    FB Group Recommendations For Selling

In the past I've pretty much relegated all my MOTU selling/buying to the .org Marketplace for years now but am looking to branch out to unload some spare stuff.
I know there's a bunch of FB groups nowadays- any specific one(s) that anyone here would recommend joining? I generally think FB is a pain in the butt, but it seems like a more active option than the .org in 2022.
Check out my current ebay auctions!

Yeah, there used to be a ton of activity here in the Marketplace during the 200x days and Classics. Now, it's on par with a tumbleweed blowing in the wind through a ghost town.

    I'll send you a PM.

I'd like to know any FB groups too please! I'm selling off the majority of my collection.
I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. But this wasn't it.

Assuming it's okay, I'll share what he shared (and if I'm breaking any forum rules about posting other places to sell besides here, my apologies and mods feel free to edit!):

☆He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Collectors Group
☆MOTU NATION - Masters of the Universe
☆Masters of the Universe - Buy Sell Trade

I have joined all three but haven't participated yet, so I can't vouch for how they are. I'm kinda waiting to see if my stuff will sell on the forums (my preferred long-time method) before I use the FB groups.

I'm a member of two of these plus a couple more.

The biggest thing with Facebook is checking out who you're selling too. I've dealt with some great people on there. But there are also a lot of...I don't know how to put it nicely...basically like you're dealing with a 5 year old at a 3 year old reading level.

And then there are just plain old scammers. Do a little research into who you're dealing with and you should be OK. If it feels fishy, run

I feel like I know exactly what you're talking about... I've been "observing" the past couple of weeks and I am definitely going to proceed with caution .

I've been selling my classics collection on the org for a year, and while I've sold 80% of it, I still can't quite clear it all, so I'm thinking of the FB option, too.

I've sold some other things (furniture, mostly), but I've had some bizarre issues with selling a guitar. Basically people offer to buy but then have all these weird stipulations like "can you ship it to my brother in Ohio" or telling me they can't pay me $200 because my Venmo isn't "professional" and they need to send me $1,000 to make it pro, but will I promise to send it back? Practically Nigerian prince territory. So yeah, a bit fishy.

I figured there'd be more activity here with things like the Super 7 and MEGA and the new origins stuff... but I guess not.

    Big red flags here

The best thing anyone can do it make sure your listing says price (firm), payment method (firm), shipping to (somewhere) only, no negotiations, no trades. That way when people send weird offers or requests, you can just block them without the mods saying anything.

Loolar this looks like the scam they're trying to pull on you. A double scam at that!

Dice, thank you so much for that link! We knew it was a scam but couldn't figure exactly how it worked. That is chilling - especially the potential to be "an accessory to money laundering!"

I teach AP Language and Composition, which is basically argumentation, and we're also talking about how to recognize scams and logical fallacies.

Fun fact: Some of the scams are preposterous and obvious on purpose. They figure anyone who is dumb enough to respond has "self-selected" themselves as a gullible person, and that way the scammers aren't wasting their time trying to convince someone who knows better. They're essentially weeding out those who wouldn't fall for it before even talking to them.
