    Too... Many... He... Men...

That being said, do ye suppose they'll at least give the ripper a pull back motor?

I don't reckon I'll be rushing to grab any more origins so this inquiry is more a matter of curiosity.

If not maybe they'll price it the same as Adam and the sky sled.

    Vote with your wallet.

Companies will stop predatory business practices when we stop rewarding it and scrabbling for the newest shiny like brain-damaged junkies.

I'm very impressed with Snake Armour Skeletor. I think I will grab a few extra just for the armour and weaponry to customise future figures as slaves of the Snake Men.

I think figures like Keldor and Prince Adam could look v cool with this armour. I also think King Hiss needs that shield too.

Yes, you can still buy ring caps (exactly like the ones Thunder Punch He-Man used) in toy stores today.

While that's true they are not readily available everywhere and are frowned upon by many parents.

These guys back in the 80's were masterminds in everything, masters of the art, they did everything with a huge amount of passion and heart.
Today it's basically 99% money reason.

Just look at Mark Taylor in the toys that made us. Things had to be exactly like he wanted, he had a vision. And if Mark was wrong with something, like the Grayskull door, even the higher people made sure things had a playable value and the toys are made RIGHT!

This actually goes for many things, wether it be toys, movies, music, TV series. Just listen to Beyonce lyrics.... Brain-dead.
Corporate US has changed since the 80s.
I think it’s hard to find places where the creatives / designers get so much freedom and faith and support as it was with MOTU in the 80s.
I know it a bit from advertising and publishing– the finance people are running the show, and a lot of them are not that creative (but great at finance). I think there are some very talented and passionate people around, but they do not get to do their thing at these big companies.

Mostly, it’s smaller places that give that vibe these days, wether it’s movies, music, toys…

And then, costs have changed, prices for different things went up in ways that you just can’t make money that way anymore. There is just stuff you can’t do anymore. We’re talking the whole mass-produced, retail line, of course.

On the other hand, I’m still mostly very happy with Origins. It is really done for the fans. I do see passion and love in them. All the artwork, we even got an iteration of mini comics!
I just got Snout Pout and while there’s a lot of workaround here, it has a lot going on.

That said, Mekaneck really ticks me off, along with Rattlor etc.
They could have done a pull-out action… but having loose pieces of neck lying around, it just sucks.

The same could be said about Mattel's Slime, but they still make it today.

The question was: could Mattel still legally make a Thunder Punch He-Man with caps today, and the answer is yes. Stores that sell MOTU Origins like Amazon, Wal-Mart, and Smyths also sell those caps, so they are actually pretty easy to get.

Action features were my LEAST favorite part of vintage MOTU. It bothered me that it seemed like they were just throwing everything into the pot and stirring. Ooh some pop caps, ooh let's spring-load this, this guy sprays water, Ram Man was basically a statue, this guy stinks, this guy is covered in felt, just on and on. There were, what, 4 variations on the 'action punch' gimmick alone? Some of them - water spraying for instance - was cool because it didn't destroy the look and (relative to the time) articulation but it got reused 3 times.

For me, losing most of the gimmicks has actually improved Origins. I will always love vintage MOTU for what it meant to me as a child but now, as an adult, I love Origins.

That said, I do wish there was some sort of middle ground because I hate that other MOTU fans are disappointed with the lack of gimmicks. At least with head sculpts, a character can have both heads and everyone wins but action features? It really seems like it is all or nothing.

Counterpoint - gimmicks are what powered the creation of some of the most creative characters.

I'll admit that Two-Bad could have just been cool double-headed monster and no one will miss his gimmick that badly once they announce him in Origins but most guys like Stinkor, Extendar, Man-E-Faces, Modulok, Sy-Klone were all invented specifically around their gimmick. Most of those characters didn't have backstory giving context to who they are, they needed some instant pitch to make them memorable. Blast-Attak would never be invented if he didn't split.

I agree to the point where I think gimmicks are the heart and soul of the line. All of the characters are freaks in their own special way! The gimmick-less characters, like King Randor, seem so lifeless to me in comparison.
