Newbie here regarding Super 7 MOTU

    Hi folks,
I had so many of the MOTU toys in 80's when I was a child. I look on Amazon for instance, and they look really good and the closest to the original toys, that I remember.

Should I go for Super7 ? I heard from someone on youtube, that they can break easily, and Super 7 is pretty new in the toy game.

I really am only interested in the original series and it's toys. Don't care for other He-man and MOTU incarnations, although I have a soft spot for the Dolph Lungren movie, but that's another story.

I see some people prefer the origins figures.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

From my experiences Super 7 vintage type figures are all good EXCEPT She-Ra she can't stand and is a mess and we FINALLY got a vintage He-Ro and Eldor finally...

If you want a smaller limited collection with major Filmation inspiration then the Super7 figures are the way to go, as that line has ended. If you want figures that look close to identical as the ones you had a a kid, only with better articulation, then Origins is the way to go. Plus the Origins line is quickly expanding and going strong with plenty more figures on the way I'm sure. I would go with Origins IMHO.

Both Super 7(aka neo vintage) and Origins are nice MOTU toyline both based on the vintage toy line.

    Super 7
    - Line stops with only a handful of characters release with few variants
    - Imagined as "What if the vintage toyline released the Filmation look of the main characters, what will it be like in reality?".
    - They also made the unreleased He-Ro and Eldor as if both were released in the 80's vintage line.

    Origins
    - Basically, this line is answering the thought of "What if the 80's vintage toy line is released today, how will it be made?" thus the more articulation and the more playability factor via swapping parts.
    - The line is still growing and expanding today.

The Super 7 figures look nice but overall the look and playability of the Origins toys are vastly superior in every way.

I just purchased the first one was Super7 He-man Robot and I tested it on the waist action 20 times and it broken off the spring. I also tried to remove both arms and the right arm was broken off fragile. Well, I used its accessories on my Origins He-man and the body for custom.

Oh, I purchased 32 origins figures and Castle Grayskull in Walmart stores and online. The figures are great and no wear. Some figures loosen on its knees, I'm pretty happy with them.

Do you want to collect lose or on card? For carded figures IŽd recommend getting the Commemorative Series which is the closest thing to vintage without buying vintage. Prices are high though.

The Super7 stuff tries to look like Filmation, not the original toyline.

Next best thing would be Origins.

Then Origins is your best option.

I bought the Super7 figures so my future kid (now I have a son, yay!) could play with them one day instead of my vintage. But now he will get Origins as they are more fun in terms of what you can do, plus the Super7 stuff will probably be worth more later.

My daughter has ZERO interest in any of my vintage stuff or the Origins....She likes the MOTU Classics She-Ra stuff. Loves Swiftwind..and any of the female characters. She also plays with Arrow a little bit....and Bow. Kinda like we all did in our child hood regarding Bow...LOL

I agree Origins is probably much easier to get right now, less expensive (because it's still on the market) and has great articulation and durability, since the plastic is a little bit less brittle.

    BUT

If you want Filmation-accurate figures (which is always my priority, personally) then I definitely encourage you to pick up the Filmation Super7 5 inch "Neo-Vintage" figures (someone on here coined that term and I think it works well).

Just be warned - the crotch joints are not to be messed with. Do not think you can move the legs around easily because you really can't. Slowly, gently get them into a decent standing position and leave them that way.

She-Ra, sadly, is one of the least good figures, even though she's in her Filmation outfit, because, as others here have said, they based her off the vintage Teela figure, and that means her legs are at strange angles that make her prone to falling over.

But the Shadow Weaver figure is amazing and absolutely worth picking up. The same for Evil Seed. I'm not sure Mattel will make either of those in Origins.

Mer-Man, Trap Jaw, Beast Man and Man-At-Arms are also great and look like they stepped out of the show. Teela is good too.

And because they're the same size as Origins figures, you can include them in your collection and they all blend rather well, even though, yes, Origins figures are slightly more detailed and not really Filmation style at all.

Try to find someone selling off their Super7 figures as a lot - that's what I did and I was really pleased with them all.

    Happy hunting!
