MOTU Origins: Master list and speculation of each wave

Hi there Origins collectors, I thought it'd be fun to dedicate a new thread where we can update a master list for each official wave of the Origins line (in chronological order) and also waste time sharing our predictions for upcoming waves in 2023 and onwards...

Note: I'll use this first post to make the master list but in the meantime please feel free to speculate what you think we're likely to see in 2023? Also, please let me know if there are any errors!

I think we'll see the remaining vintage characters stretched out for the next two years though that could be put sharply into context with how fast the Snakemen are arriving! Still, there's any amount of 200X re-dos to potentially be had, a Night Stalker repaint (though Stridor shelf warmed HARD), the art we've seen suggests we're getting the Powers of Grayskull lot, and so on. The only real question for me is will Mattel wind their neck in on the unnecessary Creations exclusivity problems.

Well, from SDCC we have a reasonable idea of what comes after those announced waves and presumably sometime in 2023

- Mekaneck + Roadripper
- Rattlor
- Kobra Khan
- King Hiss
- Tung Lashor
- Grizzlor (MC exclusive)

After that (i.e. late 2023/2024), I assume we will see:

- King Grayskull (MC exclusive /w Eternia)
- Eternia playset
- GUESS: Moss-man (MC exclusive)
- GUESS: Nightstalker (tooling is done, would be silly not to use it)

What I would *love* to see before this line ends:

- Dragonwalker
- Dragonhead Skeletor
- Laserpower He-man/Skeletor
- Fright Zone playset

Any time I make predictions, I'm always proven wrong

But what the hell.
In 2023, two guys I am 100% confident in are He-Ro and Zodak. They're the two guys that were specifically "snake fighters" and hated King Hiss' guts. If next year is all-snake, they'd be pretty foolish to not include them.
Also, in his interview with Pixel Dan, Graham implied more than one of those boxart guys were coming besides the Skeletons. Safest bets are the frog and gladiator from wind raider box because of their obvious part reuse, and the cyclops because he was on the Grayskull box and the Wun-Dar comic with the aforementioned Skeletons.
They haven't revealed any vintage heroic warriors for 2023 besides Mekaneck, either. I figure we should at least get 1 or 2, so again I'll go with safe bets: Moss Man, Sy-klone and Extendar were all teased, so I'd expect them.
I expect a Snake Mountain reveal for next year, but do NOT expect Eternia. I don't know how long crowd funded stuff takes off hand, but I'm gonna guess it'll be a drawn out process and the actual set won't ship until sometime in 2024.

I think he's referencing the fact that we haven't gotten much from the art for the origins She-Ra exclusive - Bow, Glimmer, Catra, Kowl, Loo-Kee, Arrow, Clawdeen, Swiftwind, etc.

I would hope we’ll get Moss Man, Sy-Klone, and Two-Bad next year. It’s annoying that the latter is in Masterverse first. Once I’ve got Hiss, KK, Mekaneck, Moss Man, SK, and Two-Bad, I’ll be done. I want Randor but I’ll be fine if I can’t get him. I also wanted at least one Horde Trooper but have yet to see them in my area. The only other want I have was an initial prediction for 2023 that I now don’t think will happen: Point Dread and the Talon Fighter. If the line continues beyond next year, it might be an exclusive but I doubt it. I think Eternia and the Snake Men are the grand finale of this line, not counting a few new reveals at Power Con. No more mounts or vehicles besides the Road Ripper.

I think there's a good chance that Point Dread will be a vehicle/playset for 2023. Castle Grayskull isn't complete without Point Dread IMO. Also think Mantisaur will be made available.

Along with a few people who've already mentioned it, I think the Eternia playset will take around a year to manufacture/ distribute and could see it in hand in early 2024.

Extra note: I do think Zombie He-Man will be an exclusive with the Slime Pit and that will be a playset in 2023 too.

I mean, I don't see people expecting that Shadow Master is coming due to Kol-Darr.

I'd expect that they put She-Ra characters because it was She-Ra anniversary. The art even mimicked the art of POP. It wouldn't be thesame if they used that space to tease Ninjor or Fisto.

Side note, it feel weird seeing Ram Man listed separately from Clamp Champ and Battle Armors when they clearly were meant to be one release.

I'd expect Holographo to be released before Hypno since he was actual vintage Ruler of the Sun and not unreleased.


Point Dread & Talon Fighter are easily the most iconic vehicle missing. Some other popular ones - Spydor, Attak Trak, Dragon Walker - I assume will be skipped due to being battery powered. So aside from easy repaints of Screeech and Night Stalker, the only potental vehicles to be are also Bashasaurus, Mantisaur or Monstroid. Dinosaurs would be great but I'm not holding my breath.

You think it will die before they finish vintage?

I'm expecting the simpler vintage vehicles are no brainers, possibly with included figures. So Nightstalker, Bashasauras, Laser Bolt, Talon Fighter, Manty, Jet Sled, the triceratops I'm forgetting the name of...

There's no way this line is ending yet based on upcoming figures, registered trademarks, package art, '2023 and beyond', Eternia and whatever else. People need to get over that irrational fear, they really do. There's more signs the line is in rude health than anything else!

Mattel is re-releasing certain waves again. Some of the earlier ones will be made available in November this year. Have a look at Big Bad Toy store and Entertainment Earth (EE has more expensive international shipping).

Pretty much, once a wave is gone, its gone.

Having said that I do believe they are doing a re-release of Wave 3 (She-Ra, Roboto, Mer Man, Zodac) and pre-orders are still up on a lot of the bigger websites like BigBadToyStore.

EDIT: Also looks like wave 5 is up for another run as well (Faker, Fisto, 200xEvil Lyn, LOP Mer Man)
