What are They calling "Limited Quantities"? 300 pcs? 500 pcs? 1000 pcs? more?

Well, I got a clear Skeletor. I was happy that it didn't turn into some frantic sprint trying to order something that slipped out of your hands at the last minute, but instead, I was able to order it with no problems. I hope if they do anything else like this, it's just as easy
I wish the patent art was the original Skeletor and not the Origins version.

Why is Mattel so insane, you guys?
My custom figure thread: https://www.he-man.org/forums/boards...he-Hadleyverse
Shocked this hasn’t sold out. Also really curious how limited, “limited” is...
Thankfully, nothing I want.
Odd Man Out
Limited might just mean they'll sell it for a limited time
If you think about it, saying it's "limited" gets people ordering it right away. I would assume it's being produced in a limited quantity. We panic and complain about scalpers, worry we won't get one, I certainly thought about it over the last few days.
However, if Mattel chose to make it available for a limited time, they could simply allow the pre-orders to pile up until they noticed a drop in sales and just say "pre-orders end on....limited quantities remaining". If they went with this model, they could sell as many as they wanted, get a specific number on what the production run needed to be without under or over estimating numbers. They would make just enough to satisfy the public without making more than they could sell and having leftovers.

The pricing on all of these are insane. Assuming they are just using the current mold for that skeletor, that is nuts to charger more then 3 times the amount for something that doesn't even need paint. I can't really justify this one, especially not with the images they've shown so far. Give me a video that shows off an actual produced figure, then maybe.
A sucker is born every day...and it's me, I'm the sucker...
EXPENSIVE TRANSLUCENT SKELETOR!😍
Adding to what manowar said above, everything is made in a "limited quantity", even stuff that's an "always there" item gets an end and refresh at some point. It's when there are published numbers on it that you can really quantify it. Are there more being made than the Power-Con She-Ra?... More than the Lords of Power set?...
Thing that gets me is I don't even think that they're using photos of an actual production sample, I think those are digital renderings in "clear". It would be really cool if the final product was in a crystal clear plastic instead of the kind of murky translucent that the Faker John Cena uses but that's what I'm afraid we'll get. "Clear" PVC in the thickness of the legs and arms isn't all that clear... Would also be nice to see what the packaging looks like ahead of time, I find it amazing that the Hot Wheels set sold out immediately at $75 without knowing if you can actually view the product while still in the package. The Barbie price is a little more understandable as it seems that they're tooling up a new head with the sculpted hair that probably isn't going to be rotocast but $50 for Skeletor and, especially, that Magic 8 Ball seems a cash grab. Also wondering why they're trying to pass-off the Origins design/articulation as 1982 product...
I want one but I just can't decide to pull the trigger...
Make a clear classics version and I am in.
Load the spaceships with the rocket fuel!!!
Hmm, put it out in translucent glow-in-the-dark green and I might bite!
So glad I'm not getting into this line. So sick of exclusives and after market shenanigans.

A Mattel Principal Designer on "Barbie Signature" put in a request to the folks running Mattel Creations to post images of Barbie's "unique packaging" and stand (not shown on the website). I asked him about Skeletor. *fingers crossed*
I think the packaging might be the only thing that could get me to drop 50 on an all white Skeletor (and no telling how safely they will pack these for the mail).
I ended up ordering 2, to open one up for a custom display using some LEDs....and hoping the packaging is unique, cool - different enough to help further justify the price point on these.
I am in way too deep to start acting like $50 is completely obscene... the Lords of Power box set, snake mountain....looking at the larger time periods its taken to have MOTU back in hand in any capacity, I am grateful we have great stuff now and upcoming. Getting these things at their kickoff vs attempting the aftermarket is the only way if there is any remote interest.
It was not too long ago we were paying 35-40+(figure/shipping) per figure for classics, and looking at what Mattel did with the AWESOME Origins SDCC set, they have my trust this is Skeletor is going to be special.
Just a heads-up that The Shining Grady Twins and It Pennywise dolls go up for pre-order in like 20 minutes. I hope there's enough stock. (Sorry, for the off-topic. I didn't want to create a whole new thread.)
