I like that they "updated" Vykron's looks. The originals were pretty lame, especially the tank version...

Vykron looks so good, they really knocked it out of the park. The Spaceman and Tank Top, all look MOTU-esque now, which is great. I think the Spaceman is my favourite, I love the Grayskull space armor and Zodac influences in the design.
MOTU Origins Wishlist: Oo-Larr, Karg, Lady Slither, Fang-Or, Goat-Man, Movie He-Man & Skeletor, Hawke, Slamurai, Shadow Weaver, Lodar, Snake Face, Geldor, Lord Gr'Asp, Strobo

Looks really great, but I hope they attached the fur properly to the armor… still sad about the sliding down of King Grayskull’s furry cape and how NE Skeletor’s cape is basically not attached at all. 😑

Makes me wary of buying any textiles containing MV (which is a shame b/c I love the ideas and innovations they do with the materials!)

Run a staple through it or whatever, Mattel! 😤
    (Sorry customizers). These aren’t statues.

Rant over– beautiful figure(s) otherwise, great set! 😅

I agree, but the originals were intended to be just prototypes. The wrong design decision in Classics was to translate the exact same designs from the prototypes (which were made in a hurry just to show the potential of a hypothetical toy line) to final product, IMO.
Wish list of Masterverse figures: Sagitar, Hans Hammerholder, Red Beast, Rattlor, Skeleteen, Zeelahr, Tug-O-War, Supreme Arbitor

I think I may be the only one who actually liked Classics Vykron. I thought it was a cool idea, I enjoyed the execution, and he is currently in his tank outfit on top of my Classics display (which reminds me, I need to swap his parts out.) I'll try to get this version, as I like the update.

Oh, I definitely still love the Classics version (with the exception of the Space Ace suit), I just think Masterverse is a major improvement.

Hmmmm, I got Classics Vykron, and within my collection he has the status of one of the He-Men (I didn't adopt that canon about him being just a gladiator, for me the figure is THE He-man from the Age of Sorrow). I highly appreciate the figure because of his paramount importance back in the days when Mattel was deciding on what their next toy line for boys would be, thanks to this character MOTU was born. Having said that, the design isn't on par of other Classics designs, so MV version is an improvement... design-wise. Unfortunately I will have to pass, because I'm short of funds to continue collecting for the rest of the year, at least (unless they release Sagitar, in which case I might consider selling my soul or an organ ). So, my old Classics Vykron will still be the king!

It's kind of a shame that the creatives at Mattel are approaching the Masterverse with so much likelihood, production-wise, imho.
I mean, except for He-Man and Skeletor, which have been granted new variations here and there. Those references aside,
we're barely at 25 unique characters to date.

So basically, in terms of exploitation, could the consensus be to essentially go after the heavy hitters ? While stepping over more exciting offerings : ( b/c listed characters, mounts, vehicles, playsets and so on ...) ?

If you crossed the Space and Military costumes from Masterverse with the Classics buck, I think that'd be perfect.

I think I'm going to pass on Vykron. He's a cool looking figure and all, but I've found that the only figures I've bought that I really enjoy are the classic characters that were in the original line, with a few exceptions. I like He-Ro and Grayskull, and even Sunman is not bad. But variants of the same characters are too much. Now, if its an improvement, then I'll get them... like the new Mer-Man is much better than the Revelation, so I got him. But most of them just aren't exciting me too much.

I *think* they even announced it as such, or at least here on the forum sone people read into Mattel that this will be the case.
However, personally I feel we’ve actually gotten quite a lot of characters, considering the line hasn’t been running that long 😊
It’s just that we get a lot of He-Men / other core characters variations WITH it.
We’ve gotten a lot of exciting characters this year. Remains to be seen how it continues, though… now that a lot of the biggies of Evil and Heroic Warriors are covered.

I’m confident we will get a few obscure and surprising characters sprinkled in.
But I don’t think they’re suddenly start ONLY doing obscure Mini comics and Filmation characters, I don’t think they see that selling very well at retail.
    Maybe at Mattel Creations!

Edit: I realize you asked rather about vehicles and such– yeah I don’t think we’ll see a lot of that, sadly…) 😢

Right now we're not even getting Panthor and it's not like he needs a lot of new tooling from Battle Cat...

I can't be the only one who can peer into the multiverse and envision the reams of Toyguru hate that would have been written if they changed the Roger Sweet designs...

Now that I see this comment I have to admit you're ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, changing the original design would have been one of those debacles. I had forgotten that aspect of the Classics era

Don't love the box but I do love the artwork on it. I'm not sure how many I'm going to try to get. I'd like to get 3 but do I really need 3??? Argh.

Since the 3 looks have been established as separate characters in some canon, and given the good design of this version of Vykron, it might make sense to buy 3 for display purposes. Of course, that's for the collectors that actually display the figures properly out of the box, or for dioramas, etc. I suppose the 3 of them together look awesome (as we could see in the pictures). But well, of course that comes with a cost, which might not be justified for some of us.

you could totally use this for Making Jetpack, look at the similarities. Guess hasbro finally had enough of the helmet looks too much like the Mandalorian.

    Buy one.

Buy 2 He-Mans and use them. It's the most standard buck and the face isn't visible anyway, save yourself the trouble.

I was thinking that too... the boot and belt colors would be wrong, but I'd save $60-70 and would I really even notice?

That would be Disney's problem, not Hasbro's.

I’m really happy for the MV collectors out there.

They aren’t for me , I’m sticking with Classics as I personally prefer their aesthetic. But the MV figures are definitely improving. I thought the first few waves were terrible but some of this later stuff looks pretty good.

I'm Classics all the way, but since there are no Classics currently, I am enjoying Masterverse.

The Faker, Grizzlor, Buzz-Off, Mer-man wave is amazing. Best wave in the line so far. They are also constructed better. They can spin at the chest 360! Plastic seems better, too.

Now, I wish they could just tighten up the paint apps... (and lose the terrible double-jointed arms and knees). Maybe a new buck to mix it up, too. Somewhere between the current buck and the 40th Anniversary He-man buck. And without sounding weird... add some nipples! LOL!
