    Just got my wind raider.
Very interesting the Wind Raider box art gives us two new evil warriors - frog-man and hatchet-helm. Will we see them again?
Grayskull needs its Cardboard Spacesuit MOTUCized

Frogman has been on the Rise of Evil, Wind Raider, Battlefield Warrior and the Powercon Greyskull accessory pack.
If thats not enough for him to be confirmed for a toy, I dunno what is.
I just hope that all these new characters based on old art and concept figures are going to get standard releases and not end up being hard to get store/online/convention exclusives. I want the frog and the witch on the Lord Faker/Duplicat box

Yes to the above. Looks like Mattel are testing the waters with the rumoured "Sun Man" being a retail release coming later this year. I would love to see a "NEW" character coming in each wave.
MOTU Origins Wishlist: Oo-Larr, Karg, Lady Slither, Fang-Or, Goat-Man, Movie He-Man & Skeletor, Hawke, Slamurai, Shadow Weaver, Lodar, Snake Face, Geldor, Lord Gr'Asp, Strobo

The Eternia Guards artwork is fantastic!
Did Axel color this himself? His own coloring of his art are always my favorite.

It's too bad they gave the new Man-At-Arms head the Eternian Guard helmet rather than his own helmet, contrary to what's shown on the box art.

How about that medieval guard though! First appearance in official art/media since almost 40 years ago? We better be getting that figure. I love that those guards can co-exist along the main Filmation style ones. Perhaps they're more of an elite corps, specifically for the close protection of the royal family?

Also, Mattel is clearly buttering us up for more easy, cheap repaints with that box art. They're clearly (pun intended) going to give us Crystal Man-At-Arms at some point (totally stealing Super7's idea). And when they get around to Randor and Marlena, they'll be able to justify these "old" versions

I think it’s the same head, they just added a mask to it for the guard.
Reuse… I didn’t even notice the helmet thing lol nail you said it! I guess it works well enough then…

He does have that nice red jewel on his belt, and blue armbands. Bit of an upgrade which looks nice.

Is there another thread that carries on where this one left off, with later art?

For Origins line. Axel does the lineart. And all colors for figures and vehicles have been by Francisco Etchart. (I don't think Axel has colored himself any for these)

Some exceptions include Castle Grayskull boxart, colors by Nate "Baena" Baertsch.

    Cool, thank you!
I definitely see a bit of an evolution. It was a bit muddier at first, and has gotten brighter, more brilliant. I think I love the guard cardback also because there is white in it. Gives the eye some rest, and contrast :-)
It just such a fun scene, and dynamic. Really brings you into this world.

Some artworks still print a bit heavy here and there though. Mattel needs better pre-press preparation!

Axel posted part of the card art for Camo Khan on IG. There is so much to unpack in that image! I’m not going to post it since it’s his and Fetch’s art but, hopefully he’ll pop in and post it here. Check it out on his Instagram.

Wow. I hope that's a sign of the figures we may see as part of the Rise of the Snake Men portion of the line.

Kind of awesome that they have LL Skeletor shoehorned in there!

I'm surprised that nobody is discussing all the latest characters that have appeared in Origins artwork revealed at SDCC given how it often indicates which figures are coming...

    Laser Light Skeletor
    He-Ro
    Eldor
    Sharella
    Sssqueeze
    Snake Face
    Terroar
    Lord Gr'Asp
    Horde Snake Troopers
    Extendar
    Tytus

Really hoping this means Moss Man, Powers of Grayskull and unproduced full parts reuse 1988 Wave are coming to Origins.

Art work for exclusives doesn't seem to be a good indicator of upcoming figures. Otherwise we should have gotten more POP figures.

    Yeah, minicomics aren't great indicators

    BUT

We already know that King Grayskull is coming.

Doing Powers of Grayskull next to/after Snake Men is a logical step.

Why would they put Laser Power He-Man and Laser Light Skeletor if they weren't planning them? Why not defaults. This feels like using a white Sorceress for She-Ra comic to promote her toy.

Happy to see those on the packing, hopefully we see them released next year!

Personally I don’t mind if they make the POG figures and dinosaurs but I don't care for the time travel flash back story idea. The more of a mystery the past is the better.

As for the inclusion of the Laser Power He-Man and Laser Light Skeletor maybe we are getting them but then, as I said before where are all the POP characters from the She-Ra art?

Yeah but the inclusion of POP characters made sense, like the inclusion of Marlena. Meanwhile, there is no specific reason for Laser variants of He-Man and Skeletor.

As for POG, all we'll likely get are some fights between old heroes and Snakes, I doubt there would be many major lore reveals. Idea that there were past He-Men is already raised with Wun-Dar minicomic so there is no going back on that.

Are they not expected given that Mattel (seemingly) want to provide a he-man and a skeletor in every wave, even if a deluxe (which is presumably what LL/LP versions would be)?

Yes? That is literally what we're discussing - the possibility that characters in comics will end up with figures. I said that Bow was here because he fit the story, LL Skeletor was likely here to hype up toy.
