Battle Steed

Battle Steed: So this one came as a surprise to me, I always thought in The SOH He-man Era, Dare rode Battle Cat into battle, but for whatever reason, Battle Cat turned blue and grew a huge mane (like a Lion) when the artist, turns out Mattel decided to separate them into different entities. How do I know this, well i think around 2015, Mattel put out a very detailed poll to MOTUC fans asking specifically about many different characters they wanted and when the got to steeds, one of them called out was Battle Steed, never heard of it before, thought it might have been an a error but everything else in the category was spot on. I went on to ask Catra's wrath -the moderator for the Matty Collector forum if this in fact was correct and he verified it, so there you have it the birth of a new steed for the next generation Of He-man. Not sure if he has an alter ego like his bird Craven (Battle Bird) but might be fleshed out in a Masters Mondays bio some time later, i hope. Recipe: another easy one, really just using the Battle Lion switching out the saddle for a Battle cat adding a bunch of gold highlights to the armor.

Looks great!! I know in the '96 He-Ro bible they had it down that Cringer/Battle Cat was sometimes Dare's mount, but it didn't really match the illustrations, huh? I actually found this while following up on a comment you made on that poll's thread, back in 2016:

So Battle Mount is the name of Dare (He-ro II) Steed. Its changed from the idea that a maned blue tiger would pass for a future Battle Cat like in the original SOHM bible.

where you call it Battle Mount instead of Battle Steed. Both are pretty generic names so I'm not sure which is accurate--I'm inclined to think Battle Mount, since Nightstalker is called the evil battle steed sometimes? I wasn't around back in the Mattycollector days so I only know of Catra's Wrath/Stuart Taylor Cameron from secondhand accounts. Was he a Mattel employee, or just a mod for the forum who did contract work for them?

Regardless, this custom looks great. I love the contrast between the shades of blue, and the placement of the gold highlights really helps to emphasize the form. I wish we had more info about this guy in canon! I've always loved the feline mounts.

Thanks lyca yeah now I’m a bit confused myself, I’m usually pretty good about double checking my info but have def made mistakes I should double check my conversations with him a face book as I think that’s where the information lies, but yes he worked for Matty so he was a real Ike source. I think he still is active on collect-or Facebook group. I search through my conversations with him
