"Willow" Sequel TV Series In The Works

I like the original movie a lot, but the trailers and reviews made it sound like it would be something I wouldn't like so I never got around to watching it. It seems modernizing it for what they view as today's younger audience didn't work ratings wise.

Nah it was just bad writing. There was out of place music, Willow came across as weak and unimportant and the finale wasn't really even a climax. Plus Disney is wanting to cut costs with Disney+ to get it out of the red. The fact that the show was cancelled isn't surprising.

Geez "vertically challenged"?? That would be the highly beloved actor Warwick Davis in toy form. Never really heard anyone make an effort to point out his height given how loved the guy is.

Sadly, the Willow series has now been cancelled after one season. This is a shame as I really loved it.

So Disney canceled the series. I never watched it but it seems a lot of people didn't like it.

I loved it, I wish it had been given a chance.

I would like to be able to say that you're missing out... but, sadly you are not.

I had such high hopes for the series, but my expectations were a little too high I think. The series isn't bad, per se, but it just feels so flat and unrelated to the original movie.

Flat is a good way to describe it. The episode I watched did not have the adventurous spirit of the film.

Whatever this series offered, it obviously wasn't that.

Yes I believe little person is the proper terminology. And I think your experience speaks for them as a whole, their size is never a factor.

I would agree with others on saying the show was "flat". There were no true peaks or valleys. However, it seems according to the show runner the series isn't really cancelled. It sounds like "paused" would be a better term. If they listened to criticism I'd be willing to give them a second chance.

Yes I believe little person is the proper terminology.

Some prefer "little person," and others prefer "Dwarf." There is no consensus among that community, so it depends on the individual. Like with anything, if you are not sure, then it does not hurt to ask. I think most people would rather you ask, then assume incorrectly.

The term "little people" was coined by Little People of America, which was formed as a union for actors with Dwarfism. So people in show business are more inclined to prefer "little person." Many people outside of show business however, view "little person" as diminuitive and infantilizing, and prefer "dwarf." So it really depends on the individual.

Those who favor "little person" argue that "dwarf" reduces an individual to a medical condition, whereas "little person" is simply descriptive, e.g. short person, tall person, little person, big person, etc. It is the difference between identifying someone as a diabetic in a non-medical context and describing his appearance.

People want to do the right thing, and want simple, unambiguous guidelines, so they do not make mistakes. But there are good perspectives on both sides, so there is not a consensus answer. The best thing to do if you are uncertain is ask. Individuals will tell you the respectful way to refer to them.

I haven't seen the show, but this is one of the biggest problems with all these reboots/relaunches/continuations. It is really hard to balance what the audience wants nostalgia wise with telling a modern and different story. I don't envy them for having to make these decisions.

I don't think it being in the name of a wrestling league makes it a legitimate term and neither does the involvement of little people, especially when a paycheck is involved. People will sell their souls for a payday.

My buddy Dan (aka Short-Sleeve Sampson) gets incredibly aggravated whenever anyone refers to him as a "little person". He is quick to loudly correct anyone who calls him that by saying, "I'm a f***ing m*****, bro!" His catchphrase is "It's M***** Time!" and he co-runs the M***** Wrestling Warriors organization.

I assure you, he is not coerced into this, this is how he identifies. Likewise, he understands why others would not like being called that; he, personally, finds "little person" more demeaning, and wants people to refer to him by the other word. People who would take offense to the term are welcome to not wrestle on the shows that he books, if they take issue with the league's name, but apparently it's one of those issues that people outside of the demographic spend a lot more time worrying about than They themselves do. Their league does fine, he's always working somewhere and they do decent business, "questionable" group name notwithstanding. He's been running it and doing well for over a decade, so either they don't get a ton of complaints about the name OR Dan's just a really obstinate guy. Or both.

I'm of the opinion that you just call people what they ask to be called. No group of people are a hivemind and thus there's no concrete consensus on how best to "represent" them. Dan is not the only "little person" I know who prefers to be called by the more "offensive" term, they're kind of all over the place with it. When in doubt, just ask and comply, while understanding that what This Person likes to be called may not be true for the next person, so be prepared to adjust accordingly.

I personally will continue to call Dan whatever he likes because I am very sure he could beat me up.

Anecdotal, but Every Single Hispanic Person whom I personally deal with offline cannot stand the term "Latinx". Like even just seeing it written sets them off on a rant.
