MOTU/POP Filmation Blu-Ray coming from PLAION Productions in 2023 (Germany)

I tried that once and the cost was astronomical and I never received the item. Probably a singular issue but, it didn’t give me confidence in the service. Also, I don’t have a region free Blu-Ray player, unfortunately. And, is it dubbed in another language? I don’t speak German and I can’t find any info other than cryptic posts by James.

It’s just really unfortunate that this couldn’t have had a worldwide release.

I, myself, never had a single problem with forwarding service in Europe.
The Blu-ray will have english audio and subs.
And will be region free.

The one I use is a Brazilian service located in Spain. https://redirecteuropa.com.br/ They ship to US, but I think you should seek one with an English interface. IMHO, you should not lose this release. Universal simply does not care for the Filmation He-man and She-Ra (info from James directly). Myself, I won't wait for an US release.

Didn't someone on here say the original NTSC versions of both shows - in full - had been located a few years ago...but then said nothing else? I think it was Eatock, but my memory might be fooling me.

In any case, the screenshots look great.

They are using PAL masters. But these are corrected to NTSC meaning audio is not sped-up one.

That info was one of the first things I wrote in this thread. Its Number one on the bulleted list.

That’s why this release is also beneficial to English speaking fans. The English audio will be corrected to NTSC (from the best available PAL material).

Yes, I read your post but I wanted to be sure I understood. How can someone correct the audio though? Going from slower audio to faster audio there's no loss...but taking faster audio and slowing it down, well...there has to be loss that way...right? Because the PAL audio has less in it/is more compacted...

Also I *think* the PAL transfers were cropped/zoomed in a bit, meaning we lose a little of the artwork from all edges of the frame. I remember close-ups of faces on my She-Ra DVDs that were obviously too close - you didn't see the tops of heads or bottoms of chins. That kind of thing. I guess that's unfixable though since you're still working with the PAL transfers.

...which brings me back to that "NTSC masters were found!!" post from a few years ago. Were they found?

...in asking these questions, to be clear, I'm in no way dismissing the work that's obviously been put into this release. The still images really do prove how much cleaner the shows will be and that's to be applauded!

But to the larger point, even when confirmed one way or another, some collectors of imports have been surprised to find the opposite was ultimately true. Due to a manufacturing snafu, or something? I have no idea. But it happens.

This perhaps might be like "The Hitcher" 1986 German import I own. On that disc the region was unlocked, but all the credits and titles were in German, including the menus and I personally had to learn where to change the audio to the film's English track.

Does anyone know of an English language forwarding service? I had arranged to have a friend in the UK forward this to me, but evidently PLAION does not ship outside of mainland Europe.

I’ve been looking at Forward2Me and ShipGerman. Both have free sign-up and what seem to be reasonable fees and shipping via several services. F2Me only seems to have FedEx(as far as bigger shippers) and ShipG has both FedEx and UPS.

I haven’t decided which one to use yet but, they both seem to be reputable. Also, I know Plaion accepts PayPal but, I really have no idea how the payment process will go with my card address being in US. I’ll let you know when I go for it- just being a little cautious since it’s a $200 purchase with my fingers crossed.

B) They were found at an Universal warehouse in CA yes.

Follow-ups...how do you reverse the loss of the edges of the footage in this case? If I crop an image in Photoshop and delete the original...then whatever was cropped is lost.

And more importantly, if the original NTSC episodes were found (YAY!!)...why not use those??

I mean really, why convert PAL if you can just take the originals?
