I just realized that Masterchef AU is on like, every night? There’s a lot of episodes, wow! Ours has only had 209 episodes over 11 seasons! I’m going to start watching yours tonight. Lol. Might take years.

You're going to love it Glasstor. MasterChef AU is on Monday - Thursday and Sunday. Admittedly, I only started watching it this year, I started when I was in hospital and continued watching when I got home. Now I never miss it! I have a lot to catch up with myself.

What's interesting is that two of the contestants (Depinder and Kishwar) may be joining me in tomorrow morning's COVID Benefit For India featuring Belinda Carlisle. Both ladies said they were interested and thanked me for reaching out.

    Book News:

It appears that Disney Villains: Cold Hearted (based on Lady Tremaine from Cinderella) has been delayed from June 22 to July 6, while Disney's Twisted Tales: What Once Was Mine (based on Tangled) is still set for a September 7 release date. I can't wait for news of the next DC Icons novel!

That’s awesome! It’s so much fun when you can interact with people you admire. I feel very lucky in my life that I’ve been able to meet and sometimes be friends with people I love. Totally blessed in that respect.

I'm not sure if Depinder and Kishwar were able to catch the show, but Belinda Carlisle's segment on the benefit show was absolutely amazing and awesome. She sang Sat Siri with Donna De Lory and said she's working on a new album which was a pleasant surprise!

Tonight's MasterChef will see TWO contestants eliminated from the competition, Sabina doesn't need to worry since she won the last Immunity Challenge and is safe. I truly hope Depinder doesn't get eliminated, and the same goes for Kishwar, since I've come to know them both on Instagram, and they are fans of The Go-Go's and The Bangles, which really makes me hope they both go through to the finals.

    - - - Updated - - -

Tonight's MasterChef was extremely nerve-wracking for both the contestants and the fans. The 10 remaining contestants (minus Sabina who had won immunity) were told they were cooking in two rounds with the least favourable dish in each round sending its creator home.

Depinder tried to create a walnut ice cream with salted caramel and pumpkin cake, but the judges said it lacked flavour (although it looked delicious), but it was Minoli who was sent home because her dish lacked more.

In the second round, it was Scott's overcooked fish with horseradish that got him eliminated. I feel sorry for Minoli and Scott, but delighted that my new friends Depinder and Kishwar were SAFE!

As of tonight, the Top 8 are:

    Depinder
    Kishwar
    Linda
    Pete
    Justin
    Tommy
    Sabina
    Elise

    - - - Updated - - -

Last night on MasterChef, the Top 8 went on a field trip to Uluru to cook for the judges and 50 diners. They were split into two teams - the Yellow Aprons (Sabina, Elise, Justin and Linda) and the Orange Aprons (Depinder, Kishwar, Pete and Tommy). The teams each had to cook an entree, main and dessert.

Sadly, although Depinder made a lovely dessert, she put too much gelatin in it which made it set like rock.

Tonight, as a result, Depinder, Kishwar, Pete and Tommy must face an elimination challenge as the Top 8 becomes the Top 7. I hope Depinder or Kishwar do NOT get eliminated as I love them and want one of them to win. Apologies to Pete or Tommy though but I want the ladies to stay!

    - - - Updated - - -

I'm feeling really sad tonight as Depinder was eliminated from MasterChef because the judges said her dish did not highlight native bush cuisine to full advantage. I really wanted her to win. She showed talent, passion and courage and I don't have the heart to watch the rest of the show.

I'll just stick to my music, books and DVDs for entertainment. I'm still going to stay friends with Depinder and Kishwar though. I'm hoping Kishwar wins now, but I don't think I can watch anymore. You get too attached to people in shows like this.

It's like when Jon Peter Lewis didn't win American Idol in his season although I remain a devoted fan, I have all his albums and he even thanked me for my support in the liner notes of one of his albums

I never did watch the show again though.

    - - - Updated - - -

She may not be on MasterChef anymore, but lovely and talented Depinder Chhibber is still wowing the culinary world with recipes she is posting online, like these tasty Spiced Potato & Cheese Toasties! This is a recipe I would love to try! I am delighted we haven't seen the last of Depinder!

I haven't watched a MasterChef show in a few years, but I used to watch the US one regularly and also some of the Canada one. It's a fun show.

I think the AU one would be cool to watch bits and pieces off to, particularly when you get interesting ideas like bush cuisine in Uluruu - that's a nice example of how how the various versions can have unique and fun regional variations

Just as I keep up with Jon Peter Lewis music career post-Idol, I intend to follow Depinder's career post-MasterChef as I know she has a lot to still offer the world. Maybe one day she will have her own restaurant, cooking show and cookbook!

I still say Depinder should not have been eliminated, her final dish on the show (spiced tomato salad, native gazpacho and herbed damper) showed promise and imagination.

I have another online concert on Tuesday morning with lovely and talented Beth Nielsen Chapman. I always look forward to these live shows!

It turns out that no matter who wins MasterChef or who gets eliminated, it's about the way that contestants win hearts and love from their followers, and it turns out that Depinder Chhibber and Kishwar Chowdhury have the biggest fanbases of any current or past seasons of the show. Not only are they lovely and talented and have great taste in music (they loved Belinda Carlisle's recent efforts in raising funds and awareness for COVID relief in India), I am sure any restaurant, cookbook or cooking show created by these ladies will be successful.

*There have been more than 27.4 million coronavirus cases in India with more than 315,000 recorded deaths from the virus. With much of the population staying indoors, both Chhibber and Chowdhury – who have the highest Instagram following of all this year’s contestants – said they were humbled to offer positivity and entertainment.*

Not sure if this is really the place to put it, but since like Power Rangers, you might find this story about how Stan Lee nearly made it years before Saiban did might interest you.

Admittedly I haven't been watching MasterChef since the much-loved Depinder was sadly eliminated, but I do keep up online and it turns out Tommy and Sabina were eliminated, leaving only Kishwar, Pete, Linda, Elise and Justin. Out of those, I'm cheering on Kishwar, although Pete is cute and adorable so I hope they go through to the finals.

Another classic Depinder dish: Green Curry Cake With Coconut Ice Cream, White Chocolate & Chilli Ganache! All her recipes are going online!

I have a concert with Beth Nielsen Chapman at 2:30 AM (time zone difference). I hope she sings This Kiss, which she wrote but which was also covered by Faith Hill. Here is Beth performing the song with Olivia Newton-John and Annie Roboff.

    - - - Updated - - -

I'm trying to decide whether or not to watch the last two weeks of MasterChef, it's not the same without lovely and talented Depinder and I'll admit I was annoyed with Tommy for defeating her, but now he's gone too (as well as Sabina), I feel kind of bad. This leaves Kishwar, Pete, Linda, Elise and Justin to battle it out in the finals, and I'm hoping for a win for Kishwar or Pete personally.

I don't know yet whether I'll watch the next season. I hate losing people you come to care about.

The concert with Beth Nielsen Chapman this morning was amazing and I look forward to any future live concerts, in person or online.

    Toys 'R Go

I'm not sure how old or new this toy store is (I haven't been to the city in ever so long and with my current state I doubt I will get there any time soon), but while I was in hospital I saw a commercial for Toys 'R Go which specialises in toys and collectables. I would love to know if they have classic 80's OR new MOTU, POP, Thundercats, TMNT, Disney, DC Comics or any of my favourite franchises.

Lisa Wilkinson Autobiography - "It Wasn't Meant To Be Like This"

Lovely and talented Australian journalist Lisa Wilkinson (I've been a fan for many years) has released her new autobiography It Wasn't Meant To Be Like This! It will be available on October 27.

    https://www.bigw.com.au/product/it-w...opy-/p/176100/

*I’ve been working on something that is very close to my heart over the last couple of years - in fact, when I think about it, I’ve been working on this my entire life.

It’s my autobiography, and I’m excited (and just a little bit terrified) to be sharing the cover with you today.

It’s called “It Wasn’t Meant To Be Like This”, and tells the story of how this magazine-junkie kid from (proudly) the western suburbs of Sydney, worked hard to survive the bumps and bruises of my teenage years, and went on to find myself in situations and places I could have once only ever dreamt about.

In it, I’ve completely opened up on things I’ve never talked about before, not even with some of my closest girlfriends.

I share the roller coaster ride of joys, and sadnesses, the pinch-myself moments, and the hard lessons I’ve had to learn along the way.

I’ve left no stone unturned, particularly when it comes to some of the more public moments you’ve seen in the headlines. Now, you’ll know the truth.

“It Wasn’t Meant To Be Like This” will be published by HarperCollins on October 27.

You can pre-order a copy now at your local bookshop, and signed copies are available for pre-order from Booktopia and Big W. Or if you prefer digital, you can pre-order the e-book from Apple Books.

All the pre-order links are in my bio.*

    - - - Updated - - -

One of the most inspirational things about Lisa Wilkinson is her candid recollection of her years of being the victim of traumatising bullying (something I am only too familiar with) and I hope to achieve more by reading more of her words to inspire myself and make the most of shining through the pain and emerging strong just as Lisa has.

Culinary Arts With Kishwar Chowdhury & Depinder Chhibber

It's been just over a week since MasterChef AU finished, but this year's alumni are already going on to bigger and better things. Two of the lovely ladies, Kishwar Chowdhury and Depinder Chhibber are already working in top star restaurants, and perhaps one day they may start their own, write cookbooks and appear on TV cooking shows. Kishwar has a new venture with Tonka and has already come up with a top star dish that is making mouths water everywhere! Depinder is currently located at Three Blue Ducks and is creating her own masterpieces.

    https://o.hungryhungry.com/tonka/menu

    https://www.instagram.com/depinder_/

Here are two star recipes right now, one from each of the ladies!

    Kishwar's Charred Corn Chaat

*Let me take you to winter in Dhaka
    Chilly afternoon walks, pashmina shawls
The smell of roasted chestnuts and
Corn on the Cob being roasted over coals...

Try my Charred Corn basted in my SWEET, STICKY, SPICY Tamarind baste, Chaat butter and finished with CRUNCHY sev & spiced peanuts.

*See the website for more details and recipe.

    Depinder's Pineapple Cake

Possibly one of my all time favourite cakes, every child in India grew up eating the most delicious pineapple pastries ! So here we are….

    Vanilla Sponge

    6 eggs (separated)
    2 tsp white vinegar
    2 cups flour
    2 tbsp cornflour
120 mls vegetable oil or melted butter
    2 tsp vanilla extract
    1 cup - 1 1/2 cup caster sugar

    Preheat the oven at 160C.

Whisk egg whites using a stand mixer, add vinegar and slowly add sugar and continue to whisk until stiff peaks.

Using slow speed mix in egg yolks, oil and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.

Sift the flours together atleast 2-3 times and using a spatula mix it into the rest of the batter (in thirds) slowly without mixing vigorously.

Transfer the batter into 2 lined baking tins and bake for 30 mins or until a skewer comes out clean.

Cool the cakes on a wire rack, slice them in half so you have 4 thin cakes now.

    Whipped Cream Frosting

    300 mls heavy whipping cream
    1/4-1/2 cup sifting icing sugar
    2 tsp vanilla extract

Whisk the cream with all the ingredients until it reaches stiff peaks and keep refrigerated until assembly.

For assembling the cake you will need:

    Canned pineapple chunks
    Cherries
Pineapple juice (you can use left over pineapple juice from the canned pineapples)

*I enjoy keeping up with the contestants and their current lives and careers.

I HAVE lost family members due to chronic illness and am going through it now myself as well as with other family members. So my priorities and perspective are totally acceptable as far as I am concerned.

As for "random TV show contestants", some of them are now my friends (including Depinder, Kishwar, Pete and Brent) - all friends start as strangers and the more you get to know people, they become friends, either online or offline. It was also interesting how my anaesthetist knows Depinder and her family too. I like bringing people together, bridging gaps and getting to know people.

One of my new best buddies, Will "Eggboy" Connolly has posted a video that has really helped me with my recent health crisis and accompanying mental crisis. This is a lesson in the art of not listening to those untrue and negative thoughts that we sometimes allow our mind to poison us with.

    *You are not your thoughts!

The mind is the cause of most most suffering! The stories we tell our selves we tend to IDENTIFY with too much. This causes self imposed limitations which we are able to break through with the right practice !

Learn to be conscious of your thoughts! Observe them!

    1. Be present.
    2. Learn your own thought patterns.
    3. Unlearn what you have learnt.

    4. You can now have greater control and the ability to program your life just as if someone programming a video game.

“Do you wanna be the character in the game?”

    “The player holding the controller?”

“Or the person who programmed the game ?”*

This is just one of the many inspirational videos I have been watching lately from Will.

I thin you expressed some interest in Precure when I made a thread about it. So here's the poster for the current season's movie (every season gets a movie). It's also a crossover with one of the older seasons (interestingly so was last seasons movie as well).

    Future Disney Novels

    https://disney.fandom.com/wiki/A_Twisted_Tale

I've been collecting the Disney Villains (DV) and Twisted Tales (TT) novels for a while now and although I knew about the TT Blue Fairy novel based on Pinocchio (title unknown although it will be written by Elizabeth Lim), apparently there will be a TT book based on The Princess And The Frog called Almost There, written by Farrah Rochon (a new writer for the series). Both books will be released in 2022.

*Almost There is the first Twisted Tale written by Farrah Rochon and will be based on the 2009 animated movie, The Princess And The Frog. It will be the 13TH Twisted Tale and will be released some time in 2022. It is also unknown what the twist will be, but Tiana will remain human throughout the whole book.*

*[UNKNOWN TITLE] This Twisted Tale will be based on the Blue Fairy from the 1940 classic, Pinocchio and will be the 14TH Twisted Tale. It will be focused on the Blue Fairy for a whole new story. It will be written by Elizabeth Lim for a 2022 release date, although neither the title nor twist has been confirmed yet.*

*No news of the 9TH Disney Villains title by Serena Valentino, or the character the story will be based on has been confirmed yet.

    STUFF You And The World

Sorry, it's just me being a cheeky mischief, I couldn't resist it...

Anyway, this thread is about a new product line called STUFF which I recently heard about thanks to MasterChef contestant Brent Draper on Instagram. Brent chose to leave the contest due to severe mental health issues halfway during the season, but he has since seen the light again and is working to help other young men deal with the stigma of mental health. Brent is doing all sorts of inspirational things to fight toxic masculinity, racism, misogyny and homophobia. He really is a lovely guy, so I feel compelled to help the cause. I'm promoting Brent and STUFF anywhere I can online.

    https://www.instagram.com/followthestuff/

*STUFF is an uncomplicated brand, with purpose. We’re keeping personal care simple for men. Do you need stuff for the shower? For your face? How about your hair, pits and, ah, other bits? Then this is your lucky day because we’ve got you sorted: you’ll be looking and feeling the goods in no time.

    https://websiteofstuff.com/pages/our-story

*STUFF is an uncomplicated brand, with purpose.

We’re keeping personal care simple for men. This is your lucky day because we’ve got you sorted: you’ll be looking and feeling the goods in no time.

It’s a confusing time to be a man. We see guys all around us suffering under the weight of limiting, toxic stereotypes that are reinforced by outdated brands. We know that suicide is the country’s leading cause of death for guys aged under 45; one in five boys will experience mental illness before the age of 18; and family violence kills at least one woman every week.

We believe this is preventable if we invest in initiatives that allow men to break free of limiting constructs and express themselves more freely. Consumer brands shape culture, and there is a huge opportunity for STUFF to help tackle the escalating crisis around masculinity. It is urgent that we find new ways to do so and that’s why we’re here: to reflect a more authentic masculinity.*

This is the crassest form of capitalism — one that hides its profit motive behind the veneer of social improvement. How much junk do I have to buy free k this corporation before I can congratulate myself for being free of toxic masculinity? And I know it’s Tar Swamp material, but since this Stuff brought it up, what is toxic masculinity, anyway?

You're not getting the point of the whole cause. You don't HAVE to buy anything to support the nobility of the ideals behind STUFF, although you CAN if you CHOOSE to. Brent has said explicitly that:

*I don’t watch the news, I cook for the soul, I spend as much time as I can in the salt water surfing and I spend time with people who light me up.

All of this stuff is great for my mental health and my insides, but I’ve never really invested much on things that make me feel good on the outside. Things like skincare and hair products or even clothes, I’ve always been a bit of a battler when it comes to this stuff. Not anymore legends!

I’m so stoked to have partnered with STUFF which is a men’s personal care brand, with purpose. They've put their hand up to talk about what healthy masculinity should look like in 2021, and I’m here for it. What I love is that everything they do is for the greater good of supporting their charity partner The Man Cave, https://themancave.life/, a leading preventative mental health and emotional intelligence service for young men. And every $1000 in sales puts a young man through a Man Cave program - it’s absolutely epic.

I was a teenage boy once, I know how hard it can be for them to find their way with all the pressures on their shoulders. I really want to lead by example and show them what healthy masculinity looks like, and STUFF is helping do just that. I made a promise to myself that I would only ever work with brands that align with my values, and that I 100% believe in. That’s why I’ve decided to partner with STUFF.*

The whole cause is about helping OTHERS.

I will say they are kind of an odd pair to team up. Tropical Rouge (the current season) is a very lighthearted and comical season, while Heartcatch (the older season) is comparatively much more dramatic in tone and could have some surprisingly dark twists and turns at times.

Then again Heartcatch did have a lot of wacky humour as well, so maybe that aspect of it's cast will get emphasised more.

I'm guessing it's something akin to the changes in Winx Club and World Of Winx (the follow-up series) and the spin-off series Pop Pixies.

OK, let's get back to the inspirational topic of people and organisations that fight toxic masculinity. I was speaking to Will Connolly and he's also an advocate of the cause and knows the CEO..

It's more that Precure tends to alternate between lighter and more dramatic seasons. I don't want to use the term dark because while they can have their darker moments, even the more dramatic ones tend to have an overall upbeat tone.

My post WAS about the topic.

I don't like the name. I think it is dull and not very inspirational and not at all thought through.

"I bought Stuff" will have most people respond with "Like what?"

    or

"I bought THE Stuff" people will think you are either talking about the horror movie (of which I shared the poster) or even possibly drugs.

The cause seems fine, even somewhat commendable, but the name sounds like a parody.
