You guys sounded so exalted if not mischievous at times when interviewing
your special guest (LOL). It felt like: " Watch your word man, you got rotten tomatoes ready to get thrown on your face".
Oh and, I definitely think that the unthinkable happened to Danielle: The priestess of horror yielded and was adopted by the very hyped "Mandalorian". End of an era, so sad (^^).

Just listened to the podcast, and loved it. Nick Ferrell was great. Very good communicator, and I bet he’d have done great in PR or politics too. And I really enjoyed how he really nailed home that, in the end, they have to craft a show out of the footage they have. And boy do they craft an incredible show.

Nick is right, the MOTU guys really do come off as the grumpy old men episode, man I love Mark Taylor. The MOTU episode itself is fantastic, despite its lack of emotion and introspection.

The TMNT episode was really powerful, my favorite of all 3 seasons, despite being my 4th favorite toy IP of the series. So well done, perfect pacing, timing, humor. But ending the episode with the re-union was magic. Impeccable TV, well done. If anyone reading this has any interest in TMNT, and you haven’t watched the episode, go watch it. You won’t regret it.

    What?
How did you take that from the show?

Nick is a good guy. We were all having fun, and finding out all tons of info about what goes into making the show. Like Creedog said, he's a good communicator. Lots of good info from him!

I don't know ... It was mostly due to the way your sentences were worded and more importantly, the way your tone was used during the introductionof the topic. Is that some desperate attempt to not take responsability of your own dark side here, Val?

That was all tongue in cheek, it was all in good fun! Nothing about our conversation would lead to the dark side not with Baby Yoda guiding Penny and the rest

Everything is fine. To be completely honest, I was one of those fans who have assimilated that "Toys That Made Us" episode with some reservation. Consequently, it was driven by this fact that I used the humorous metaphor of "rotten tomatoes" according the provided answers (lol). But, the essence of my intent was indeed, conveyed with a good spirit and respect towards your guest Mr. Ferrel, this goes without saying. So sorry if I let you confused on this one guys. On that note, Merry Christmas everyone.

The two already reunited in 2015 Turtle Power-documentary. So it wasn't anything new.
But I can see why they did it to get a feel-good ending.

That's my major gripe with the series. It pretends like other, more definitive documentaries on the episode's subject don't already exist (Turtle Power, Power of Grayskull.)

With the He-Man episode, its somewhat understandable given the close proximity of the two projects. But with the TMNT episode, it was produced four years after Turtle Power, so presenting the "reunion" of Eastman and Laird as it was, smacked of inauthentic scripted reality programming.

That also plays into the language complaint. I don't care either way about so-called bad language. But the fact that all of the folks involved with the production of the show thought that the average person watching with their family would be ok with casual f-bombs means they're pretty out of touch with everyday America.

That would lead me to believe that they approach this material not out of reverence for the source or subject, but because they are "industry types" mining the pop culture milieu for documentary fodder. Hence the staged Eastman and Laird reunion and cringey comedic editing that proliferated throughout.

I could be wrong, but I don't think I'll tune in for Season Four. Have a little more respect for your audience and subject.
Most wanted Origins figures: Mighty Spector, Fisto's Cousin's Babysitter, and Mer-Man's Seventh Grade Crush.
