I believe there were several, you can actually see the design of one on the back of Origins Fisto's card art.

You can see some in He-Bro's Origins Evil-Lyn/Fisto video from last week:

Someone else can probably chime in, but I believe Snake Mountain started as a jungle playset as well, and there was a Castle Grayskull prison or dungeon planned.
I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. But this wasn't it.

I believe that was fan made conceptual art, just like the ones for the Royal Palace, Lady Slither's Lair, Castle Brightmoon, and the Filmation Fright Zone. They were never planned to be produced...just the fans' creative wishful thinking.

Those are slides from a panel at Power-Con. That is an official prototype from the 80's.

The Sanders brothers did a great panel which included a bunch of unproduced items from the POP line.

Very cool!! It's a shame that it never saw the light of day.

Yeah...I just saw a Toyguru video with clips about the original jungle playset that was planned...and honestly that looks a LOT more fun that Snake Mountain was. The break away bridge, the falling boulders... the fact that it never REALLY looked like Snake Mountain alwasy put a damper on the playset for me.

The Jungle one though would have rocked.

I've often wondered how far any discussions of an Eternian Royal Palace playset might've gotten.

Perhaps not the most dynamic or action-heavy setting for a playset. But it always bothered me that King Randor and Prince Adam never had a place to just go sit and chill. I mean, the only "throne" is the one in Castle Grayskull, but I'm like, "Randor's not King of Grayskull!" But like, he's a King, and there's a throne, where else can he realistically sit between battles? That always bugged the crap outta me.

Well, originally there was no such thing as a 'snake mountain'. He-man was a jungle warrior who just wandered out of the woods one day to fight monsters. Skeletor had no 'home base' to speak of... so they were working on the idea of 'Jungle Adventures' and having He-man be almost 'Tarzanish.'

Then filmation created Snake mountain, and stories had 'Grayskull' as more of the 'good guy base' instead of a neutral terratory that nobody could get in... and Mattel decided they should make a 'bad guy base'... and HEY, this is already past the design stage, and it even has a giant snake... Why not just repurpse this?

It was a pretty interesting video.

But honestly, I really like the jungle playset better than i did Snake Mountain.

Brian Flynn mentioned in an interview that he found stuff about an unproduced updated Castle Grayskull meant for the Powers of Grayskull line

That's everything we know. He said he found a bunch of sketches for vintage concepts including a new Grayskull, new vehicles, giants, and figures, including the Skeletor troopers from the '87 movie.
