Masters of the Universe Revelation Netflix Series

Thread: Masters of the Universe Revelation Netflix Series

If you took away all the worthless user "reviews" on RT that pretty much amount to one sentence in length. I genuinely think the user rating would jump by about 20 to 30%. And yes, people were very primed to hate this. Revelation was made a target a long time ago, waaaaaaaaaaay before it was released, just like Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Wonder Woman before it, and those horrible Youtube channels like those clownfish clowns fuelled it. Anyone who denies this is either completely out of touch or is part of the problem.

I don't intensely dislike Revelations nor did I prime myself to dislike it. If anything I really wanted to love the series and avoided all spoilers and videos for the show. Yet I was still quite disappointed with it overall.
Yeah, this is where I am...just deep disappointment. I don't hate it (though I do despise this version of Teela), but I went in with too high expectations for it. I am anticipating the next five episodes just to have some closure on this whole dark ordeal. Just sad that this will probably be the last adult animated MOTU we see for a long time. Part of me wonders how Amazon Studios would have handled this series.

Has it ever occurred to you that Mattel DIRECTED Kevin Smith to focus on characters that weren't He-Man? Because Mattel wants to sell toys of OTHER characters and not just He-Man variants in a different shade of battle armor?
You're deflecting and you didn't answer the question and I already know you never will.

Any evidence? Just speculating? Move on people, nothing to see here.

I gave you more than one example against your claim.

    And it's a moot argument.

I already posted earlier in this thread how often He-Man shows up in each episode... but, apparently it's still not good enough because those were "flashbacks," "Memories," or "Illusions..."

I guess, unless He-Man is wearing a body-cam the whole time, people are gonna say this show isn't about He-Man... which, again, is untrue. This show/story/plot is all about He-Man.

I can certainly answer your question if it will make you feel better (although I know it won't.)

On one hand your question is rhetorical, because it's basically unanswerable in a way that would satisfy you.

It's also a straw man, because I never claimed you couldn't make that criticism (and if I had, I have no means of enforcement to take away your rights to share your opinion). You can complain about He-Man's screen time all day long. What I said is that you'll get called out for such a shallow and pathetic criticism. There are plenty of things to complain about in the series without having to reduce your critique to the most superficial aspect of the show.

Any evidence? Just speculating? Move on people, nothing to see here.
It is indeed speculation: the same level of speculation you're applying when you claim to know the motives of the writers.

I still want Origins to succeed; I'm pumping plenty of money into that product. Are you? If not, why are you being so selfish by not supporting something you dislike?
Why not just keep on moving to something else then?

"Don't YUCK my YUM" is a phrase meaning don't put down the thing I love for no reason.

Why try and burn something down? I am truly trying to understand why someone would put energy behind hating something when they could use that time and energy for more positive outcomes like promoting and championing something they love instead?

It is a legit question, because you keep patronizing and passive agressively shaming everyone who doesn't think MotuR is nothing but sunshine and rainbows.

I'll say that I'm happy to see MOTUR expand the diversity of its main cast from the 95.4% male-to-female character ratio of the original toyline (and for the insecure men out there, fear not: MOTUR still features far more men than women. Whew!)

Diversity is a good thing, my friend. Diversity of investments; diversity of genetics; diversity of audience. For anything to survive long-term, it helps to be adaptable because the environment (and in this case, the audience/culture) will always eventually change.

Personally, I don't mind women that are muscular or men that are thoughtful, because my ego isn't tied to rigid definitions of what it means to be masculine or feminine.

Old fans eventually grow out of things, they are nice to have but it's also important to keep bring in a new audience although that's more of the point of CGI show.

Will Masterverse and origins sales will tell us things? They are making definably +30, 000 on this retail scale. How many motu fans are there now compared to 2010? Man I wish we knew the run numbers of classics. I hear the low end of 20,000. I will be looking to see if the comics dip to vulture in My classics is complete of what I feel matters. I even got Lodar. better not drop him. I only am missing Spikor. I wish I could have got him when he was cheaper. Now one is coming out. The universe is smiling upon me my friends for such a ridiculous thing. Just got two-bad, as I know I would never be able to justify it when revelations comes out with one.

The movie which was never portrayed as a spiritual successor to the original and had constant conflicts with its director and Mattel for not enforcing He-Man's 'no-kill' policy? That one?

Y'all need to look on the bright side. At least KS didn't send He-Man to Earth so he could spend the series hanging out with teenagers and running away from an eighties cop with an authority complex.

Hey , that's Lubic your talking about. I hope he steals your newspaper tomorrow morning. He should have been the first figure in the William Stout collection.

    Better than Wonder Woman 84.
    Better than Black Widown.

    Better than The Suicide Squad.

Watching it now. Teela's comment to Gwildor "you little worm", in my head ...that's Teela alright ! They nailed her in Revelations. Evil lyn calls him a worm as well. Poor little guy. Must be Eternian slang. Interesting how when He-Man is captured he is depicted similarly to Oolar. Strong without the power sword and no harness longer wild hair , the ominous doomed wastelands and teach lying round. That's as Alacla as we will ever get in our lifetimes on film. As an Alcala fan, its nice it was captured forever.

    I completely concur!

I posted this in the 'other' forum, but every year at this time, I watch Masters of the Universe to celebrate the theatrical release!

In fact, it was released exactly a week ago today back in 1987.

Changing established characters doesn't add any depth to the story. It's sole purpose is to wave a flag.
