Imagine how a Powers og Grayskull year would be in Origins

2023 is the Snake Men year, now imagine that 2024 is Powers of Grayskull year.

You have 4 waves of 4 figures, 4 Deluxe, 3 creatures/vehicles and 2 MC Exclusives. And all of them should be part of PoG line.

    Red Shadow (Repainted Beast Man)
    Sir Laser-Lot

I could see the bolded characters made/offered mixed with the remaining vintage/200X/minicomic variants, but a pure Powers of Grayskull year (in 24) is kinda stretching TBH.
    Creativity is addictive.

I'm down for a PoG themed year, absolutely.

Some of your selections are intriguing.

I think you need some stuff that appeals to people not into PoG though! Especially starting with around wave 3 of your ideas. I'm really not down for your wave 3 and 4.

    Suggestions:

    - 200x King Hiss -- used as a Preternian King Hiss. Maybe just a swappable arm to keep from being a deluxe. But you could naturally swap parts with the other King Hiss.
    - Jungle Attack 200x He-Man. You're fighting dinosaurs? Do it in jungle style.
    - 200x Terrordactyl as a Turbodactyl redeco/retool.
    - The Unknown One. Yeah, it ticked off hardcore Classics fans. I think Trollans have more appeal with casual fans at retail and he's a Preternian character. (Maybe just sell him as Gorpo and downgrade him from being the big bad though.)
    - Fang Man. He went back in time in Filmation and stayed there!
    - I think Demo Man should use the WWE Andre the Giant buck because he reads visually as taller in Taylor's sketches.
    - I think He-Ro should get two releases. Deluxe with vac metal. And a non-deluxe silver and blue outfit from Tytus' vintage box art. If He-Ro is the big guy, he can get two versions.
    - I think having a 200x Grayskull gets confusing. He-Man in Origins is just a guy who sometimes wears 200x style outfits. They established Revelations-style King Grayskull as the Grayskull of Origins' lore and IMHO they should stick with it. Maybe a Snake Armor Revelations King Grayskull.
    - I don't think Zodak should be repainted Zodac. He's always been more than a color swap. He-Ro's boots. Snout Spout's arms.
    - I think you're still hurting for big names to sell the line. Needs a Skeletor. Dino Blood Skeletor?
    - I'll throw in one more big name. She-Ra. Most of the standard MOTU characters don't have an organic connection to PoG because it's all about He-Man teaming with his ancestor, who is also Skeletor's ancestor. But He-Ro is She-Ra's ancestor too! She's a big name who could be brought in. But I also think most of her vintage variants are a bit girl-y for MOTU. So I propose THUNDER PUNCH SHE-RA. I thought it was awesome when Classics gave us a NA She-Ra and as someone who wields the Power of Grayskull, I think she could get any power variant that He-Man could get.
    - And of course, She-Ra's nemesis is Hordak. So I think a deluxe wave should pit Thunderpunch She-Ra against Hurricane Hordak. Hordak exists in Preternia so it works. And HH checks off a box of a needed vintage figure.
    - On that note: I don't think people would stand for a whole year with only 1-2 of the vintage toys released. So we need more of them included.
    - I'd propose Deluxe wave 2 being Twistoid and Rotar. There's very little lore behind them so I think it works, mostly.
    - I'd say include Gwildor in a regular wave. He's a character that could work in Preternia.

That at least gets us 4 figures closer to finishing vintage.

I'd skip Battle Lion. Bionatops is Grayskull's steed now. Tyrantisaurus at retail. It's honestly not THAT big if you copy vintage.

Dragstor and Rio Blast as made-to-order MC exclusives. Not every exclusive ties into the annual theme and that gets us 6 closer to finishing the vintage line.
I think we get around 4 MC exclusives per year.
Keclar and Great Black Wizard, regular sale. Frees up a retail slot for one of my suggestions.

Let's throw in a Target exclusive 3 pack to spice things up.

Red Keclar (from the comics), Moss Man (unflocked unlike the Walmart exclusive for those who hate flocking, dark green chest and shin armor like 200x), The Oracle (Ancient Trollan from Grayskull's era in 200x, Gorpo retool). Elders of Preternia 3 Pack! (Target LOVES red exclusives.)

And let's give Walmart an exclusive that's something different...

New Adventures Thunderpunch He-Man and New Adventures She-Ra 2 Pack. (Walmart loves blue exclusives. Also, this is kind of a palette cleanser that does something different from the rest of the line and does 2 NA designs while leaving enough essential NA stuff out there for a year of NA themed refreshes.)

And I have ideas about how you make a NA year work but I think it might include NA Man-at-Arms, Sorceress, and Teela alongside traditional NA toy characters, inclusion of more Horde characters as secondary villains alongside the mutants -- since it's a year in outer space -- and Bravestar characters guest starring, again because it's set in space. Rock Warriors as deluxes for the space year because they're aliens. So instead of being exactly like the 90s NA which kind of faltered, I'd use the "it's set in space" theme to bring in Rock Warriors, Horde, Filmation Goblins, and Bravestar (10 figures). So it would feel a bit more connected to the versions of outer space seen outside New Adventures.

Tying in, you'd get Major Matt Mason and his crew plus Captain Lazer from Mattel's other outer space IPs as exclusives that year. I'd probably establish that Marlena knew Matt Mason from her prior life as an astronaut.

Some cool figures here, for sure!

I think Iíd personally like to see some PoP & NA first, but thereís some good ones on here. A few good options for Mattel exclusives (disguised He-Man for example).
Iím still hoping to get a revelation-style KG at retail at some point as I couldnít afford Eternia. A 2-pack with his lion or some steed would be good. Bionatops?

I love this idea. Mattel needs to do the fandom right and give us the full POG roll out that was planned in the vintage era...

Throw Choloh into the mix too!

    Nice suggestions.

About KG200x and Battle Lion, I think that from a pure bussiness perspective they make sense because they both are easy repaints, they are cheap because they are reusing molds and both would sell well.

BTW I forgot Fang Man! He could fit well in Snake Men for sure.

New characters like this i am always down for, but the sad thing is alot of people dont know who these characters are because they come from the bios and mini comics of classics, Mattel has to do a much better job of highlighting these characters in some sort of media (DC or Dark Horse comics series would work best i think) to get pepole familar with these character, want to want them, newbies to origins, unless the collected the classics figures, or really dug deep into the compendium, have no clue who they are or why they are important. Throw a few more snakemen in there as well.

I think a Powers of Grayskull mini from Dark Horse would be a good step.

Revelations is trying to boost the profile of late run MOTU stuff pretty deliberately. Blade, Pigboy, Blast Attak, Stinkor, Scareglow, He-Ro, Clamp Champ, Roboto, Horde, Eternia in the cartoon, Saurod in the comic. I really think a lot of what Smith meant when he said his show picked up where the old stuff left off was that he had a mandate from Mattel to boost the profile of 85-88 stuff and I wouldn't be shocked if the next season included a LOT of stuff seldom seen in media. It's already confirmed they'll be using the Eternia playset again somehow in the next season and rumored that part of establishing the Horde as a threat will involve an extended PoG era flashback with He-Ro, King Grayskull, and Hordak about the creation of the three towers.

Yeah thats a good point as well as adding in Vikor and Wundar, they did a good job of using the later characters as well as the core characters, but the more obsucure characters like you spoke of really need to be feleshed out more, period, for people to get behind them, they need to see their designs, see their abilities, understand what their roles they play in the whole story ark, to establish them as a cool action figure.

With regard to Classics obscure Preternian, well, some of them can be seen for buyers who don't know them as variants of existing characters:

200X Grayskull and Vikor look as variant He-Man
Beast Lord seems a Best Man variant
    He-Ra a She-Ra variant
Even Great Black Wizard and DemoMan can bee seen as a kind of Skeletors.

About Kang Gi, he was almost released by Formo Toys in their new line Legends of Dragonore until Mattel prevented it (along HeMan Guerrero Protoype, Keldor and Sharella). Maybe it means that Mattel has plans for those figures, maybe in MC, Masterverse or who knows.

Ah thank you i didnt know many of these had names, Ursis Prime, according to Classics retelling is known as Red Beast now, seems more apporopraite to go with that over the old name, alos that is how he is refered to in the compendium.

Incredible selection. But I think we would need a Turbodactyl! About Lady Slither, Don't you think she should be Deluxe in order to have legs and snake tail? Does Jungle Attack He-Man exists in any line? Maybe Oo-Larr could be add with Bionatops.

I couldn't think of a slot to use for Turbodactyl, my bad!
Lady Slither- I'm thinking she'd just come with the snake bottom, and if they could do Mantenna as a single-carded figure, then she could be as well (plus the other figures in that wave have a lot of reused parts).
Jungle Attack He-Man was one of the first variants from the 200X that I always had a soft spot for. He came with a machete-like sword that would be pretty badass swinging overhead while riding that dino.

I wasn't gonna, but I think I'll play this game. And I'm gonna craft my "Powrrs of Grayskull" arc sticking to a normal schedule of vintage releases and repaints/retooling.

Wave 1: Gwildor, Sy-klone, Plasmar, minicomic Whiplash
(Sticking to the vintage concept that Gwildor's cosmic key activated the time travel in Eternia tower. He-Man, Sy-klone and Plasmar try to stop Skeletor and Whiplash who have taken the Cosmic Key to access the tower, He-Man gets transported, Skeletor has towers)
Dx wave: Rio Blast vs Blast Attak
(Continuation of story, simple heroic warriors trying to oust evil warriors from Eternia tower)
    Wave 2: Preternia He-Man, He-Ro, Keldor, Toxoid
(Tying in "search for keldor" set up, He-Man finds himself in Preternia where He-Ro fights snakemen and their advisor Keldor)
Wave 3: Two Bad, minicomic Randor, Strobo, Despara
(Back in the presente, Randor himself leads the charge to get Skeletor out of Eternia, but the Horde take the opportunity of the confusion to reinvade Eternia)
Dx wave: Hurricane Hordak and Dragstor + Walmart or Target Exclusive Modulok box set
(More Horde shenanigans in the present, Randor and Skeletor working together)
Wave 4: Sharella, Eldor, Blade, Unnamed One
(Eldor can't send he-Man home with just his and He-Ro's power, so He-Man and Sharella seek out the Unnamed One to "persuade" him to help)

2025 can then start with Laser Power He-Man and Laser Light Skeletor for a "Return of He-Man" story
