an update on this by one of the writers contributing to the project:

sigh okay so. the story with the artbook was that it was done by a very small team that was being put under a lot of crunch to put it together by an arbitrary deadline. they burnt out and it led to fallout with the group. the twitter post was made without the consent of the other team members and only contributed worse to the burnout from the project. the art is still gathered and we still want to put it out but life + jobs + creative burnout has gotten in the way

It's a shame that his hasn't come out yet... the more time that goes by, the less likely it will come to fruition I feel.

I would absolutely love to be wrong, because I want this art / making of book badly!

It kind of feels like the difference between a passion project by a younger generation and one by an older generation. The older generation ones usually have a higher percentage chance of actually getting done. I'd think with the strikes in Hollywood that could maybe free up some time of some involved, but apparently not. Unless they do some sort of Kickstarter for it, I don't see it getting released.

Depends what you qualify as older vs younger generation. The listed participants are all like 30-45 (or around there; some people aren’t comfortable disclosing). I don’t know most of them personally and don’t know how much they’d be okay with me sharing, but as far as I’m aware none of them work in Hollywood? They’re not those kinds of writers.
