LoP Mer-Man at BBTS?

Anyone noticed the listing of "Lords of Power" Mer-Man on BBTS?

Maybe people involved with PowerCon have an idea what´s going on here. Is this an error or will Mattel release an exclusive figure at retail again?

I bought the exclusive Power-Con set, but honestly, if they released it as a single (maybe with a lighter blue) I wouldn't grumble. I'd buy multiples!

I'm thinking that they will release all 5 of the LoP figures single carded, but with perhaps simplified paint apps to differentiate.

That said, I have zero idea why Mattel would just release one at a time.

I think that releasing the LoP versions in single-carded format is a great idea.

Imagine the money people can save by not buying the multi-pack. (Which I love, but have always thought it way overpriced...)

Also, nice PSA video He-Bro, I cannot believe that these, puddle-of-phlegm resellers have the nerve to charge $60.00 for a $15 mass-market Walmart toy.

These figures should be available for every boy and girl who wants one - AT THE MSRP!!!

I have the 5pk, and Im cool with them as carded versions. More product, the better.

I'd say it's the LOP version, but blue. I don't see them releasing these single carded... then again we've seen crazier things from Mattel.

I hope they all get released at retail with limited paint apps. A blue LOP Mer-Man would be amazing.

Whether he'll be the same or not, it's weird seeing so many butthurt comments online about a single-carded release.

Eh, admittedly, if I knew the LoP figures were eventually going to be released on single cards at retail prices, I never would have spent as much money as I did on the Power-Con five pack. Getting that version of Mer-Man and Man-At-Arms (and She-Ra too, actually now that I think about it) were the reasons I bought the exclusives. I know the retail She-Ra doesn't have rooted hair and is missing the axe, but... the differences aren't that extreme, IMO. Whereas I feel like LoP Mer-Man & Man-At-Arms were drastic improvements over the "regular versions".
Next time around, I'm less likely to buy the Power-Con exclusives and just wait to see if the characters turn up in stores with minor tweaks instead.

A LOP Beastman release was also rumoured at one stage. That "leaked" list of upcoming Origins figures from last year seems to be panning out. It was the first place we heard of Deluxe Hordak and Mosquitor figures. Although Moss-Man was also on that list. But LOP Mer-Man and Beastman were there, too.

I didn't go for the Powercon release because I just couldn't justify spending that much when, admittedly, I only really wanted three figures: Beastman, Man At Arms and Skeletor.

well tbf, some folks spent minimum $300 for a 5pk and She-Ra Shipped. Would have been nice to know they were gonna drop them single carded for $15ea, I would believe is their point.

I, however, don't think they'll be the same figures as I stated earlier. I think the LOP Mer-Man will be the same mold but in blue like we saw with the DC Vs MOTU 2pk. I've never seen them do an exclusive and then release it again in identical form. Either way, I'll buy it again if it is the same.

Yea, I would love to have them all single carded since I didn’t want to spend so much on the 5 pack. I don’t even care if they are the same or not

Why would Mattel announce in advance that cheap, single carded releases will be available in the future when they can convince enough people to spend hundreds on the set?

I don't know anything about a LOP Mer-Man on a single card. I saw that list from a while back and I see the "SOLD OUT" single card listing on BBTS. But no one has told me a thing about it.
If it's real, I have no doubt it's a different paint job, just like how She-Ra's regular release had molded hair but the exclusive had rooted hair.

Exactly.

Two things that I have learned since 200X relaunched:

1) Lots of MOTU fans have thousands of dollars in disposable income
2) Many of them are completists

Agree 1000%. There's no way that it's just a 'standard' LoP MerMan.

If Mattel can re-relase figures with zero tooling and just a new paint job, they are going to do it. Who can blame them?

I've got the exclusive on the way, and I'd be down with a blue repaint. Honestly, I don't even care if the mass release is exactly the same. I get why others would be bothered, of course, and have no argument with their point. That said, I'm happy to support the Con through my purchase, especially as it comes in such an awesome looking set as a whole.

Fingers crossed. That would be great! I'm sure they'll be different which will be fun to collect as well. Another difference would probably be no knife with Man At Arms.

Not sure what Mattel is up to here but if it turns out I paid a huge markup for a (admittedly nice) cardboard box I´m out of any future Powercon releases. I´m not "butthurt". I will happily spend money on something else.

Personally, I’m fine with the price. Mine is sitting in my pile of loot. I know the cost goes to the convention. I like to do my part. That said, if Mattel releases them single carded with no differences, I can see a large backlash against future exclusives.

Because this was through Powercon and not only Mattel and the mark up is on the con side and It creates this exact topic right here without transparency?? I don't care either way, I'll buy it and I'm happy with the 5pk.
