• Comic Book (roughly 20 pages. Reprinted story from MOTU 01/1988 Ehapa's "Eine Falle für He-Man" which was translated in London Editions issue 63 from 88 as "The Spells of Skeletor". Story recently also released by German RETROFABRIK in their Hardcover collection volume 3. Cover from said hardcover release by Simon Eckert.

It appears James Eatock has made some public posts on his facebook page, hinting about working again officially on MOTU, doing commentaries and shown us image comparisons.

#1 (1980s) - This was the quality we all pretty much enjoyed on VHS (zoomed in here to match the resolution of the other images)

#2 (2003) - The first DVDs released were in the UK and used Hallmark's original Digital Masters (as can be seen in the his image)
- US releases utilized Entertainment Rights' digital masters, which were created from Hallmark's PAL ones, but were bizarrely NOT adjusted to NTSC, opting to use interpolation, which lead to frame ghosting and a few other visual inconsistencies.

#3 (2017) - The current digital masters still utilize Hallmark's transfers, however this time around with more quality issues than ever before - These episodes contain field issues (jagged lines), frame ghosting, and even aspect ration issues(!), plus, on occasion, forced fades to black for commercial blocks when streamed.

#4 (2022-) - A certain company went back and sourced PAL digital masters - The episodes were upscaled (in what I can only describe as the best upscaling I've ever seen) and the speed of the episodes was finally restored to their original NTSC speed (as Filmation had created). Thus ends today's history lesson!

I just wish they would put the rest of Netflix She-Ra and both the CGI and Revelation series on DVD/Blu-Ray. I love Netflix, but a physical release for these shows would rock even more.

There will be the physical release for both MOTU Netflix series and Revelation by Mill Creek. They just haven't announced the date itself.


Dreamworks She-Ra on the other hand... no clue if the remaining two seasons will get a release.

Anybody know if this will be region locked or not (Region 0)? I'm guessing it is probably Region 2. I have a few Region 0 regular Blu-Ray releases from overseas that work fine on my Region 1 Blu-Ray player. It won't play anything outside of Region 1 or 0 and won't play BD-Rs for some reason.

Sad news for non EU fans e.g. US, Canada, UK etc.

Due to licensing agreements, Plaion Pictures do not ship to non EU countries.

So unless you have an EU family member, friend etc., you'll have to pray for a wider release.

I tried that once and the cost was astronomical and I never received the item. Probably a singular issue but, it didn’t give me confidence in the service. Also, I don’t have a region free Blu-Ray player, unfortunately. And, is it dubbed in another language? I don’t speak German and I can’t find any info other than cryptic posts by James.

It’s just really unfortunate that this couldn’t have had a worldwide release.
