I noticed this board is missing a general discussion thread for Origins, so here we go.
So it looks like the forthcoming waves are:-
Mini Comic Trap Jaw
Anti Eternia He-Man
Clawful
Horde Trooper
Whiplash
King Randor
Mantenna
200X Skeletor (I hope this is Disco Skeletor)![]()
MOTU Origins Wishlist: Oo-Larr, Karg, Lady Slither, Fang-Or, Goat-Man, Movie He-Man & Skeletor, Hawke, Slamurai, Shadow Weaver, Lodar, Snake Face, Geldor, Lord Gr'Asp, Strobo
That wave really gets me excited! Whiplash was a childhood favorite, and I never had a Randor. Clawful is a must have of course, and Mantenna..well, Mantenna I could live without. But nice to see they are doing more Horde characters. Makes me hopeful for a Leech!![]()
As a kid in the 1980s I had Whiplash, Clawful, and Mantenna. I can't wait to get all 3. I never owned the Horde Troopers or King Randor as a kid but I will add them to my Origins collection. My current plan is to buy 6 retail Horde Troopers to go along with the 2 colored ones in the Power Con exclusives 4-pack.
I'm looking forward to Whiplash and King Randor a lot, hopefully they don't mess with their designs too much.

Some new images of Clawful, Anti-Eternia He-Man and as I posted before the Horde Trooper.

I do have to say, that if Mantenna has the fused-together legs like the original figure, I'll be very disappointed. I mean, yes, it would be a homage to the original figure, but not a very welcome one, IMO. We know they can do better nowadays. Pretty surprised he wasn't a Deluxe release.
Yeah, I had the vintage as a kid and he always seemed a bit goofy. He was so different from the other figures, but not in a good way. I like the character and feel a bit of nostalgia for him, the action feature was always fun, but the new figure deserves some improvements.
If it is true that the line will be cancelled in April, without Spikor, Mossman, Twobad, Modulok, Syklone and Dragstor, I will be very bitter about Mattel’s decision to produce a bunch of z-list affirmative action figures which supplanted core characters.
If any of these lines end at retail it’s 100% due to poor distribution. Mattel’s distribution right on down to the store/company’s distribution.
What I see is that the stores are the most at fault and the problems are regional. I see all these store reports saying all this crap is overflowing and on clearance. I rarely see anything on clearance and most of the shelves around me are bare(and have been) save a few naked Stratos and the occasional Masterverse. Rotons and Stridors? My stores never got them. CGI figures? My stores got a fraction of them and never saw Grayskull. Haven’t seen new Origins figures in well over 6 months and those were a refresh of wave 7.
Walmart has no clue how to distribute product to their stores. Target is better but still, it seems like they will send 300 minis to one store and 200 skelegods to another. All to end up clearanced out. I completely blame the retail stores for not being able to handle ordering and inventory.
End rant.![]()
You do realize that Wave 12 is supposedly 4 figures that are neither vintage nor ROTS? Without Sun-Man you'll just be getting pink Teela and Anti-Eternia Orko not Rio Blast and Saurod.

Agree.
Give me more Rulers instead of AntiEternia Orko, Minicomic Teela o any other silly repaint of the same core figures. May or may not like you the Rulers, but they are unique figures and you can add them as new warriors to the display.
On the other hand it is true that they could have reuse the basic mold for making minicomic/sketchs/Filmation unique and new characters instead of the Rulers...

About the Rulers debate. I think majority of fans would have loved Galaxy Warriors made MOTU Canon and released in Origins form (With maybe some upgrades) instead of Rulers, and Galaxy Warriors would have been supercheaper to make for Mattel (All of them share the same body, arms and legs).
If you think corporations do anything, ANYTHING, for any reason other than to make money, you are simply mistaken.
They made RotS because they thought it would sell. Did it sell like they wanted? I have no idea, I do not get to be in those meetings. If it gave them a few positive articles on the internet, that is just icing on the cake but the bottomline is they thought they could make money. That is the exact same reason why they will eventually make all the vintage characters, whether through mass market, internet retailers like BBTS and EE, and/or Mattel Creations.
I agree with others that have predicted we will lose out on zero, ZERO, vintage characters in Origins because of the addition of RotS characters. Mattel wants to sell us toys, period. They knew they could sell RotS characters AND vintage characters so why only sell one or the other? Corporations EXIST to make money.
It is sad to me that we still see these things as an all-or-nothing situation.
People are going to disagree. America was built on disagreement, differing viewpoints and rational compromise.
It still surprises me that even in this tiny slice of fandom, some of us still find a way to say, 'Hey, the way you enjoy MOTU is wrong and is directly responsible for me not enjoying it as much!'
MOTU is fun. MOTU is silly. Most of us have loved it for 40ish years. And for me personally, I will take all the MOTU figures, old AND new, I can get. Luckily, Mattel will make them and sell them to us. Because they are a corporation and we all know the ONE thing that matters to them, not appearances or dog-whistle catchphrases or any of our personal viewpoints or attributes. Mattel would put He-man in a ponytail and *gasp* PANTS and shoot him into space if they thought it would sell...
...oh wait.![]()

While I agree that toy companies are in it for the profits, but also there are other political agendas/motives behind some of their decision making to shape up pop culture and whatnot (much like Hollywood and the entertainment sector). Sometimes those agendas are being forced on them by association with other outer entities and sometimes they're driven by internal politics... Not only that, it's also by the people (and the type of people) they choose to hire and in what positions they're given to operate within or from.
Money is definitely a big factor in any industrial operation, but isn't always the only factor!
Creativity is addictive.
Your perspective is only valid, I feel, if the line continues into the future and everyone ultimately gets whatever figures they want. But IF the line is cancelled as claimed, we will certainly lose out on some core figures; and it would indeed then be the case that figures like Spikor and Moss Man did lose their slots to ROTS figures. Don't get me wrong - I hope you're right and that everything is hunky dory.
If Origins being low in stock were unique I would be concerned, but I've been looking at the same three Kingdom Transformers for months at my local Target and nearby Walmarts aren't do any better with most toy lines. It's not MOTU or Mattel failing it's the ****ed up supply chain. Partly held up because California won't allow trucks older that 2011 to work in the state. Among other things.
But like said above let's focus on the toys.

I think this might be the answer. I seem to remember some people saying their Buzzsaw Hordaks exploded upon buzzsaw launch, so maybe their messing with his engineering.
This is probably wishful thinking, but maybe since Beastman and Merman are core characters, we’ll get a sort of refresher wave ready with those two, Man-at-Arm, and Teela, and they don’t want too many Beast and Mermen floating around
