    Official Australian Collectors Thread

I know there are a few of us Aussies on the org and that face unique obstacles as Australian based collectors. I thought it might be good to have a thread where we could discuss topics particularly relevant to us.

I did have what I thought might be a good idea considering half of the items that go up these days drop at 3am and sell out in minutes. I hope this is ok to discuss here?

I was wondering if a few of us (2-3) wanted to go in a collective and we each try and snag whatever item it is for the group when they drop. eg: we each try to order 3 Mattel Creations XYZ figure. If of us 2 are successful, then 1 cancels his/her order and we still each get 1. (paying via Paypal goods and services at the retail price.)

Does that make sense? Its like an insurance policy for each of us? Let me know if you are interested in something like this.

Otherwise feel free to post anything you think might be of interest to us Aussie collectors, like actually finding figure in stores here!

Sounds good, I’d be up for that. Can we start yesterday and someone get a Kol Darr for me as I will be asleep when it drops?

    Hi there.

Found Battle cat and Panthor on sale (AUS $ 25.99) from the Australian site of Zavvi.com.au
I know the online retailer is based in the UK but at those prices and with reasonable shipping rates, thought I'd spread the word.

    Update

Mad Zombie Collectibles has the Eternian Palace Guard for a reasonable AUS $34.99 available at the moment.

I've also seen that www.robotoyz.net has quite an extensive collection Master of the WWE Universe. Tempted to grab Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat Action Figure but it is a bit too pricey. I wonder if this will be the same dragon used for Dragon Blaster Skeletor?

Ok with Wun-Dar dropping soon, most likely in MC. Does anyone want to try the buying collective idea? We all try and buy for ourselves and each other and if more than I is successful we just cancel?

Let me know if you are interested.

I am in but I usually like to get at least 2, one to open one to keep sealed. Having said that one is better than none.

    Can you simply cancel?

I ordered Kol Darr last week, and it was paid by direct credit card payment at the time of order. If it was a proper pre-order (charged at the time of delivery, such as Amazon does) then there wouldn't be an issue, but I don't know if you actually can just cancel this.

No one else seems to be interested but I’ll order an extra one in case you miss out. Feel free to do the same. I’m sure someone will take it if you don’t.

Thanks, will do. With the prices these things go for on eBay we could probably retire early if we end up with too many

I will try to buy an extra and happy to ship somewhere in Oz. I actually have an extra of Koldar because I have two Mattel Creations accounts because I was paranoid that one account/PC would freeze up.

I will take him (your extra Koldarr) if he is available. I missed out completely and didn’t realise when he dropped overnight

Done! Please send me a PM with some contact details. I'll make a note of it in my MOTU shopping list where I make a note of all my open orders

New random things I've seen on the webs for us Ozzies:

Been keeping an eye on the He-Man MOTU Complete Series DVD, it's now on clearance and only $40 (was $80) at the Big W. Wonder if they will release this one day on Blu-ray disc?

Bulletproof Villain have the preorders up for Origins Wave 9, including the deluxe figures. It says the delivery date is end August.

Whatever you do, don't order more than 1 wave at a time from Bulletproof villian, especially if there is a pre-order involved. They will wait until EVERYTHING is in before sending it out and won't even split it if you offer to pay for the extra postage.

I'd use them again but I'd order smarter knowing this next time.

Yes, this happened to me too. I'm impatient these days and not ordering from local retailers as much.

Does anyone know anywhere to get some reasonably priced origins horde troopers? I want to army build but don’t want to spend 40-50$ each

    Th Australia tax strikes again!

The only place I've seen them under that price is BBTS etc but then you have to pay shipping & taxes.

I've never found an origins figure in store in Sydney, are Big W stocking this wave yet? Thats probably your only option.

I don't think that Big W will be stocking Origins again, ever. They removed almost all trace of it from their web page months ago. Which isn't entirely unreasonable, given that they just could not get hold of stock (Masterverse and animated stuff is very different for some reason).

Toyworld might have some available in some of their stores, so you could check. They're going for an awesome $17.99 (Sale price only available at certain stores, see below for participating stores.)

I did a quick calculation for one figure from BBTS:

    Subtotal: $18.99
    Shipping: $8.00
    Tax: $2.51
    Total: $29.50
With exchange rate for 1 figure: AU $42.69 (Ouch!)

The shipping and tax would need to be adjusted for multiples, so if you were to order 6 Horde Troopers it would look something like:

    Subtotal: $113.94
Shipping: $32.00 (guesstimate and multiplied by 4)
    Tax: $15.06
    Total: $161.00
With exchange rate, cost of 1 figure bought in bulk: AU$233/6 = $38.33

So it's cheaper to buy it from Popcultcha and wait a century (if you can't get it from a local Toyworld store).

I am kind of hoping something pops up on Amazon under 30$, like Sunman did. I won’t be dealing with popcultcha again. They have cancelled origins preorders I made ages ago, didn’t bother telling me just refunded me which I noticed weeks after it was done. Also still waiting on preorders I made over a year ago on other stuff which has been now in stock for a couple of weeks on their site but not sent mine yet.
