From what I remember Scott saying about Lizard Man at the time was that, yes, he was intended to be a smaller buck. I think 200x Adam and NA Adam were both planned on being built on that base body given the chance, unfortunately Lizard Man came far too late in the line to get much use even if the line had gone on a couple of more years.

I doubt these will look anything like MOTUC (what with the 30 p.o.a. and based on the Revelations show), but that doesn't mean you can't display them together! Imagination!!

I am pretty excited based on the silhouettes... they all look very unique.

That's just the first wave of these. Like others, I get the feeling we'll be seeing all eras (or at least a lot of different ones) in this line, so there'll be a bunch of different silhouette types. Like the DC Multiverse, especially the one from McFarlane Toys.
Wanted in MOTUC: 1) Masks of Power Demons 2) Mini-Comics Tri-Klops 3) Hoove 4) Vintage Attack Trak 5) Leech (Club Grayskull)

You're missing the point kinda intentionally.
A missing Ram Man in CG and missing Sagitar in NA within a collection or subcollection is different than buying yet again another standard He-Man, standard MAA, standard Skeletor in different lines.

Nope, they don't swap and match as easily as you insinuating and we all know well that even the basic head ball joints are different and don't make me start talking about difference in paintworks to match.
Not every MOTU fans is into it because of customising.

And please don't forget the MOC collector too.

Again, don't forget the MOC collector.
Personally I always wanted the official release of the figures not custom.
If Super7 found a way with making the figures for 87 movie versions, I want to believe and can believe that they can do this to Eatock Faker too.

Have you seen the interest of the custom Attak Trak in one of the threads here? Who wouldn't want an official release of that?

Filmation Zodac with CHAIR in an official CG release will trump all online models that you've seen and I bet not only 4 people will buy it.

Maybe Masterverse will do those, maybe not. But the issue is really about will it aesthetically blends well and seamlessly go with Classics figures.

I am not the one who said Classics fans is now happy because of Masterverse, because that statement kinda is jumping to conclusion.

Kinda funny now that a retail line and adult collector line can now be done side by side. What was the reason again why Classics line was put in hiatus?

I'm interested in seeing the full reveal of this line.

I love MOTUC, and while I still want some Club Grayskull and MOTUC figures (Still waiting a a proper 200x Evil Lyn and Filmation Leech, Ram Man, Whiplash), I'm not too disappointed in no more classics.

I'd prefer Classics over Origins, but quite frankly I'm not interested in most of the Z-listers I see pop up on want lists here.

So, I can't say how much more Classics I would have realistically bought.

    -----

I prefer new and innovative MOTU lines. That's why 200x was so awesome at the time. It was mostly classic designs, but what if we didn't cheap out on sculpting.

I still can't believe how accepting fans are of the constant cheap reuse of parts simply because "It was like that in the vintage line".

So if Masterverse has decent designs and decent articulation, it could very well be the new motu line to replace Classics.

The brand has to move forward to stay relevant and capture new fans.

No one here wanted to stop MOTU moving forward, Origins and Masterverse and all the Minis and Mega Construx are swell and exciting and nice and all. MOTU fans want those to succeed.

The issue of Classics fans is that the line they invested upon with money and time and all is forgotten and set aside withoit finishing even some important characters. Give CG a wave or 2more, give NA a few more figures more, and those fans will be at least more satisfied.

I've seen a lot fans on here push back against any innovation or deviation from the vintage line.

200x was routinely maligned for its different art style even though 85% of the figures were faithful to the classic designs.

We'll have to agree to disagree and leave it at that.

Outside of Miro and one or two others Classics nailed about every character you could want. I'd take a few more NA figures, but they're not important.

CG does need at least two more waves (Whiplash, Webstor, Kobra Khan, Leech, Moss Man, MekaNeck to name a few), however it was a separate line from MOTUC and was cut short by Mattel.

The issue with Classics was Mattel pushed it into the garbage, Super 7 saved the line, then Mattel decided to take it back when it was convenient (They had every legal right to) and then cancel what Super 7 had going on the side which was a slap in the face to the fans who stuck with the property.

    Makes what "less goofy/fun" exactly?

    These online conversations?

I'm getting more & more lost on the "jokey" aspect of this conversation the more I read your posts

    By what measure?

I assume you're using the new She-Ra cartoon as a reference point for this 3 decade old character?

    - - - Updated - - -

Your more articulated way of expressing this is sincerely appreciated. I think it's a win/win/win going this direction.

That said: I would love if the MOTU/He-Man brand exceeds expectations in 2021... I mean, it's a real "make or break" time for the franchise, and will determine the level we as fans will benefit from onward....

...if it's lackluster, some of us might not enjoy seeing a decent resurgence til we are at the age to have our granchildren playing with the dang toys!
From the Vintage figure that is not big and muscular.
Idk what you're so mad about. Having a bad day? Looking at redirecting? Don't get when people say "In for" and have it understood as goofing around? WE are super serious about toys all the time? I mean, I guess that's the forum i'm in tbf, a pretty notorious place for such a thing. but lol man, pull out your vintage Bow figure
Lizard Man was supposed to be the smaller buck yes, these things were discussed here and other places fairly often
I mean yeesh, better just avoid this thread so you can do your thing, have fun brother

How could Lizardman be a smaller buck? Heís very purpose-built to be Lizardman and nothing else. Are we talking about the mechanism inside? The torso? Or was he originally planned on being executed completely differently?

The ship sailed years ago but my interest has been piqued.
Please check out my custom figures. The first few stink but I get better.

That is the point, that is my big question as of now, which I don't expect to be officially answered. Clearly we have 2 trends of tastes and collecting habits here:
    1) Those that want to move forward with new engineering and style but same core A-list characters
    2) Those that want to move forward with new/obscure characters (even if they're, as they call them, Z-listers) but same Classics style

Well, each of the factions above seem to think the other way is a waste of time and one should exclude the other. Yes, we will have to agree to disagree (borrowing from what Thrawn just said).

Actually, seems there's a minority, but while I understand that Mattel will produce what seems to be more profitable (and again, I have interest in Masterverse but not as a reboot of my collection, just as one more source of cool stuff that can coexists with Classics, Thundercats, Mythic Legions and whatever I want to mix in), what I don't understand is why not allow that minority to be targeted by another company specialized in small audiences, niche stuff, retro styles.

So, "What was the reason again why Classics line was put in hiatus?"...
Wish list of MOTUC figures: Sagitar, Red Beast, Hans Hammerholder, Ra-Jar

After the fuss weíve thrown about killing Classics for Origins, these guys would have to be pretty dense not to have the new collector line mesh with Classics.

It seems this first wave is all Revelations based with an updated buck, but I would expect future waves could do some Club Grayskull, Hunga, Miro, etc.

Much like DC Multiverse dusting off the DC Universe Classics buck for Super Friends figures and even using MOTUC bodies for some figures, I would hope they can do the same for Masterverse.

With Mattel losing the DC license, it seems Masterverse is their replacement.

Iím in the minority here but I wasnít a classics fan, too static, so these will probably be a dream comes true for me. I loved 200x because of the imaginative direction the Horsemen took. These to be in the same vain but with 30+ points of articulation. Bring on 2021.
This is me wishing Mattel didn't hate me.

I'll reserve judgement on Masterverse until we see more.

What I don't want to see is Motu becoming like Transformers and reinventing the wheel every 6-8 months. There's Battle for Cybertron, Assault on Cybertron, War for Cybertron, Seige of Cybertron, Invasion of Cybertron, Skirmish on Cybertron, Bickering on Cybertron, Squabble on Cybertron....and there has to be an Optimus Prime and Megatron for each and every one. Sure, each line will have a few cool new toys in it, but the figures only truly match with other figures within one or two lines of each other.

I'll be honest, I'm very leary about where this "Masterverse" business is going. I'm not interested in buying every conceivable version of He-Man and Skeletor at 7 inches. And while I would have liked to have a Classics version of Hunga and Micah, I'm not interested in Hunga-envisioned-as-a-200x-character and Micah-envisioned-as-an-'87-movie-character. I'm not saying that such figures wouldn't be cool in their own right; I'm just not interested in trying to cultivate such a disparate collection of characters and styles.

This Masterverse line could very well turn out to be the Anti-Eternia version of Classics.

the thing is mattel is betting the farm on he-man & this first wave is based on that new cartoon. if it's a flop for any reason, nobody is going to buy masterverse except for completists. besides we've seen that voice cast picture, there are at least 21 revelations characters before they would even think about other sources in masterverse
PoP Figures have to be based on the Vintage toys! This is NOT Filmation's Masters Of The Universe Classics MySpace Custom Blog

Seeing as how it's a Masterverse, I wouldn't be surprised to see figures based on both Netflix shows popping up... and, if it ever gets made (big if), the new movie could be a part of the Masterverse as well...

I just pray that these have much better design-choices than the McFarlane crap that has overtaken DC... ugh, those are some fugly figures.

Yeah, Alan Oppenheimer is voicing Moss Man- so chances are that wasn't a coincidence that they chose to show him on the Revelation packaging.
That said, I would love to see Man-E-Faces make an appearance on this new show... if anyone can do a better job visualizing/explaining what his powers actually are and do, it's the Powerhouse Animation team. I felt like it was a bit of a fail in Filmation, and MYP didn't go far enough... I want to see some actual shape shifting, face-changing powers for Man-E! Fingers crossed he shows up (and then in the toyline, too).

They're getting better at least. Arkham Batman and Joker (although I wish they'd gone for an open mouth or included an alternate sick head because I'm not rebuying this figure in a year when they inevitably release an Arkham City version) are really good. Also, that vehicle looks good, and I hope we get an Arkham Knight Batmobile someday.

Although, the Wonder Woman figures are awful (the head on Armored Wonder Woman looks nothing like Gal Godot, and the ankles on regular Wonder Woman are weirdly flesh colored. I don't understand why they aren't red. I'm a big Wonder Woman fan, and I ended up skipping these two because of how bad they are.

Also, from pics I've seen Nightwing looks really great, although I never saw him in stores.
