    Binki's Kitbash Customs!

    Hullo all!

Greetings once again from the tropical land of sunny Malaysia!

I'm a bit of a novice kitbasher, having come here from miniature model building and a liver transplant so since I'm largely cooped up I have taken to customizing MotU figures!

Do excuse me crude customs, but I hope they bring ye all a good giggle.

First up, all my customs so far:

L-R: Lootor, Faker, Vespero, Meat-Beat, Nyah-Mook, Double-Fisto, Slavor, Conan of Eternia, Prince Keldor.

Some are simple head and part swaps, while others have had complete head repaints and custom accessories.

Ye can see and read about my customs over HERE

Next up, my figures with minor alterations:

Man-At-Arms: Removed left bracer, added energy shield from John Cena.
Ninjor - Switched feet with Clamp-Champ; I wanted him to look like a more human assassin
Webstor - Switched blaster rifle for Fisto's longsword and traded feet with Fisto.
Tri-klops - traded left hands with Prince Adam, gave him the blaster pistol from Man-e-Faces.

Sometimes there are figures that ye feel are almost perfect if not for one, tiny niggling little element.
I'm glad the modular nature of Origins makes such a task dead simple.

That's all for now! More pics to come soon once I'm done retaking a few.

    Me collection thus far...

Me dollies thus far, both customs and stock:

Meat-Beat and Stridor typically occupy my nightstand. I began working on him while in the hospital and so he was sort of tasked with keeping me sane.

Doubtless the nurses were somewhat concerned about the mental wellbeing of a 30+ year old man sitting in his hospital bed and talking to a dolly.

    A question to ye all...

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make Mer-Man look more interesting? He's a bit plain compared to everybody else.

I think to do full images, you have to post them somewhere else and add the image from URL and uncheck the "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" box.

How you have them posted now is fine, though, because they go to full size when we click on them.

Adding paint details to the armor and sword, maybe? That worked well for the PowerCon exclusive version of Lords of Power Mer-Man.

Oh, so ye can actually see them as images then?
That's good, cos they appear as tiny thumbnails when I'm logged in, but file names when I'm not, so I've got no idea wot everyone is seeing.

    The internet is hard.

I prefer to keep my toys looking more like toys tho, so even when I do apply paintwork (such as Meat-Beat's head) I try to keep it even and flat.

I suspect that his legs are too bare and I need to fashion some sort of bright yellow loincloth or bling for his lower legs or somesuch. There's just too much sea green on him.

    One of my favourite figures.

One of my favourite creations is Meat-Beat, an original character based off one of my own comic creations.

    Parts:
    • He-Man (head)
    • Fisto (torso and arms)
    • WWE Triple-H (legs)
    • Clawful (feet)
    • Skeletor (loincloth)
    • Faker (harness and sword)

I see this iteration of him as a Faker that's gone rogue. shunned by the Masters due to his kind's history of deception and unable to return to the Evil Warriors, Meat-Beat has decided to strike out on his own, seeking to form his own legends as he sets out to prove he is more than a pale imitation of Eternia's greatest protector.

The original character design he was loosely based on:

    Faker!!!

Got my hands on a Faker a few days ago.

I felt that as an evil robotic copy of He-Man, the addition of Skeletor armor was a bit too much, so decided to clean up his design somewot.

Gave him the Anti-Eternia weapons and armor as well as Skeletor's legs and hands (which are, surprisingly different from He-Man's) whose gripping, clawlike pose was more fitting to grasp the shield on his left arm. Finally capped it all off with Triple H's leather boots as I felt the laced, leathery texture that combined with the black power harness gave a somewot dark S&M theme that set him apart from the original.

All in all, pretty happy with how he came out. ^_^

Gave his weapon and armor to Meat-Beat, who, as a Rogue Faker now looks the part proper.

    While I'm at it...

While on the subject of kink-shaming, I was shopping around awhile back and was looking at Clamp-Champ, who seemed less popular with Malaysian fans.

I really loved his alternate headsculpt, so decided to use it and Clamp Champ himself to make another original character; Slavor, Taskmaster of the Horde!

Here he is in action: LINK!

Great job all around. I really like Faker and Meat Beat.

For Mer-Man, paint gems/ovals on his armor turquoise. That would be a good start, and you can do it flat like you mentioned, to keep him looking like a toy.

Also, just adding a darker tint of yellow to the center squares on his armor and to part of his sword would go a long way. That or use the orange from his head and paint that on the center squares. It's too much yellow - I agree this Mer-Man is not very good. I like the LOP one much better.

That sounds like a great idea. I'll give that a go, maybe add some yellow stripes to his skin to match him to his armor.
Little bits of orange-yellow shading between the segments of his breastplate might help too.
I'll let ye know how it goes, thanks!

    Double-Fisto

Left to his own devices in the Magical Forest, warden Malcolm, also known as the mighty Fisto, began to lose his already tenuous grip on his sanity.

Never having truly reformed, Fisto began to indulge his darker, predatory instincts.

By the time the guard found him, he had already reforged himself into a depraved monster; not a shell of his former self but something entirely different.
Yet, King Adam saw that a spark of good remained in his old comrade and it is this spark that could direct him towards creatures of evil rather than good.

His prosthesis warped into terrible slashing claws, the monster now known as Double-Fisto stalks the forest of Eternia, his lust-driven wrath falling upon Horde patrols and their distorted screams fill the night sky.

    Hellyeah!

These are really amazing customs! I really liked She-ra and no doubt the "Meat-Beat" is also my favorite.

Thanks; Meat-Beat is the pride of my collection and takes his place on me nightstand.

I recently commissioned a headsculpt from a 3D printing service and am going to use Evil-Lyn 200X as a base body to make Meat-Beat's girl, Allura the Dark Enchantress.
Allura is basically an albino version of my comic villainess Sati, so it's quite exciting to see both my creations as MotU figures.

    Stay tuned!

Also, I saw your Charger mount for Teela. Bloody amazing!
For awhile I began to wonder if Mattel is gonna release it as a mount in Origins.

    Keldor

    Kustom Keldor, Prince of Eternos.

I balked at the price of the two pack so I commissioned a sculptor from Melaka to do a head for this lad.

Skeletor torso, Faker hands and legs.

The epoxy putty head is extremely heavy and fragile though, so this lad is purely a display piece and I don't really fiddle with him much.

    L-R:
    • Darksoul, Apprentice of Keldor
    • Tri-Klops the Hunter
    • Slavor, Taskmaster of the Horde
    • Buzz-Off, King of the Andreenids

So I decided to try my hand at switching fluffy trunks between characters using a hair dryer and nervous squeaking as I gently tried removing legs.

It seems my efforts were a success.

Since Sun Man doesn't hold a lot of significance here in Malaysia (I don't think we had him back in the day) I initially didn't quite know wot to do with him.
However, since I bought Wave 8 as a set I decided to try switching trunks between characters for more customizing options and I would turn Sun Man into one of my custom creations as I did with Clamp champ.

However, I'm not sure if it's just me, but unlike Clamp Champ's heroic/villainous face (depends on which head ye use), I thought Sun Man looked oddly child-like.

So I thought he would make an interesting apprentice or squire due to his youthful appearance.

Thus, Darksoul, apprentice of Skeletor was born.

    The great Vespero!!!

Another custom figure, the renowned duellist of Eternia, known only as The Great Vespero.

This mysterious masked figure wanders Eternia as a hired sword and is often said to be found in the employ of the former Prince Keldor.

Having heard of the might and skill of He Man, Eternia's greatest champion, Vespero seeks to challenge and slay the hero to prove his martial superiority and claim the title of the most powerful man in the Universe.

    Is it just me?

Is it just me or are villains more fun to make than heroes?
