This is the first I’ve seen of the Trap-Jaw card art—- interesting that Ram-Man appears, I hope that’s a sign he’ll be produced for Origins.
It's kinda funny that these figures are meant for kids of this generation, but they are introducing images of characters on the cardbacks like Mer Man & Ram Man that we as vintage fans know from the get go, bit no figures have been revealed. I also think it's interesting that they are showing the older versions of Randor and Marlana from the vintage mini-comics. It seems like Mattel is trying to make the characters more of a slant directed towards the mini comics of the earlier years, but if that was the case, the they should have made Trap Jaw with the green skin, sliver arm, and weird colored fuzzy shorts.
So great!
Thanks for sharing it.

I love how Trap-Jaw is using the "hidden" zip-line feature from the vintage figure!
Also, my man Rammy! I wonder if Mattel will stick with the orange color scheme?

The art also seems to tell the story that Prince Adam is a more proactive warrior and doesn’t play the shrinking violet. I’m interested to learn more about this; it’s a lot more interesting than the whole “this looks like a job for super — Er, I mean He-Man!” thing.

I wanted to use the Skeletor art as wallpaper on my laptop, so I made a couple of quick & easy tweaks to the lighting so the lava and his red eyes would have a bit more "glow." Figured I'd share in case anyone else wants to use it.
Yeah, it does seem to be a blend of the two. Kind of makes sense, as they are the two most popular "versions" of MOTU.
When we started working on the Origins line art, we decided that the main reference to take whenever possible, would be the art from the original line, such as box art, cardbacks, minicomics, and even cross-sells. That's why the art of some cardbacks could be considered as a different approach, or even moments before or after the scenes from the original art. And why, among other details, Randor and Marlena versions are older. But if we perhaps consider those scenes as some kind of epilogue, it would mean that we could have younger versions of the kings, just like what happened on the original line.

Although some characters or items from other sources may appear, the idea is to be focused only on the sources from the original line, at least as regards everything related to the art of packaging. The starting point of the line are those few pages included in the 2-pack of Prince Adam and He-Man in which we can see the focus of this new version of Masters of the Universe.

Great artworks, nice job guys!
Nice! Scareglow is especially cool. It looks like he has translucent skin and glowing bones. Scary!!!!
I thought so then, and I still think so now: Scareglow is the best one.
Man, these are looking so great!

Wow...even a character like Clamp Champ makes it on the artwork before we even see if a figure of his is being made of him. Does it make sense to have characters on the artwork that kids don't know if they haven't been introduced in toy form yet?
YAY Clamp Champ! I think it does make sense to have new, unknown characters. It builds wonder and excitement: who is that? they look cool! I want to know more about them!
It's like the un-named vehicle drivers on the vintage boxart.
But I'm excited to have a new Clamp Champ!
"Everything comes to he who waits."
All riiight, the Champ makes his first appearance in this line! Hopefully a figure won't be too far off. He became a part of my core MOTU group as soon as I got him back in the day, and has remained so ever since. He's as crucial to me as characters like Fisto and Ram Man.
It's also cool that Scareglow is menacing Adam and the Champ, the same pair he took on in the Search for Keldor minicomic!
Scareglow looks amazing!
But, I think that there is a mistake in the Orko artwork... isn't the bucket of water supposed to be on Duncan's head??
These are fantastic, keep 'em coming!!!
