    Masterverse Toyline Discussion Thread

    Updated May 13, 2021:

Collider has posted great images of the new Masterverse toys.
Click here to read the original article,
and check out info from Collider below:

"This year, the Masters of the Universe are returning — and not just in animated form via a new series at Netflix, as has been previously reported. Now, lifelong fans, as well as new ones, can enjoy these much-beloved characters via the launch of the official Masterverse collection, which will consist of six figures upon initial release on June 15 with additional characters to be introduced to the line later in the fall.

Figures feature at least 30 points of articulation for extreme pose-ability and come equipped with each character’s unique accessories. He-Man's figure will have both power sword and shield, while Battle Cat will debut with his trademark armor as well as his helmet. The first line of releases will include 7" figures of He-Man, Skeletor, Moss Man and Evil-Lyn, a 9" figure of Skelegod and a 14" long figure of Battle Cat (with detachable armor that reveals the character's alter ego of Cringer)."

I hope this makes all the Classics fans happy. A return to the 7 inch collector line is cool.

Sounds cool, can’t wait to hear more.

But unless it’s a direct continuation of Classics, which means styling and sculpting which fits in seamlessly, and provides characters we don’t already have, then no, it won’t necessarily make Classics fans happy.

MOTU Masterverse: New 7 inch line from Mattel in 2021

I've seen silhouettes of the new 7 inch figures which look to be based on new Kevin Smith series designs.

It looks like 7 inch collectors can expect new MOTU figures on a new set of bucks in 2021.

    So... Not compatible with Classics?
"I wouldn't be surprised if this movie has Adam as a skinny nerd from Earth battling another skinny nerd-hacker from Earth that used an alias of Keldor. They then enter Tron-style to a cyber world called Eternia, where they control muscle-bound avatars to battle (called He-Man and Skeletor). And these same avatars come to life and continue to battle in present-day Earth." - VZX

I am hoping these are like Mattel's DC Multiverse line. DC characters from all different mediums.

This would be the same with Filmation/Club Grayskull figures, Revelations figures, Classics figures, etc.

They REALLY need to make the heads compatible with Classics.

Sweet Zombie He-Man, you guys are fast with the news!

I can't wait until we get to see a "Comparison Time" comparing a Masterverse figure to a Classics figure.

I think expecting a new line with a new name to not provide characters we already have will be foolish and I hope people are able to tune their expectations accordingly.

I expect this to be quite different from Classics, more like Marvel Legends in articulation style.

Absolutely. You can tell by the silhouettes that this is not a Classics continuation in any way, it’s something entirely new, and just because it’s 7 inch scale people shouldn’t be assuming it’s related to Classics.

Sure it's not a direct continuation of Classics, but it's a 7 inch line with updated articulation and I'm super excited about it!

30 points of articulation seems like too much... how many does a classics figure have technically?

If I remember correctly, the average one has nineteen or twenty.

This will probably add double jointed elbows and knees, two ab crunches, wrist hinges, and toe joints if I had to guess.

I kind of feel like Masterverse will be the final nail in the coffin for Classics

Hopefully they will use this line to fill in holes in Classics and Filmation style figures in addition to the Revelations designs. Even if those obscure characters are only offered online or as exclusives.

Amen. And I don’t understand how getting characters like Miro, Lady Slither, Kothos, Hunga, the remaining New Adventures figures, do any kind of competition with yet another version of He-Man, Teela, Man-At-Arms, etc

Really crossing my fingers that with all the talks of multiverse, that the Masterverse dips into Classics to help give us figures that we're still waiting for. I'd love to be able to buy MOTUC figures for $20 again.
Proud supporter of the Snake Men.

Most Wanted: Slave Girl, Lizorr, T-Rex, Great Black Wizard, rest of New Adventures, MOP Demons, Dream Mistress.
Most Wanted Filmation: Ileena, Twiggets, Dragoon, Widgets, Dark Dream, Lady Valtira, Count Marzo, Chimera.

No Slave Girl? Watch us hurl!

A barbaric world without slave girls? That's truly barbaric!

Agreed 100%! I've grown tired buying the same core characters time and time again. Some of us still want something fresh and different. Add in updated vintage vehicles, playsets, and accessory packs please!!!!!

I'm excited . It seems exactly like what they were doing with DC. Im hoping for butterfly joints. Within this, it seemed to me like they were hunting that they might be able to finish the classics line. Maybe not in the same package, but if it gets me a proper NA battle blade skeletor...

While the figures may not be compatible the team did say that there were things that could be shared between them, I'm guessing weapons, armor and accessories but it could also mean vehicles. As for the silhouettes, they looked to be from animation sheets not toy designs so the bucks could look like Classics while having more articulation and the styling of Revelations. As for character choice, it's going to be a mass-retail line, it will have to start with a basic He-Man, a basic Skeletor, a basic Beast Man, etc.

It isn't competition. It's the fact that literally nobody outside of a small group of a thousand, probably less want those. I'm a pretty big fan, and I have no clue who Kothos is, and like, Lady Slither is a new character from a minicomic that came late in MOTUC's lifespan.

The market for figures based on the upcoming Netflix show is so much bigger because it like actually exists.

If this line makes it far enough, I wouldn't be surprised if we get King Miro, some NA figures, and Hungra, but like, Classics hit the bottom of the barrel a long time ago, the remaining characters are a whole floor below the barrel.

From what I gathered, these will be somewhat of a "multiverse" line, with the first being in the Revelations style, and they will go alongside Classics.

They didn't say this, and it's pure speculation on my part, but I would guess that each "wave" will be from a different cannon.
