When I started collecting Origins (and I buy 2-3 of almost all Origins figures and vehicles) I was adamant I would not start collecting Masterverse and CGI.
But I've since been won over by the Masterverse New Eternia figures in particular - first by New Eternia Skeletor (which made me pay attention) then NE Beastman, and what absolutely sealed the deal for me was NE Two Bad and Man-E-Faces. I cannot possibly skip these figures, and this has led me to buy Masterverse 40th Anniversary He-Man, Man-at-Arms, Hordak, Trap Jaw, Tri-Klops, Stinkor, Spikor, Stratos, Roboto, Frosta, Catra, Fisto, Movie Skeletor and Movie He-Man. I am skipping characters I don't like such as short-hair Teela, Revelation Evil Lyn, and Revelation He-Man.
In terms of CGI, my kids love the CGI show, so it was easy enough for them to convince me to get He-Man and Skeletor. Then I saw CGI Castle Grayskull and thought, geez, this is waaay better than I would have expected. Then I saw CGI Hordak and Merman, and thought 'these figures are getting better and better'. So I'm collecting those now, too.
The good things - financially speaking - are that I don't collect any other toy brands, only MOTU.
And I'm increasingly skipping Origins figures e.g. all of the newer He-Man (such as Thunder Punch and Snake Armor He-Man) and Skeletor variants, all Rulers of the Sun figures, and I can't see myself buying Snake Teela, Snake Troopers, and orange Roboto either. I'm also skipping the Zoar and Screech two-packs, and I think I'm done with vehicles too.
Do you find that you're becoming more invested in CGI and Masterverse as these lines evolve?
