I’ve seen Madsaki’s MOTU work. I’m an artist and I’m not sure I get it. Just seems like stylized nostalgia with a coloring book feel to it. Some of Madsaki’s work is brilliant but, there are so many better artists doing MOTU themed art that I’m not sure why they chose this artist. Just my 2 cents.

From the beginning it has seemed to me that Mattel is trying to be edgy, hip and cool by picking these types of artists. It’s not my thing and honestly seems to be another misstep and waste of time and energy on their part. Maybe it’s working for them but I can’t see how. They’re offering a lot of stuff that I just can’t see the demand was there for. I hope it is. I’d like to sit in the room when these decisions are being made.

Of course all that said, I can appreciate them trying something different. You create value by being different, not being the same as everyone else. I just wish they’d call me first, lol.

I looked at his gallery, the quality looks like something a 4th grade would have done. Not my cup of tea. I like art to have detail like SiMo Sol's MOTU paintings.

I will definitely give them a little leeway as they get their feet wet. I do appreciate the idea of Mattel Creations and any company trying something different- it keeps the alive. We’ll see how this goes. I obviously won’t like everything but, as long as they sell out of the offerings, I have hope there will be something I like as they move forward.

I kinda wanted the Clear Skeletor But, without any packaging or product pics, it was hard to press the button. I only do that with Star Wars (don’t hate me for my blasphemy )

I just looked at SIMo Sol’s work. Simply amazing! Wouldn’t mind having one of those prints.

Different style of work but, there’s an artist I’ve been following on Instagram named Pete Carroll (@artofcarroll I think) that has been doing portraits of MOTU Evil characters. I’m hoping he sells prints soon.

I would assume they would send out an email when it is supposed to become available. It turns out that the 12 a.m. drop was for the Monster High dolls again.

I have to say, the stuff they're putting out feels like minimal effort type of junk that I'm not sure who the audience is supposed to be for it. I'm not sure I "get" what they're going for with all of this.

Really wish they would of said how they are packaging this. Carded? Regular flimsy garbage origin style? Special? Black and silver would look awesome with vintage style card.
