel. No sights of anyone having the single-carded figures in hand yet. It seems to me that right now, no items are up for sale yet officially.

It's cool to see something officially available! I think I'll wait for the slightly pricier ring that comes with two figures, though.
