Follow-ups...how do you reverse the loss of the edges of the footage in this case? If I crop an image in Photoshop and delete the original...then whatever was cropped is lost.

see James Eatock’s Facebook. He has shared the image comparisons. And in his images there is no cropping.

I mean really, why convert PAL if you can just take the originals?

I can’t speak for any official party, but I don’t think its ”just take” or ”just use these” case. If some material is in some warehouse at US? (Or UK when James posted years ago)…. Then it would prob cost a lot more money for a German company to locate every part of the material, have them arranged shipped to Germany and on then start the whole case to process and utilize them.
Versus a case where they might have easier access to digitized PAL material to start the (already) time-consuming process to upscale that material…

But like I said, can’t say for certain what is the case.

Did you guys saw James last interview about a month ago? I recommend everyone to check. Ignore all other conversation if you like The Netflix She-Ra or Revelation. Pay attention to the whole Filmation home video story. Starts at 10min34:

Also, Universal owns Filmation and, so far, does not care for an international release. They re-released a crappy master in 2019 again. Yes..... They are using the same problematic version with wrong frame rate and aspect ratio. And they get a lot of money with the He-Man and She-Ra youtube accounts all over the American Continent. Many many views...

Truth: the fact that the original magnetic TV tapes were thrown ignored at the Universal warehouse in CA says a lot.

If Plaion confirms the english subtitles presence this could be the icing on the cake for me, but it seems they insists avoiding the question on facebook.
So, this could mean that they still don't have a clear answer, like they are trying to obtain some sort of license, or maybe they can't include them and they are stalling to avoid hurting preorders.

I think I'll end up ordering it anyway, those screens shared by James are beautiful.

I'm confused, is that a german exclusive only or are more licensors interested in purchasing the rights for more countries?

it seems like a re-use of the 2000s BCI dvd here, need to have that even if sold only for german fans or import...too much extras interesting here, plus all the episodes in HD quality is good too

German exclusive, but they ship to select countries in the EU.

It's more closer to the 2003 UK Contender DVD quality.

Not a "re-use" of the American BCI. James talked about it in his comparison post

US releases utilized Entertainment Rights' digital masters, which were created from Hallmark's PAL ones, but were bizarrely NOT adjusted to NTSC, opting to use interpolation, which lead to frame ghosting and a few other visual inconsistencies.

So yes, the best quality for the digital encodes. And unlike the BCI DVDs, the audio pitch is the corrected one.

From BCI they include certain special features which is terrific though.

I'm listening to the interview with James Eatok now and it's....so fascinating. Thank you so much to those who linked to it - I never knew he'd spoken in such detail about the various warehouses and how things evolved, as he learned more about the original tapes and even came across them.

So basically, it's very likely they all exist, but he's never seen them all in one place at one time, and with ownership over the Filmation library having changed, they're probably scattered in various places now, different warehouses in different countries.

This leads me to think we might never see the original NTSC masters re-mastered and released, because it would take a lot of effort (and money for the studio) to locate all the original tapes and then begin remastering them...which is why these new versions might be the best we're going to get.

Right? Did I understand?

I "bit the bullet" and ordered the collection and it is AMAZING

For users of the English language content, everything seems present and correct. I did a brief comparison of "The Arena" on YouTube and the blu ray and there is a noticeable difference of the picture quality.

I know there has been issues on the disc labelling and German synchronisation side and Plaion Pictures look like they are fixing this for present and future sales.

To get my Eternia Collection to the UK, I used a mail forwarding service and was really lucky to have a relatively good experience. However, it was an additional €35+ for courier shipping.

I am surprised that this thread doesn't have much traction. I would highly recommend people that want this collection and are hesitant to purchase it should definitely buy it when the corrected version is back up on the website.

If anyone has questions about the English language side of the Eternia Collection, I will try and answer then when I can from a fellow fan's perspective.

Received my set earlier this week and the first disc I put in was Secret of the Sword and immediately found a/v sync issues. Everything else I played from the box set including the Christmas Special that's on the same disc as Secret of the Sword have zero issues and are excellent. So... the fix is : rip the Blu-Ray into a mkv and set a "delay" of -194ms, this will fix the sync issue with both English audio tracks... I have this fixed file on my PC/media server, but wished the disc wasn't defective. I reached out to Plaion via Facebook and let James Eatock know as well. Speaking of James, on the extras disc, highlight the last option and push right, there is a nice 30 minute+ easter egg there.

It seems like these big sets always have some issue. I'm surprised they didn't catch it on the movie if true. Hopefully, they get corrected copies out to people. If the set was easy to obtain for people living in the United States, I'd probably try to get it. I have bought the shows many times over, so I'll live. Hopefully, it gets a Blu-Ray set in the United States down the road.
