EMERALD CITY COMIC CON 2020 WILL BE POSTPONED

    March 6, 2020, [1:30]pm eastern-

Each year the Emerald City Comic Con team works their hardest to do right by the thousands of fans that come together in Seattle. We want to create a space for you to gather, be yourselves and make memories with those who matter to you most. We have been closely monitoring the situation around the COVID-19 virus in Seattle, and, after many hours of conversation internally and consultation with local government officials and the tourism bureau, we have decided to move next week’s Emerald City Comic Con to Summer 2020 with date and detail announcement forthcoming. We did everything that we could to run the event as planned, but ultimately, we are following the guidance of the local public health officials indicating that conventions should now be postponed.

Our hearts go out to the entire Seattle community, everyone impacted by the COVID-19 virus, and all of you, the nearly 100,000 amazing human beings who look forward to this event each year. Our team was incredibly excited to see you at Emerald City Comic Con next week, however, fans, artists, exhibitors and the rest of the community are what make Reedpop events so special and it is our duty to make sure that your safety comes first.

We know that this decision is going to greatly impact many of our individual creators, small businesses and service workers. To those whose careers depend on ECCC - we will do everything that we can over the coming days and weeks to highlight your work and we ask that our entire community support you as we realize your personal livelihoods may be impacted.

To all of our fans – you will receive a refund on your tickets, no further action is needed on your part. Due to the volume, we expect you will receive your refund in 30 days. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Reedpop remains determined and committed to running Emerald City Comic Con in 2020 and we are working closely with Visit Seattle and the Washington State Convention Center to secure alternate dates this summer. As we explore options for new dates, please know that our priority is to bring you an equally amazing event.

We appreciate all the messages that we have received over the course of the past week. The feedback was invaluable in helping us determine next steps.

Stay tuned to our website and social channels for additional information about when we will next see you in Seattle.

Someone needs to ask her if they plan to crossover with the CGI He-Man and the Masters of the Universe reboot series, especially if a Christmas Special was to ever manifest because it would make more sense for that She-Ra series to crossover with THAT He-Man series than it would with the Kevin Smith MOTU Revelations series, especially if Smith show is a "continuation" of the old Filmation series.

It would depend on what the premise is for the CGI series. We only now it will be a reboot, but as such it could take the story towards a quite different direction from that of the New She-Ra reboot, and most probably will because it is being developed by a completely different and independent creative team.

In general, I don't think it makes much sense to try to do a crossover of different MotU canons, because if canons are differentiated is precisely because they have mutual incompatibilities, and if one tries to smooth those incompatibilites out, one ends up generating what essentially is a new different canon (e.g., MotUC canon).

What would make more sense would be for Noelle and her team to be given the chance to tell us their version of the He-Man side of things, from within the New She-Ra canon (that is, to tell us their story of the First Ones, who they were and what relationship if any they had with Primus in this canon, and what that war that they were fighting was about and the aftermath of it and what became of them and of their planet Eternia thereafter, as well as the origin of Horde Prime, etc.; there's still plenty of stuff to be told there). And similarly, it would make sense for the new CGI canon not to be restricted to the He-Man side of things, but to give us their own take on She-Ra too.

However, it seems licensing issues, because of the legal separation of the He-Man and She-Ra IPs, are going to keep preventing any of that from happening. And, instead, we're going to be served one new different "half-canon" after another, each covering only some creative team's take on some half of the motuverse but not the other half, which will remain off-limits for that creative team and instead will get covered by another different creative team with their own new different "half-canon". With the end result of a myriad mutually-incompatible fragmentary new canons telling us many different half-of-the-story's, rather than one coherent new canon telling us the big MotU story in full for once.

Maybe they could take the same approach that Toei do with Super Sentai/Kamen Rider and just play very fast and lose with continuity, between the shows.

I hate that for those that were going and looking forward to this! But that now raises the question of Noelle and her She-Ra segment. We all assumed she was going to announce season 5 or some other relevant info. I wonder how they will handle that now??
