It depends, there are less console license games then there use to be and when popular series get games they are usually apps. Penalty of poplar game series have as movies, and vice versa. Although considering the production hell the MOTU movie has been though all of these years I doubt Revelations controversy or success has done much to effect production.

Yeah it's been a long year as far as all the upheaval over a cartoon ( Even if it's our baby or something ...) I like the attention the brand is n?getting for a change. I see alot of good mixed in with the bad. We're not in a perfect plane of existence where everything can be everything we ever wanted, who knew....

It's incredible how the dishonest group of channels called The Fandom menace has done a lot to make people believe that revelation was a flop, with very weak evidence, not evidence actually.
The only thing clear here is that they made a lot of money getting millions of views talking about Revelation and the brand is relevant.

We've yet to see an proper adaption of Larry Hama's GIJoe: A Real American Hero comic or tapping into the Sunbow GIJoe Cartoon, which were the peak of the popularity of the Joe brand. These Hollywood attempts have been someone trying to make GIJoe in their own liking, GIJoe in name only or Snake Eyes in name only. There's a huge push for 80s nostalgia in different places. GIJoe just hasn't been properly leveraged.

As for as Netflix goes, I tent to think their 'brand' loyalists are just waiting on Stranger Things to come back. That's when Netflix as a streaming service should be able to flex. This He-Man show really is just small potatoes. Stranger Things is the type of programing that can help their sub numbers.

I still haven't brought myself to watch ep5 as the Scare Glow stuff and Teela's fear, whatever it was, was muddled and confusing (for me). Maybe I'll watch episode 5 tomorrow.

Take out root beer and put in new He-Man show for the fandom. And honestly, its happening to me. I stated to like it and I know its bad writing! Just like comic book guy. Sigh, looking back on the things I read here and wrote... "I've wasted my life." The irony is like in the show We might be yelling I wanna sell root bear (Revelations) again!

Quark: I want you to try something for me. Take a sip of this. (we got a new show)
    Garak: What is it?
Quark: A human drink; it's called root beer. (Revelations)
    Garak: I dunno...
Quark: Come on. Aren't you just a little bit curious?

Garak takes a sip, wincing as he tastes it.
Quark: What do you think? (Reaction)
    Garak: It's vile!
Quark: I know. It's so bubbly, cloying...and happy.
    Garak: Just like the Federation.
Quark: And you know what's really frightening? If you drink enough of it, you begin to like it.

Definitely a fantastic set of adventures!

Not a lot of people realize that there are eleven books in the series... Burroughs was more well-known for his Tarzan tales than those of John Carter, but I've always been a sucker for the Flash Gordon, Adam Strange, and Doc Savage type characters!

There are a lot of parallels to the world of MOTU as well... spoiler alert - Carthoris, the son of John and Deja, becomes a major character in some of the books. These stories really feel like what we would have gotten with He-Ro II / Dare.

It's crazy to think just how ahead of his time E.R. Burroughs was when creating the world of John Carter... I mean, A Princess of Mars was originally published in 1912!!!

But, now I'm just nerding out...

I wish that more people saw the movie when it was released... because it really is a great adventure for young and old alike. I would have loved to see more of them made...

If anyone is interested, I highly recommend reading John Carter and the Gods of Hollywood, it's an in-depth look at what was happening during the production of the movie that caused it to go awry. It's really not what people think - and is quite sad actually.

    Sorry for the derail!!

Depends on the IP and the target audience. A reboot of Night Rider would get much more noise as a movie, since the majority of Night Rider viewers are/were people who watch television, rather than playing video games.

Masters of the Universe is an IP whose legacy is rooted in viewing, rather than gaming. As a result, a series or movie would be a lot more profitable for the brand rather than a game. As much as I hate Revelation, the MotU brand being associated with a new series did a lot of good for awareness (it remains to be seen what the aftereffect is going to be due to the series direction and choices, though).

However, a video game being released at the time the series is going? That would immediately be a lot more profitable for the brand.

Then again, Sony announcing a new blockbuster at E3 for the PS5 and revealing to be an action adventure He-Man game (with production values rivalling Horizon Forbidden West)? That could've been awesome for the brand.

    My opinion, always.

Just throwing this out there but I would think these two properties are both "newer" to our market and specifically aimed at a certain rapidly growing demographic (of which some of us happen to be a part of).

I'm not saying that's the whole reason but I think it's a part of it.

Seiya’s from the 80s and it primarily took hold with the Latin American audience. MHA though, that is valid.

And that demographic is what, anime fans? Shounen Jump readers?

Yeah, demographics that have been growing over the years. Meanwhile MOTU had it's peak and has stayed obscure of years.

That’s fair, I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. Hell, Netflix straight up called Revelation an anime because that’s the only way adults will watch cartoons that aren’t done by Fox these days.

That all being said, we remember the heyday of He-Man, and on its best day MHA isn’t that iconic. So it getting the new movie first feels rough.

Hardly surprising, considering the quality of western pop culture nowadays.

Ah, so it's fine for someone to insinuate that a part of the fandom is unwelcome and needs to be culled, but people saying that disliking Revelation is a proof of having taste if where you draw the line?

Anime fans was what I was referring to. Over the last few years I've gotten to where anime is probably 80% of what I watch.

Add to that, people like myself who are unfamiliar with Saint Seiya but would now be interested due to a new found like/love of multiple other anime.

I had stopped watching anime since my late teen years, but I find myself coming back, lately.

Liking or disliking Revelations is not proof that you have taste, it's proof that you have an opinion on something. Which I also have. I happen to like it ,you apparently dislike it to the point where if people don't see it your way ,you have to pick and fight with them.uncalled for and unnecessary which is where the fat trimming part comes in . In 10 years from now if a hypothetical movie ever makes it s way into the light of day. I'm probably still going to be here, still singing the praises of this property which I have come to enjoy over the years. The ones that are currently here to seemingly poop over every little thing that comes down the pipe line will hopefully have moved on by then. I welcome EVERYONE that comes here to MOTU party. So far from what I've read of your posts you dislike Rev, 200x, filmation to a degree , nothing in terms of NA. So why? Why are YOU here? To stir the pot and lick the spoon? Are you waiting for the "horrible in every aspect and reveal" movie. I really hope part 2 changes your tune although I doubt it. Anyways real life is calling gotta go.

No, I didn't pick a fight with anyone, have no idea where you got that from. Unless you think that calling Revelation garbage is an attack towards someone here.

Never said I disliked 200x and Filmation's 80s series, no idea where that came from either - especially the Filmation part. Unless you think that not showering it with praise equals disliking it.

I'm here because I wanted to talk about how bad Revelation was and listen to opinions from the fandom. If that poops your party and annoys you, I'm sorry. You can always ignore this thread and go to the protected one which was made especially for people who cannot handle criticism.

As for the movie, I have no expectations. If it's Netflix made, it'll probably be ****, for reasons I cannot say because I will just get myself banned again.

I don't intend on watching Rev Part 2, I'll only comment on what people will say, if I'm even here by then. I probably won't be a regular in this place, to the joy of people like you.

Enjoy real life. It has its ups and downs.

Prior to the last, I'd say maybe 5 years, I really didn't have much access to anime. Finding a few I liked also made a big difference in what other anime I might give a watch that I previously wouldn't have. Now I'm the old guy who hasn't seen a lot of the classics but am catching up, while keeping up with all the newer stuff.

Going little off-topic, but do you watch My Hero Academia? It has its faults (especially in the latter seasons), but on the whole I was amazed by the characterization and the emotions it evoked in me. Pretty awesome action sequences too.

Nope! It was actually made because any attempt to discuss the show in a positive or even neutral way was constantly being either hijacked by others who wanted to argue with whatever we said, or buried under people arguing with each other over something that was said ten pages ago. Attempts to move debate to the restricted forums were unsuccessful so they had to make ANOTHER Revelation discussion just so fans could even talk about the show at all.
