Rumor: Marvel (Disney) may possibly buy DC comics from AT&T

Has anyone else been following this? https://cosmicbook.news/marvel-taking-over-dc-comics We have a family friend who worked as Disney years ago say that he heard Disney wanted the rights to DC very badly even before the Lucasfilm buy out. The idea being they could of course make movies but have a superhero theme land where you would see Batman and Spiderman trolling the park together.. Thoughts?

I've seen this article but always take it with a grain of salt as the guy who writes these articles is often completely wrong about what he writes about. He's very much anti-Feige and not a fan of what he sees as too much *** things (diversity in films).

But there have been times where his source was spot on...

I'd tend to think your friend could easily be correct. That would be a huge thing, to own both sets and eventually see them cross over.

What's next? They gonna go after Spawn and Hellboy?

I liked Marvel Vs DC After Hours, but I don't think I'd want it to be canon. Them remaining competition is better, maybe with the occasional Almagram release.

While I think Disney would love the idea, it gets into some antitrust issues.

I agree there's nothing to this. Especially with Disney going through a CEO transition.

Cosmicbooknews is garbage. Them and We Got This Covered are two websites that should never be listened to. They lie and deceive for traffic.

I think, at most, At&T could decide to license the characters out to another publisher and cease producing the comics in-house at DC. I can't see them simply selling it off, though, as the IP is far too valuable for that. Marvel and DC comics have basically been IP farms for the conglomerates that own them for well over a decade at this point, anyway. (Even longer in the case of DC.)
