    Masterverse Toyline Discussion Thread

    Updated May 13, 2021:

Collider has posted great images of the new Masterverse toys.
Click here to read the original article,
and check out info from Collider below:

"This year, the Masters of the Universe are returning — and not just in animated form via a new series at Netflix, as has been previously reported. Now, lifelong fans, as well as new ones, can enjoy these much-beloved characters via the launch of the official Masterverse collection, which will consist of six figures upon initial release on June 15 with additional characters to be introduced to the line later in the fall.

Figures feature at least 30 points of articulation for extreme pose-ability and come equipped with each character’s unique accessories. He-Man's figure will have both power sword and shield, while Battle Cat will debut with his trademark armor as well as his helmet. The first line of releases will include 7" figures of He-Man, Skeletor, Moss Man and Evil-Lyn, a 9" figure of Skelegod and a 14" long figure of Battle Cat (with detachable armor that reveals the character's alter ego of Cringer)."

Check out this teaser image of the toys for the yet-to-be-revealed MOTU Masterverse action figure line!

I hope this makes all the Classics fans happy. A return to the 7 inch collector line is cool.

Sounds cool, can’t wait to hear more.

But unless it’s a direct continuation of Classics, which means styling and sculpting which fits in seamlessly, and provides characters we don’t already have, then no, it won’t necessarily make Classics fans happy.

I think expecting a new line with a new name to not provide characters we already have will be foolish and I hope people are able to tune their expectations accordingly.

I expect this to be quite different from Classics, more like Marvel Legends in articulation style.

Absolutely. You can tell by the silhouettes that this is not a Classics continuation in any way, it’s something entirely new, and just because it’s 7 inch scale people shouldn’t be assuming it’s related to Classics.

Sure it's not a direct continuation of Classics, but it's a 7 inch line with updated articulation and I'm super excited about it!

While the figures may not be compatible the team did say that there were things that could be shared between them, I'm guessing weapons, armor and accessories but it could also mean vehicles. As for the silhouettes, they looked to be from animation sheets not toy designs so the bucks could look like Classics while having more articulation and the styling of Revelations. As for character choice, it's going to be a mass-retail line, it will have to start with a basic He-Man, a basic Skeletor, a basic Beast Man, etc.

As much as the news is nice and about a 7inches line, you are right, it will not make Classics fans happy. MOC collector more so. There is something special in a MOTUC buck that makes everything seamless. It only needs some proportionality difference and it simply won't mesh well.

The only thing I can be glad with the news is that unmade vehicles and playsets and beast might be used for Classics (hope aesthetically it mesh well).

I'm happy for those who are happy with the news.

On a personal note, I just felt that I was left by the MOTU bus as they off to a big party and grand endeavours. Well I still have some characters to hunt from the past so I guess that where my energy and funds will go.

MOTU Masterverse: New 7 inch line from Mattel in 2021

I've seen silhouettes of the new 7 inch figures which look to be based on new Kevin Smith series designs.

It looks like 7 inch collectors can expect new MOTU figures on a new set of bucks in 2021.

    So... Not compatible with Classics?
"I wouldn't be surprised if this movie has Adam as a skinny nerd from Earth battling another skinny nerd-hacker from Earth that used an alias of Keldor. They then enter Tron-style to a cyber world called Eternia, where they control muscle-bound avatars to battle (called He-Man and Skeletor). And these same avatars come to life and continue to battle in present-day Earth." - VZX

I am hoping these are like Mattel's DC Multiverse line. DC characters from all different mediums.

This would be the same with Filmation/Club Grayskull figures, Revelations figures, Classics figures, etc.

They REALLY need to make the heads compatible with Classics.

30 points of articulation seems like too much... how many does a classics figure have technically?

Sweet Zombie He-Man, you guys are fast with the news!

I can't wait until we get to see a "Comparison Time" comparing a Masterverse figure to a Classics figure.

I kind of feel like Masterverse will be the final nail in the coffin for Classics

Hopefully they will use this line to fill in holes in Classics and Filmation style figures in addition to the Revelations designs. Even if those obscure characters are only offered online or as exclusives.

    Right? LOL!

I am blown away by this news... I really thought if Revelations had action figures associated with it, that they would be sort of pared-down, marketing to a much younger audience style of toys. I wasn't expecting them to target the adult collector in a retail line, so I am quite excited by this!
And, honestly, I think whatever these are- they'll look as fine with your Classics figures as Super7 Dolph Lundgren He-Man from the movie looks next to your Classics Teela.

Could be cool if they go beyond the core characters but still say there’s room for Super7 to continue Classics.

This could be cool, but I need to see more and know more before I get thrilled.

they kinda have to follow the style of the animation right? so maybe that's where the sculpt change is compared to classics

classics will be the only set that made all original characters. Origins will never get there especially when they start pumping out 10 different he-mans while never re-releasing the original one.
LOOKING for these MOTU Full Cardbacks:
    -Skeletor w/"original" promo on front
-Man E Faces w/ "extra weapons" promo on front
-Trap Jaw w/o Ring Promo on front & newer figures pictured on back
-Tri Klops w/o Ring Promo on front & newer figures pictured on back
& Mantisaur Empty Box (USA) Version

Regular He-Man and Skeletor are endless stock. Like, they won't discontinue them.

Hmmm I guess I didn't understand what MOTU Revelations was going to be. I thought it was going to tell a new story in the filmation universe using those character designs, but these silhouettes obviously look like redesigns; I think I see Fisto, Trap Jaw, He-Ro maybe?, a new lanky Tri-Klops, Man-at-Arms, Teela, Clawful in cargo pants?, and I'll say Zodac?

I'll need to see the actual art style before knowing how excited to be, but after hearing the creators today talk about how great the show is turning out, I'm really looking forward to seeing more. I already have a large vintage collection, and now MOTUC, but if these redesigns are cool I'll probably want them too, and this will be out at the same time as Origins.

How much MOTU is too much MOTU? I only have so much space/money.

Just before Masterverse/Revelations was introduced they clearly said Classics “remains on the back burner” for now and acknowledged that they’re listening to fans. Pixel Dan asked if doors were still open and I believe it was Josh Graham that answered “doors are open, lips are sealed”.

All indications are that Classics isn’t dead but on hiatus as Mattel has stated for months, IMHO.
